The first time I read a post from Rerun I knew that he/she would be my favorite userr of all time. My faith in Rerun sometimes falters, but overall, I still know that he's my favorite user eva.
Rerun 4 Eva.

Thats a shame, you should go see Superman...I thought it was freakin awesome. Gonna see it again in the Imax. I've never even read a Superman comic Last night I watched a show on the truths of Superman. The physics behind his abilities, etc.

1. Brian - Was The Man at everything he did back then. Could sing and play it all and make it all. 2. Bruce - Producer from the start. Excellent singing voice. Excellent keyboardist. Good songwriter. 3. Dennis - Fantastic songwriter. "Little Bird" is the greatest song ever made. Great producer, interesting singing voice. OK but lively drummer. 4. Carl - Fantastic voice. Very good producing chops, but not-as-good a songwriter. 5. Al - Good musician. 6. Mike - great beard, nice voice, excellent lyrical abilities.

When I was younger, younger than before I never saw the truth hanging from the door And now I'm older see it face to face And now I'm older gotta get up clean the place.
And I was green, greener than the hill Where the flowers grew and the sun shone still Now I'm darker than the deepest sea Just hand me down, give me a place to be.
And I was strong, strong in the sun I thought I'd see when day is done Now I'm weaker than the palest blue Oh, so weak in this need for you.
Discuss the amazing songwriter, musician, and person that was Nick Drake.

Excellente! That brought me back to realizing how great Pet Sounds is. I wonder though, if Paul were to conduct a large ensemble of musicians, if his results would rival Brian's? The Beatles and George Martin did wonderful things by themselves, whereas Brian was one brain operating 30+ people.

Right now I'm all ears for anything new. If you have any suggestions for new bands then I'd be glad to check them out. I've grown out of the major BBoys obsession and have been struggling to find another group to take their place in my stereo.

I wish the song didn't break down in the middle into cheesy sounds.
The organ and lone voice is so fitting until the rest comes in. No wonder why Neil Young loves the song. When that organ kicks in it's like standing on the top of a mountain, looking down with the wind burning your face. Stunning song.

Obviously the Beach Boys aren't much of a band you can simply like -- say as in the case of Hanson. Most of us here have some sort of emotional attatchment to the group and their music. We know their story as if they were family and we know their music as if it were our own. I'm sure that most of those bands who claim BW/BB as an influence truly are under the influence. The shame is that they don't live up to their influences most of the time. I agree with Cosmic Dancer that those bands do offer some different stuff than what the mainstream machine is churning out, but is it better than stuff we already have from the past? I'd take "Friends" over every Of Montreal album even though I do enjoy their music.

I personally recommend trying to have as much fun as possible, because i see no value in going through life miserable, but i do realize that for some people, miserable IS fun.
I feel sorry for those people.
It's not that for some people misery truly does become their ideal of fun. It's more that they are prone to thinking about the cruelties in life rather than just ignoring them and having fun all day. We could have fun all day long but in the end it wouldn't mean anything to us. Why did Brian Wilson write a song called "Till I Die" when he was the same person who composed "All Sumer Long" and "Fun, Fun, Fun"? Simply because he tuned into the fact that sometimes everything sucks and that that becomes the ultimate reality. I bet the boys sure were pissed off when Brian brought them 'Till I Die" because nobody likes to face up to the ultimate truth that we all have in front of us. I feel sorry for those people who only strive to have constant fun and don't take time to examine the world with a closer eye.

I'm talking about the bands that have emerged in the last couple of years. Especially since Pet Sounds and the Beach Boys became trendy.
Only trendy amognst the "indie" music scene. E6's website has a little BW snippet on their front page where they ask if he knew that he has inspired all of their bands. He says no.
