I just watched Escape From Alcatraz for the seven billionth time this month.
The single complaint I have for the movie was when Clarence Anglin says at the table, "Is it true nobody's ever broke outta here?" His delivery is horrible of that line. Rest of the movie is fantastic.

Personally, I think this wine tastes like sh*t. I'd rather drink a milkshake for taste but that won't intoxicate my mind in a fuzzy warmth.

I can count the number of times that I've been drunk on two hands. Congratulations. Where are my medals? I need to pin one on you for being such an accomplished alchy. I think you misunderstood my post.

I consider myself a newbie still and to be honest, it brings me more happiness to see constant attention (whether learned or not) going to the band that we all love. As you said, new fans are keeping it all alive and kicking.
I haven't wrote anything of substance concerning the band, no one will remember my thoughts as being insightful or inspiring, but that band's music has been a very close friend to me.

Punch-Drunk, Ghost and Bull too.
Ok, Ian...I have a question. What was your thought on that initial car accident in the film? I mean, on the surface it just seems so random, but obviously its symbolic of something. I just always take it as an analogy for Barry. The car is just coming down the road, drawing no attention to itself, and then out of nowhere, basically explodes and everybody turns to see what the hell is happening. I could be completely off-base, but again, it was just my interpretation on the scene. I think that about sums that up. The most puzzling part for me was the harmonium. I haven't seen the movie in about two years (really need to get the dvd). By the way, what was the main theme music in that movie? EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see that it was asked of Ian.

You mention "Punch Drunk Love" and I have to agree. That movie was fantastic.
Also, last night I watched The Cable Guy and The Big Lebowski, and both are becoming new favorites.

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Worst live act you've ever seen in person.

I've been to a ton of local shows and most of those bands aren't that great. It's more of a scene than a genuine want to make good music, so it doesn't bother me at all.
Worst famous band I've seen was the Vines who were supported by Seether and the Music. All of them were pretty much terrible. Should've been called "The U.S Poser Tour" and it would've been more fitting.

I'm sorry, I realize that you are all well beyond this part of the discussion (and just slightly off of the original topic), but may I set the record straight on one point? Okay, I will anyway. Then there was that black girlfriend Brian had in the 70's or at some point, and every other Beach Boy wanted them to break up and were embarrassed to see Brian holding her hand, etc.
This is a completely erroneous assertion. The reason for their alarm at Brian's relationship with Carolyn Williams had absolutely nothing to do with race. Brian's friends and family were opposed to yet another one of his health care providers taking advantage of him. If anyone of them was to be totally blunt and honest, they would tell you that they initially had much the same aversion to his current wife as well. Hmm, I was going by what I had read in "Heroes and Villains" which I guess is not the first place I should have turned to for concrete truth.
