Dad - "Hey, who does Steve look like now with his beard?"
Step Mom - "Who?"
Dad - " Me from the 70's when I grew mine at his age. That or...Charles Manson".
S. Mom - "He was listening to Charles Manson's music yesterday...*stupid grin*"
Dad - " He made music?"
Steve - "Music is music, and his in this case is very good music. "
Both - "But he was a mass murderer"
Steve - "How can you have lived through the times and his well publicized trial and not know the simple fact?"
Both - ""umm...Did you live through it?"
Steve - *sigh*

Hmmmmm... I've been called 'simple' before, but never 'breezy'. Revolution in the Head. That Beatles book is something very err....not..breezy. It digs deep into the songs and rips them apart if need be. When I described your book as breezy, I was thinking of how it is much like leafing through the Beach Boy catelogue without digging your heels into any particular song and/or album. Didn't mean any offense, it's a good thing.

So I had the two songs on last night on repeat. My Step-Mom walks in curious as to who it is. She obviously was enjoying the songs but I wouldn't tell her who it was.
I finally gave in and told her that Charles Manson wrote and performed these. Her face dropped, and she said in the most dead pan way "Charles Manson was a serial killer....how can you listen to his music?". I didn't feel like telling her that her facts were very innaccurate. I didn't want to be known as a Manson enthusiast or somethiing.

I like the sinister laugh at the end of invisible tears. Creepsville, man. Why is 'My World' cut off?? I've heard his Cease To Exist, but I don't have any of his stuff... Please post more H&V/ Ian!
I've only just come across these songs myself actually. I was hoping this thread would encourage whoever has more songs to post them. My copy of "My World" cuts off too, shame because it's a real nice song. I don't find the laughing at the end of Invisible Tears creepy. It is what you make of it. If you can listen to "Roller Skating Child" without being creeped out then these two songs are easy. There's nothing seemingly sinister or strange about these songs

So a third and fourth nipple must be a turn on for this guy.
It must be great to be famous and have the ability to use the media as a dating service. What happened to people going out looking for someone themselves? There's not one woman with a high IQ who will answer his callings there. They're too busy getting real people.

I haven't heard Manson, but it doesn't surprise me to hear you guys saying he's good. In all these years plenty of people have commented on it, but I've never heard anybody say a bad word about his music; apparently the guy had very genuine talent.
Wait till you hear the song "My World", it floats along so well. His voice rides above the guitar playing (which is also very good) perfectly.

Let's leave all talk of his personal life out of this
So, I came across "My World" and "Invisible Tears". I must say that i'm amazed and knocked off my feet by the performances and just the songs in general. These two songs are terrific.
"I awake every evening and somehow stumble through the night....."
I've only got a clip of this song, it ends on that line.
Who else can overlook the weird stuff and realize this music?
I've got to find more music if it's all of this greatness.

I agree that Brian is just name dropping the most popular groups he can because he's somewhat out-of-the-loop. Even though he's one of the biggest names in Pop Culture, he's spent the last 40 years obsessing over a single Phi lSpector production, most liklely missing out on years worth of new music. I suppose the new music he'd dislike the most would be the artists that tap into his stream and sound like lesser-Beach Boys. Maybe he likes "Toxic" by Britney.

I don't believe for a single second he's ever put on a Green Day or Oasis album. If he did he'd sure run away from it. He's my Grandma's age, she was as hip to cool music in her day as he was. She doesn't understand, or care to listen to any form of modern music.

Well Mike missed a few dates when he was fasting and talking to birds. For those few dates, Brian returned to the stage and Carl took over Mike Love's parts vocally. I'm not sure what the fans thought, but I can't imagine the band being very different at all actually. They'd be lacking that bass romping sound he added to everything but..eh.
