Hi, Eric Here.

About 6 months ago I finished the first album for my own pop band. Its called The Lexingtons Get Lo-fi.

I spent over a year working on it, so I figured you guys might appreciate it.

You can download it free here: http://thelexingtons.net/The%20Lexingtons%20-%20Get%20Lo-fi.zip

Let me know if you like it?

Yes, he did.
55  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Sunny Down Snuff and Stand or Fall recording dates on: December 17, 2008, 01:52:45 AM
From what I've read this was recorded in January of 67.

But again, it very well COULD have been June.

I think that it probably was recorded in June at the home studio though. Like someone else said, it sounds a lot more like the "Church of the american indian" section than the Cantina version.

It's a really great video. Far better than anything I could muster!
57  Smiley Smile Stuff / Welcome to the Smiley Smile board / Re: The nicest board on: October 07, 2008, 04:24:41 PM
I think its a board where weird obsessives can obsessively talk about their weird obsession...

Not to say that I personally have one!
58  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love on Bruce & Terry's \ on: October 07, 2008, 04:23:00 PM
It sure does sound like Mike when they say "step on the gas"

I'd be pretty stunned if it turned out to NOT be Mike. Because I am about 99% certain it is.

I spend a lot of time in my bedroom recording pop songs. Maybe the smileysmile board would like them?

I too am very obsessed with the Early Weezer, up even until Maladroit. The Red Album has some great moments (Angel And the One) But its just so tough to get into this album just like a lot of other people said. It might take a couple years.

Liberace shocked me.

I wanted to post some photos that maybe no one has seen before. They're all public and etc. Very enlightening.

64  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Compression and Clipping on TLOS - is it that bad? on: September 10, 2008, 08:58:04 AM
To throw in my 2 cents to the debate, the mixing and mastering on this record was one of the things that impressed me the most. I think sonically, it sounds great. It has wonderful dynamics (switching from loud parts to quiet) and the full stops where the volume completely drops are done perfectly.

I actually am pretty impressed by this record's production.
65  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Smiley Smile was a joke. on: September 10, 2008, 08:55:39 AM
Smiley Smile was an artistic peak for the beach boys. Don't allow humor to mislead you into calling the whole thing a joke.
66  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson on Pacific Ocean Blue on: September 10, 2008, 08:51:33 AM
there was a point in this interview, right before the last question, where Brian gets off the phone for about 15 seconds and then returns and says "Sorry, I had to take some pills."

and again during the last question he interrupted the question by saying "OK, i appreciate the interview, thank YOU very much", as if the interviewer (mark) had already thanked him for the interview.

Very strange indeed.

How do you know that? Is there an audio version floating around, or do you know the guy who did the interview?

Both. There is both a recording of the interview, and I know the interviewer. They edited the text version to make brian appear more "normal", but everyone is right. Brian clearly didn't want to do this interview and staged it in a way to mislead the readers and to make himself seem insane. It's a bit sad unfortunately that brian can't really give straight answers anymore. It's very frustrating.
67  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Has anyone met Brian Wilson? on: September 09, 2008, 09:35:15 AM
Brian is a very spacey guy. There are points where he will say some god damned clever things, but I think he's very socially awkward. It's tough being a hero, and pretty easy to disappoint people.
68  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Poor crowd at TLOS USA Premier on: September 09, 2008, 09:34:05 AM
This is kind of a shame. But Brian Wilson has always been more about studio work than live shows anyway

i posted this earlier today and i DEFINITELY thought there was something very odd about that photo. extremely unrealistic.
72  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Guardian TLOS review- one star on: August 29, 2008, 01:19:55 PM
I think in a lot of ways they were correct. I myself can't really get into the album.

I think the music is beautiful and overall very fantastic, but Brian's voice is just a harsh wreck.

He should get some cough drops next time he records.
73  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian's new official site has opened! on: August 28, 2008, 11:00:50 AM
it is structurally the same as the old one really. just now with annoying forced flash that interrupts my other music.

I'd go as far as to say this is a downgrade.
74  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: TLOS is now streaming on: August 28, 2008, 10:57:16 AM
I really like the album, i think the music is great. If only we could turn his voice back 30 years or so though.
