Ron was from my area.  He’s from Olcott New York, about 25 miles from me. I never met him though. His dad was a doctor in the area if I remember correctly. King Harvest was his band, he played keyboards. At Olcott Beach, which is on the shore of Lake Ontario, there’s a large rock near the lake that has “Dancing in the Moonlight” painted on it.

The Beach Boys played a concert at a local college, Genesee Community’s College, in May of 1973 (thanks to my brother for remembering when the concert was). I believe they played there largely because it’s fairly close to Olcott, but that’s purely conjecture - in any case, the show was very late in starting, the crowd was getting restless. Finally the band came on stage and Mike explained that the reason they were late was because Mike had gone to Olcott (presumably to visit Ron) and he got lost trying to get from Olcott to the college!

RIP Ron…

Bacharach was a giant among giants. So many great songs.  May he rest in peace.

Just tell Ron Hamady that I’m gonna post another review of the book on Amazon! That should elicit a response!

I find this all very weird and morbid.  The Echovita site does list the obituary. I can’t imagine that this could be fake.

Very sad news.  Emily and I in particular gave Rocky a rough ride in here a few years ago, but sad to lose a member of the extended “family” of The Beach Boys. Rest in peace, Rocky…

Mess of Help is one of my all time favorites and the band could really be amazing live at that time! Can’t wait for the set!  Hope I don’t have to drive 500 miles round trip like I did for the last box set!

Listen, if I wake up in the morning and see that my girlfriend bought me a $100,000 car that’s sitting in my driveway, I’m not saying “why didn’t you put tissues in the glove box?”

Billy, that’s quite a political statement for someone not getting political.  To classify all conservatives the way you did is pretty biased.  I’m conservative but don’t support Mike Love or racism or ridiculing those with challenges, or those different than me.  I think Mike is a POS and have personal reasons for feeling that way. 

Must say that I laughed out loud when I saw your photo with my old “Friends of The Beach Boys” issues!  Someone must have paid you to take them off their hands! Lol!

Brian Wilson should do whatever he wants to do at this point in his life.  I don’t actually know what he wants to do.  Neither do any of us.  Heck, don’t each of us have doubts periodically about what we want to do?

When Brian opened for Paul Simon many years ago, I left after Brian did his set out of respect for him.  And I like Paul Simon, but Brian should never open for anyone… He’s BRIAN FREAKING WILSON!!!
