Verse 2 of Im Waiting for the Day. He goes from 23-year-old Brian to 60-year-old Brian and back again.

I was going to say that I read that on this board once, and it immediately came to mind. I've thought of it every time I've heard it since then.

I think ELO's 'Across the Border' sounds a LOT like H&V.

I had never heard that song before, but I looked it up and heard Heroes and Villians in the verse immediately.  Thanks for sharing!

I've got a follow-up: ELO's "The Way Life's Meant to Be" also sounds like Heroes and Villains to me.

Anyone know if 12 Sides of Summer will be released on vinyl?

How about the Black Friday signed Mike Love books? I got one but didn't think to compare it to the other signatures in the other books. Are those ones legit?

I've thought of this, myself, and but I've still gotta say that my answer is no.  LOL

I have been meaning to start my cat burglar career recently.
If you supply with me with black spandex, orange slices (nourishment), and the address, I'll do it for $14.

Not trying to bump this with info that is not BB-related, but funny thing. She actually still has my cat and I would gladly pay you $14 to go get it lol.

Most of the BB records were purchased at a local used record shop.

Sounds like a terrible situation.

Let the cops come and tell them you're just there to get your stuff back...it's your stuff  LOL

It's one thing I never thought I would have to go through in a relationship... We were together for five years and I should have never allowed any kind of mixing of belongings. The cops can't "prove" that anything is mine and she tells them that I don't have anything there. I never thought I would have to consider separating our things in front of a judge. I'm 26 for pete's sake. We weren't even married and it's like a painful divorce.

I went to the reunion show in Milwuakee. It was a 12 hour round trip for me. Unfortunately, I took a girl with me who I lived with at the time who I'm not seeing anymore. She has the tour program that we got there and refuses to give it up to me. Seeing the reunion tour was one of the highlights of my entire life and to have the tour booklet denied to me by an evil woman who doesn't appreciate them as much as I do kills me. I also used to own every single studio album on vinyl (with the exception of SIP), which she has now, as well.

So I've come here to ask: Does anyone have a spare tour program from the 2012 reunion tour that they could sell to me? This forum might be my only hope.

Go wherever, kick her ass and take your stash

lol I would love to. I've tried a couple of times. She kicked me out of her place and I had to leave a bunch of my stuff there and she calls the cops every time I try to get it. My BB collection means a lot to me and it took me years to acquire the studio albums. At least I still have The Wilson Project book.

Looks like it's still available online at one of their online stores. Good luck, and let us know if you're able to order!

That rocks, thank you for the link! I was looking on Ebay and saw ones going for $150 and I can't even describe the sorrow I felt lol.

I would love to read a list of what you have. That's a heck of a lot of CD's for one band. Like, woah, when you think about it. I second a pic, as well! I'd love to see this. Nothing like a juicy collection.

They didn't do anything like this for the Beach Boys...  Roll Eyes
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Are you ever embarrassed to be a Beach Boys fan? on: January 19, 2014, 09:23:22 PM
I'm never ashamed of the Beach Boys. If you don't like Surfin' USA, I'm embarrassed for you, not myself. Hell, I'll proudly play Kokomo, too. There's a video of a CBC interview of Brian, and at one point he puts a hand on his forehead and says to something to the effect, "Oh my God, I can't believe I'm not on Kokomo. I'm not on Kokomo!" And he's damn right. It's a great song.

It's not that they're bad songs, it's just irritating that that's what people think of when they hear someone say the band's name. Especially when they have stuff like Pet Sounds, Sunflower, and Holland. I would tell people I mostly like the 1965-1978 years of the band, but unfortunately for them, they wouldn't know what those years were for the band. Though, I'm sure if I framed certain years of the Beatles' career, they'd know what I meant. There's so many irritating things about being a BB fan and trying to talk to other people about them. It seriously aggravates me sometimes.

I'm definitely hesitant when I tell people they're my favorite band of all time. I always try to add in "...But none of that Kokomo or Surfin' USA/Safari sh*t."  LOL

I was hoping for Made In California, but no such luck. My birthday is less than a month away, though  Undecided

I did, however, manage to get my hands on a 120 piece basic set of BB cards and a pack that had a Mike Love pick in it for Christmas, though. And that made me super excited. I'll take the Mike Love pick over a blank white placeholder in my card pack any day lol.

That's so heartwarmingly awesome, I'm glad it went well. Sounds like a comfortable phone call all around (we are talking about Brian here). That would be so cool to hear his voice over the phone and be able to communicate directly to him for a few minutes, but I would get so nervous. Major props for even being able to pull it off let alone win lol.

Got a 120 basic card set of Beach Boys cards as an early Christmas present on Sunday night. I've already got all of them in plastic covers and have shuffled through them a ton. Great collection of photos that really displays the band's career well. There were a few cards I looked at that I couldn't help but say "wow" out loud in reaction to they were so nice. High def pics, too. Good cards. Merry Christmas everyone!

Are there any more scans available? I think I'm getting one of the complete sets for Christmas from Ebay, so I'll scan some that haven't been done before when I get those, since scanning is pretty easy for me to do.
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Trading Cards !! on: November 22, 2013, 10:41:19 PM
I'm a shy guy, so my gf asked the Collector's Connection guy if he had any Beach Boys cards and he said he could order a box and probably sell the packs at $4.50 a piece. He seemed impressed that you could actually open a pack and potentially get a piece of their shirts or an autograph. He said they may be in within a week if he decides to go through with it. He'll email us. Not too shabby  3D

So I might have a card dealer here pretty soon lol.

What stores are these cards being sold in? Does anyone know? I didn't see any at my Target store.
