You know I hate to be a downer, but I'm the guy who doesn't find this Jarhead-thing funny, only irritating. But don't mind me, I'll stay quiet for now.

Look out babe

Ugh...
Yeah, you should be repulsed. That's by design. The guy who says look out babe who thinks he's dealing with a little girl he once knew should gross you out,  it turns out she's not the little girl he once knew, and it was wrong of him to be all confident like that , sayin' what he said. Can you dig it?
I understand what the song is about, I just find the lyrics dull and stupid. When I hear the fifth millionth time "SHE'S NOT THE LITTLE GIRL I ONCE KNEW!", I'd like to shout back: OH, REALLY? I kinda figured that out already. Anyway, I find the composition amazing and it's just so wrong that the bad lyrics destroy the whole song. Well actually not the whole song, the instrumental break is awesome.

Actually it's one of Brian's very finest pre-Pet Sounds works, but each to their own i guess...
I agree with you, the music is, like I said, amazing. But in the other hand the lyrics are bad and way too repetitive and the song suffers from that.

You don't really agree with me then because I don't think the lyrics are remotely an issue and I don't think the song is repetitive at all, or at least certainly not in any negative way. In fact, so gorgeous is the way they sing 'She's not the little girl I once knew' that I wish the fade lasted for another 20-30 seconds or so, it's all over so quick. But then Brian almost always knew to leave the listener wanting more... LGIKN is, to my ears, a genius piece of work.
I agree with the bolded part you wrote  Wink

Bolded?
http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/47470/is-bolded-a-word

Sorry if my English isn't always grammatically correct, but it shouldn't be too hard to understand what I meant.

ps. I still agree with you, LGIKN? is one of Brian's pre-pet sounds masterpieces (composition wise) and that everyone has their opinion.

I can think of only three Beach Boys tunes which lyrics I'd change/erase anyday: Be True to Your School (entire song), The Little Girl I Once Knew and Endless Harmony (entire song).

DWB is not about the love between a man and his car...
As BB songs go I think DWB is a very fine example of solid, suitable lyrics.

MIU could have some rewriting though ^^
Yep, Don't Worry Baby is pretty much a perfect song. I don't think it's about cars at all.

Cook meth
Second that. I've already on that path. I'm making 10 millions of dollars in a week and practicly I don't do anything else than listen to the Beach Boys and cook some stuff.
186  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: It's funny, Mike Love has often completley reinvented himself on stage on: August 01, 2014, 12:34:14 AM

There has never been a greater Rock Star than Mike Love.

I hope that was a joke, but you wrote some excellent points. I agree about the current day Mike, he would seem a lot cooler if he wouldn't play that safe. Looks like to me that he's been doing the same thing and dressed the same style for at least 25 years. I've always loved he's onstage jokes. Especially in the late 60's live recordings. He's funny as a great comedian. Plus I think Mick Jagger looks much more stupid with his moves than Mike.

Yeah, how many, and where does he keep them. And in what kind of order, and how does he choose what to wear.

Agreed with Avan. Fire Walk With Me is propably the best film ever. The deleted scenes on the new boxset are really worth to watch.

I don't really have anything against the guy, other than he's a big hamburger on stage.  Maybe I'm a little jealous because he gets a lot more p*ssy than I do, but other than that he's OK.
This!
190  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Stamos accused… on: July 29, 2014, 02:29:17 PM
A real technical problem, or sabotage, whatever. John Stamos didn't belong there and should've stayed in the backstage. Hell, you got at least 15 extremely capable singers on the stage, what do you do when a problem comes up with the video? Call John Stamos to the rescue, of course!

And after watching the video, how convenient that Dennis' voice disappears in between the lines and not abrubtly.

Not exactly a smoking gun.

Just because there are 15 other people on stage--it is presumptuous to assume that each one of them knows the lyrics to "Forever" well enough to step in.  Remember there are no teleprompters available--the only person who had one was Brian.  JS has sung the song countless times and felt comfortable enough to step in.  Plus, I'm not sure any of the back band would have felt comfortable jumping in without the ok from one of the principle members.
Agree, but still... Something still smells here, and it's not me.

Yeah but isn't it a coincidence that most fans who believe something stinks here are the ones who genuinely dislike Stamos?  Honestly, if it were anyone else--literally anyone else--running from backstage to sing the song...no one would have brought this up.  But because it's Stamos (and Stamos is apparently the kiss of death) conspiracy theories like this one come up.

I personally think people's personal vendetta against the guy has clouded their rational judgement.
That may be true on some level. I don't personally have anything against him. If he wants to play guitar here and there and the "true members" are cool with that, that's great. But he raping a classic in front of a paying audience... Sorry. I would've been really pissed off if I was there. And seriously, uhmmm, are you people trying to say that no one from the C50 band knew the words to Forever? I'm sure Brian knew the words, Jeff knew the words, even Mike. Even I know the words, they're not that hard to remember. And you'd think they'd prepared for a situation like that. Anyway, good for Stamos, he definetely got some ladies that night!  Cool Guy

I have this on dvd. It was included in a "box" with two other films. What a horrible piece of crap it is. The other movie, or TV-series, whatever, like others have already stated, was ok though. Everything from the score to acting and technical side are just plain bad in that Summer Dreams movie.

Ocean Way is pretty good, I'd buy that anyday. Actually, it would be the best Brian Wilson solo title ever. I was inspired and made the cover art for the album, I hope somebody from Capitol sees it and decides to use it:

Here me, I got The one:

Brian Wilson - Lana Del Rey, Kacey Musgraves, Frank Ocean, Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin and Joey Deschanel with Brian Wilson sing new songs of Brian Wilson.

F*cking great song. Underrated as hell.  Mike sounds nasally cool plus Denny's tag is just pure awesomeness. It's OK = as good as Do It Again.

Actually, I find it better than DIA. I think the production values have something to do with this - DIA sounds a bit muffled to these ears, in comparison with 'It's OK'.

It's crisp, the 'Find A Ride' 'tag' (hm, that's understating it a bit) is a superb find, and Roy Wood's sax is another fine idea. Not for one moment does it sound outdated, or merely nostalgic.

Together with 'Just Once In My Life', it constitutes the finest performance(s) on 15BO.

I agree with you about the production. Plus I've always thought that Do It Again is missing something, it's sounds to me more like a demo. A really really great demo though. It's OK is one of the rare fun-songs that I never get tired of. I think it wipes out many of the early 60's hits.

Great examples! Jimi Hendrix is my favorite of those. I don't mind Liam so much, I think he tries to mimic John Lennon or something a bit too much.

Of the Beach Boys Dennis Wilson is of course the coolest one. Brian in his 76-77 golden bathrobe is pretty cool too. David Bowie has always been a favorite of mine. Hard to find a non-cool photo of him. Same goes to Leonard Cohen, even though he's not a rock star. Freddie Mercury was pretty cool too. Younger stars? Can't think of anyone...

Imagine a scenario where other user insults or in some other way writes something to a certain person to which this person wants to respond, but he doesn't want to derail the original conversation with personal off topic talk. He tries to send personal message to this other person, but he has blocked your messages. Is there any other possible way to respond personally to this other person's insults? It's a really bugging situation.
