I've watched the 2 videos. I didn't care for the one directed by Paul Thomas Anderson-was it called Daydreaming? Something along those lines. The song and the video weren't really all that great, in my opinion. However 'Burn The Witch' is fantastic. I've had it stuck in my head since it came out. And the video is pretty good, too. Pretty interested in this album. Although, I'm not one of those Radiohead fans that, every time a new album comes out, I think it's the greatest thing ever.

Bernie supporters are just as bad (and racist, believe it or not) as the Trump supporters for the most part. Hillary is the Democratic nominee; it's in the BAG, guys. Give it up. Trump will smash Hillary. Gods help us with either candidate...
I agree with you on either candidate being crap; however, I disagree that Trump will smash Hillary, for the simple fact that minorities (or 'people of color') are going to come out in droves to vote against Trump. They all believe (rightly or wrongly) that Trump hates them. There's no way they allow him to win the presidential election.

Im sorry, but I think these theoretical topics that have been popping up are ridiculous and a waste of time. Are we just out of pertinent things and real subjects to talk about?
Geez. Sorry. If you don't dig the topic, feel free to move along to the next topic... nobody is forcing anybody to read or reply. No kidding! "This post is so ridiculous, I'm going to stop and let you know just how ridiculous it is. Because my opinion is important to you". How about instead of complaining, people come up with a "better" topic? One that isn't, you know, ridiculous and a waste of time.

I need your help, people! I'm currently preparing for a little Pet Sounds 50th anniversary celebration, and I'm in charge of drinks. I was trying to find out what have been some of Brian's favorite drinks through the years. Does anyone know? Rocky has mentioned Grasshoppers a couple of times, but I don't know if it's reliable information!
So what exactly is going to go on at this celebration?

I have a long ride to work (a little over a half an hour), so I listen to a lot, then. I usually get into new music through Youtube. Like when I hear about a band that's all the rage, I'll check out a couple of tracks there, and if it interests me I start listening to more. There's a lot of albums on Youtube anymore, I think that's how a lot of people are getting into new bands. That or spotify.

May 1 1963 the BBs played at the Sports Center Roller Rink, Wichita, KS on their first tour of the Midwest. May 1 1966 the BBs returned to the Memorial Auditorium in Worcester, MA for a show with opening act Vermont band the Lost. May 1 1967-while the BBs flew to Europe to prepare for a tour, Carl was in court over his draft status (He’d been arrested on Apr 26 before the Commack show in NY and ordered to appear in court in LA). May 1 1971 the BBs played at the anti-war May Day Rally in Washington DC-part of Rieley’s attempts to ingratiate them with the counter-culture. Silent footage of this exists and a short bit was used in the 1980s American Band documentary. May 1 1975 to warm up before their big tour with Chicago, the BBs played a show at Municipal Auditorium in Austin, TX. May 1 1978 Dennis worked on Baby Blue and Mexico at the soon to be sold Brother Studios. May 1 1981 the BBs played the first of two nights at Valley Forge Music Fair, Devon, PA without Carl. May 1 1990 the BBs played at the Sports Arena in San Diego with Three Dog Night and America. May 1 1993 the BBs performed at Boonesfield College of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA and at the Marriot Hotel in Palm Desert, CA. May 1 1998 Mike appeared at the Nascar Night in Hollywood awards Show on TV. On same day Brian taped his interview for the Endless Harmony documentary at home in St Charles, IL
Now, we can expect you to do this everyday for the rest of the year, right?

Wait a sec... Runnerz is banned? Sheesh. What is going on here?
That was last year, where ya been? The Mods don't make a ban into a public execution. Seems like that's what some want in this case. I think Bean Bag is gone. Rocky seems to be missing (no surprise there). Rocky probably split because his book thread was locked. He didn't get 3 strikes, so he wasn't banned. At least, I don't remember him even getting 1 strike. Unless it wasn't even Rocky. I know that it was suspected that it was really him. Was it ever 100 percent proven?

I think the verse of "Heroes and Villains" is heavily inspired by "River Deep – Mountain High"
I don't hear that in the arrangement, but I absolutely do in the rhythm and chords. Really? I think the cellos are a pretty obvious point of comparison. The bass line to RDMH is a lot faster; it sounds like if you took the cellos from H&V and sped them up. I love RDMH. I don't get why it wasn't a hit, although maybe the public by that point had moved on from the Spector sound.

Instead of constantly asking Billy why he did what he did, why don't you guys go to the source himself, AGD?
I don't get why in the world this was opened back up to begin with, unless Billy is a glutton for punishment. Or gluttony in general. Maybe he's gluten free, and needs more glutton.

I've never been too fond of people having to approve of something as art, before it can officially become "Art", either. I'm not trying to derail the thread, but have any of you seen "Finding Vivian Maier"? It's fantastic, and the woman had a very keen eye. A lot of work was really beautiful, and yet there were "experts" who didn't want to recognize it as "real art". Who gives a sh*t? I think that art is up to the individual person. Someone sees a white canvas with paint splashed on it and thinks it's trash, while someone else considers it a masterpiece. Who's right, and who's wrong? Doesn't it only matter to the individual?

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: RIP Prince

There's a long video on Youtube (about 30 minutes), where director Kevin Smith (not a huge fan of his, some of his work is OK) talks about how Prince asked him to direct a documentary about the release of one of his albums. The part that blew me away is that at one point, Prince's assistant tells Smith that she's directed 20 of Prince's music videos, and that they're for songs that haven't even been released. He just took them and put them away in 'The Vault'. That just seems incredible to me.

Pistons lost, yet looks like some good stuff brewing; Stanley Johnson calling out the Cavs bench and saying that a small bump from Lebron was a 'cheap-ass shot'. He also said that he knows that he's in Lebron's head. Now, I don't believe that for a second, although to be honest, I like this kind of tough nosed stuff. It's better than kissing Lebron's ass and acting like you think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm going out on a limb and saying that I think Detroit gets a win in the next game.

I love the intro to "Candy's Room". I like the rest of the song--mostly the bits that resemble the intro. That's pretty much it for me.
Bruce Springsteen's sound didn't appeal to me at first. I got sucked in by the poetic imagery and fantastic piano at the start of Thunder Road. From there, my interest expanded. I always really enjoyed the coda; it always takes me back to being a little kid, as that album was played a lot at the crib when I was growing up. My favorite Springsteen song is probably 'Atlantic City' from Nebraska. Beautiful.

Something I heard this evening is that Thibs wants complete control. Now, I understand that he had a lot of success in Chicago; however, not enough to warrant full control. In reality, I don't agree with anyone having GM and coaching duties in any sport. It may work for awhile, although eventually it (usually) doesn't work out. What's your take, Cap? Would you be willing to hand over the reigns to Thibs?

Here's a beautiful piece of art from Phil Travers who did many covers for the Moodies. It's more beautiful in person with it's textured cover. I added the canvas texture in photoshop and tried to color correct this one to match as closely as I could the original album cover from back in the day: I love this. I remember being a little kid and looking at this album cover, and wondering just what exactly that little trinket is. And then, putting on the LP and hearing "Procession" and being freaked the frick out.

Well, then the one thing that this exercise has proved, at least to me, is that Private Messages are NOT private. I will never use that feature in here again.
They are as private as the two parties involved in each private conversation allow them to be. And, while they are a means to share information that shouldn't be shared publicly, they aren't a means to say things that shouldn't be shared anywhere. Well, in the context that the Mods asked us to use them, then yes, sometimes they can be things that wouldn't be shared here on the board, which is why they asked us to use PM's. Had this been done using email would you ban for the same offense? I imagine they would've if they involved bullying of any kind. If you're bullying someone, if it's by PM, then it should be brought to the attention of the moderators. The only reason that this is an issue is because of who it is; it seems a lot of people want to give it a pass because he's a great BB historian. That doesn't give him a right to bully people. To be honest, there were a lot of times through the years that he bullied people right out in the open. Whether you liked him or not (and to be honest here, I didn't care for him for a long while, but sort of grew to like him), you can't claim that that kind of behavior is acceptable.
