The 49 Minute Technicolour Dream LP (Various Artists) Side One: 1. Black Mass- Jason Crest 2. The Wedding Of Ramona Blair- The Mirage 3. Baby Your Phrasing Is Bad- Caleb 4. Flight From Ashiya- Kaleidoscope 5. Matrimonial Fears- The Cymabaline 6. On The Beach- Finders Keepers 7. The Cooks Of Cake And Kindness- The Californians Side Two: 1. Strange Things Are Happening- Rings & Things 2. Butterfly- The Fox 3. 3:30AM- Unit 4+2 4. A Dream For Julie- Kaleidoscope 5. Come Alive- Tempus Fugit 6. Golden Glass- The Misunderstood
I just picked this up on vinyl at Armageddon Records in Providence Rhode Island. Really groovy collection of underground psychedelic 60's groups, none of which I've ever heard of before except for Kaleidoscope. I'm in the process of enjoying it right now. I really dig the classy pop of THE CALIFORNIANS, but not too crazy about the pseudo satanic JASON CREST song. Most of this album is excellent psych! Interesting side-note about the band FINDERS KEEPERS, they featured future Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes.

Had a friend come over, had a really nice time. He let me borrow 3 Metallica albums, so will be checking them out.
I'm not a Metallica fan, but I am a huge fan of the 2 bands which Metallica were inspired by, Black Sabbath and Motorhead. By the way, James Hetfield once included Pet Sounds in a list of his favorite albums. He wasn't kidding either, although I'm sure it was a later-in-life choice of his.

Carl Wilson's 'Time' would've made a good Ramones tune. Think about it. It has that Tommy/Marky Ramone drum beat, it's fast and only a few chords. The Ramones version wouldn't have piano or sax, it would be all solid Johnny Ramone bar chords. It would've been a great song for their Pleasant Dreams album.

My exact order each time: 1. Check Emails 2. Go Over Bills/Finances 3. Do A Quick Look Over At The Music-Related Sites I Like To Visit (like this one). I don't have facebook, twitter, myspace etc, but I have a youtube channel that I occasionally go to.
And other than collecting pictures of my family and friends, this concludes everything I use my computer for.
I use my turntable a bit more than my computer....

I'm so sorry to hear this. I've always loved his work, whether it was being Rik on The Young Ones or his work in movies like Eat The Rich or Dropdead Fred. He'll be missed, RIP

I went out record shopping/browsing today. I visited three of the local used record shops in town and I bought a nice stack of albums. Check it out...The Doors 'Absolutely Live', The Damned 'Not The Captain's Birthday', Kinks 'Kinks-Size', Beach Boys 'Friends'
what is that Friends, green label? Yes. the green Capitol label (SN-16157). Beautiful condition.

I went out record shopping/browsing today. I visited three of the local used record shops in town and I bought a nice stack of albums. Check it out...The Doors 'Absolutely Live', The Damned 'Not The Captain's Birthday', Kinks 'Kinks-Size', Beach Boys 'Friends' (for the 3rd time, but this is a mint re-issue copy), King Crimson 'Lizard', Jeff Beck 'Truth', California USA Various Artists (double LP), and Julie Driscoll/Brian Auger & The Trinity 'Street Noise'. Afterwards I took my 2 year old out for ice cream and I bought him a kiddie pool for our backyard. When we got home he fell asleep, I listened to Side One of 'Lizard', and here I am now posting this message as my son snoozes. He looks so cute hugging his stuffed frog. What a nice day

The Sex Pistols were an exciting band that made an excellent beefy hard rock (you can call it punk rock if you like) album. Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols is a classic. Original bassist Glen Matlock wrote a lot of the material. After Glen quit (or was fired) he was replaced with the not-so-great Sid Vicious and then their music went down the tubes (Sid could barely hold his instrument, never mind play the thing). Thank goodness Steve Jones recorded most of the bass tracks.
Even though the Pistols made only one official studio album, there are tons of shitty live albums/cd's floating around with misleading titles like "Best Of The Sex Pistols" and "Power Of The Pistols"...all of which sound like terrible bootlegs (and the ones featuring Sid are the worst of the bunch). Try not to purchase those.
Other than the obvious Never Mind The Bollocks, I recommend the soundtrack album titled "The Great Rock & Roll Swindle" which features some studio tracks not available on Bollocks and an alternate version of Anarchy In The U.K. which sounds angrier than the Bollocks version. Also I recommend the Dave Goodman Demos that were recorded prior to Never Mind The Bollocks (all tracks feature Glen Matlock on bass).
I'm a Sex Pistols fan and I love Never Mind The Bollocks. It's a shame, however, that they sacked Matlock (who was very talented) and replaced him with that idiot Sid Vicious. Malcolm McLaren had a lot to do with destroying them too. He was a terrible man.
