Weren't those written/produced by Adrian Baker?
The cover of "Let's Dance" is the same version on A Baker's Dozen. Most of the Adrian Baker/Mike Love tracks that I have are remakes of BB songs or oldies/covers. That doesn't help identify the other 3 songs unfortunately. Per the vocals on "Can't Stop Talking About American Girls": since they've been double (maybe triple) tracked and the recording sounds like vintage 80's, I can't see how his vocals would be in a different pitch than the music since this was most likely recorded on tape. And, yes, a train wreck indeed! I've never heard him sing so badly off key like that before. How does this even exist?

I've been curious about Can't Stop Talking About American Girls for quite some time, I've even asked about the song on this board but never grabbed any attention. So what is the deal with the song? Mike's vocals and the backing track sound like they're off maybe a half note? I'm thinking that Mike probably sang the vocals on key to a track that was in the key he was singing in, but maybe the backing track was later changed but Mike's vocals weren't?? I wish somebody could explain this train wreck to me. Does a version exist where the vocals are on key with the backing track?

As much as I love J&D, if the Beach Boys couldn't convince the general public after '67 then J&D had zero chance. After Sgt Pepper came out I think people viewed the old surf and beach bands as corny and old fashioned, irrelevant basically. Can you imagine The Sunrays trying to continue their success during the fuzzy haze of Iron Butterfly and Blue Cheer?

Nobody knew about Manson at that time, including Dennis (The Tate-Labianca murders hadn't happened yet). Dennis liked Manson at first because Manson had charisma, girls and drugs. After the murders happened Dennis wanted NOTHING to do with Manson or his so called 'Family'. I doubt that anybody truly knows what Dennis's exact reaction was when he came home to find Manson and his gang of weirdos hanging out at his mansion. And I doubt that the scenes from Summer Dreams or American Family are accurate.

Can anybody tell me the title of the bonus track from this CD which sounds exactly like the music to Little Deuce Coupe but with different lyrics that sound like they're singing "Mrs. Fabulous Kim, Number One In The West". This hidden track sounds like it could be a theme to a TV Show or something. It's only 35 seconds long (at the very end of the disc from Sundazed). Thanks.
It's a radio station jingle for KRTH, I would guess. Thanks.

6. On The Beach- Finders Keepers
4. A Dream For Julie- Kaleidoscope
Is the 1st song entirely psychedelic. Because the title is very telling in terms of surf rock. I love "A Dream for Julie" very much! The guitar intro & solo are fantastic! And of course, Peter's voice (rare case when I actually like British accent). I thought it was strange that a band called Finders Keepers, who have a song called On The Beach, sounded nothing like surf music. I really like the song though. It's got that harpsichordish keyboard thing going on. And the background vocals include a falsetto singer. I can hear a little bit of a 1966 Brian Wilson influence on Finders Keepers, but they remind me more of a Strawberry Alarm Clock/Orpheus/Electric Prunes sorta Psych Pop/Rock. Cool stuff! And I agree about the intro in A Dream For Julie. Incredible stuff! My favorite Kaleidoscope song is Further Reflections In The Room Of Percussion. Total '67 Psych Out!

Rolling stone is a bloated, ponytailed half dead corpse still hopelessly clinging to those bygone days when the record biz was a billion dollar racket and payola was king! The only purpose they serve is to prop up the remaining few "big label names" and to pretend that they still matter ...... All we get now (aside from the great Matt Tambi articles) are endless Jack White fellating write ups to fascinating insights into how Dave Matthews comes up with a set-list .... A big "rock n roll moment" for them is when the drummer from Weezer catches a frisbee mid-song!
Good riddance.
I couldn't have said it better.

Awesome day off with beautiful 86 degree sunshine! I took a walk over to the East Side of Providence for a relaxing visit to The Coffee Exchange on Wickenden Street where I enjoyed my caffeine and read the Providence Journal. I continued my on-foot venture to the downtown area where I got hit up for spare change by a scrowngey looking dude whom I gave my pocket change to. He was nice and said 'thank you sir, god bless you'. Then I hit up the local record store in search of groovy vinyls and I succeeded! Great list of finds today...The 49 Minute Technicolour Dream (Various 60s Psych LP), Yardbirds 45 'Ha Ha Said The Clown b/w Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor' (Sundazed Reissue with picture sleeve), Surf Mania With The Surf Teens (Dionysis Reissue LP...features cover of Beach Boys Luau and oddly Bruce Johnston is credited as songwriter), Love 'Forever Changes' original Elektra LP, Dr. John 'Zu Zu Man' LP (70's budget LP on Trip Records...very cool album cover) and Animals Animalism (original MGM). When I got home I ordered pizza and made plans with friends to meet their newborn. Super nice day.
