Okay to link it again! I'm a fairly big Association fan - a few of the albums on vinyl, including the Good-bye Columbus soundtrack. On Cd I have the 2-disc Rhino which covers a lot of ground. You picked the 45 version. They did this really great live, too. Was lucky enough to see them a couple of times in the late sixties. Got to meet them! Everybody that came to my hometown stayed at the Holiday Inn, so there was no hiding. My very favorite song by them as well. Merry Christmas, John.

When I Get Home
An early Christmas wish come true! "When I Get Home" was voted off in the third round. Or, are you reading from the wrong list? So many of these songs are so great it's hard to believe they have been offed. Gah, you're right! I did this before coffee this morning... LOL Changing my vote to Tell Me Why. Ouch! Funny what a cup of coffee will do. Save the Rockers! Usually I'd agree, but the ballads are of such a higher caliber on this album IMO Rei, That may be so, but a song as iconic as "Hard Day's Night" should have made it to the final. Not my favorite song on the album, that's still here - for now.

On the contrary to Pixletwin I'm delighted that AHDN is gone. Both that and CBML are among the band's weakest rockers IMO.
This time for me it's a toss up between And I Love Her and Tell Me Why..... My vote'll go to the latter this time, simply because it has far less going for it
Another winner! With your current vote, soon there will be no Rockers left to vote off! That's okay, two of the Ballads are in my Top 5. But not this one. I'll keep voting for this to change places: "And I love Her" would look fine on the loser list.

I got something new yesterday, but you are going to say it's old. Well, that's what I buy. This is a new release, never been on the market before. I've never heard it, and as far as I know has never been booted.
A new offering from the very talented Laura Nyro: AMERICAN DREAMER -Live at the Bottom Line, 12th July '78
Laura did a brief promotional tour for her new album Nested (June 1978). She used a band on the record, but this is just her and a piano playing seven of the ten tracks from the album. Not focusing on oldies, the only ones she picked are "Sweet Blindness" "And When I Die" and "Emmie." She does "Sexy Mama" from Smile, and "man in the moon" (which didn't see official release until 1984). Some of these tracks have popped up as bonus tracks on re-issues over the years, tho I don't think from this same source - very good songs, "In The Country Way" (from the New York Tendaberry sessions) and a great old Dr. John track, "Mama Roux." I'll know more later tonight.
I also got something that was recorded this year: Band of Horses why are you ok. Only heard a few tracks, should be interesting.
Were you guys happy with the Grammy nominations? Looking thru the names it was like a list of strangers. Reminds me of the late sixties, what somebody else thought was worth a nod vs. what I was listening to. I haven't made a final decision, but it looks like Sam and Jesca's album will top my list. It's a real shame Emitt Rhodes' Rainbow Ends missed out, it's getting my time. I don't remember the cut-off date, but shouldn't Los Lobos and Calexico be considered some of the best music of the last year? I loved Ben Folds' album, too. Bieber? Is that really considered cutting edge? What's it all about? My 17 year old nieces were disappointed One Direction didn't get showered with nominations, I'm sure.
I did listen to Childish Gambino's album - not too good. I watched his Tv show, Atlanta, that was okay. What I've heard of the Bruno Mars album is pretty good - won't be buying it, tho. Metallica was good a long long time ago, I didn't even know they were still making music - I thought the lead singer quit. Guess the power of money brought him back. As for Lady Gaga, I got about as far as the new commercial for the tour. I don't need to hear more.

How I long for the simpler times of the mid-sixties. Mornings when the most pressing thing to think about was which record to play first.
What happened? Best not to worry about the small stuff. I have my memories. Can't take that away from me.
I can do what I can to save a treasured song. In the spirit of moving along...
What I said the last time. "And I Love Her" Lots of emotion in that song, but still the weakest of what's left.
Slow down and enjoy the Christmas season. Went out and got my tree yesterday. Got a lot of decorating to do today. and a big snow heading my way tomorrow. yes.
