Bruce is the rhythm piano. Maybe a bit lower in the mix, but itís no different to Brian, they both play the keys on stage.
2  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson - 2019 Tour Thread on: April 12, 2019, 12:23:41 AM
Why do so many people on this board pretend that Brian live is good? This guy shouldn't be out on tour-the video's I've seen are really of a guy who seems almost forced to be participating in a show...

So you're basing your opinion of these shows on tinny sounding videos made by a microphone/camera as small as a grain of rice, which is then uploaded in a lossy format to youtube, and probably listened to on speakers the size of two grains of rice on your phone?

In person these shows are phenomenal...his backing band helps immensely even when Brian isn't on point for a few songs. Is Brian the 23 year old kid we hear on the records? Heck no, and he hasn't been since he was 23. His voice has changed every year of his existence, it's been ravaged by years of smoking and drug use, and he is now 76 yet still out there putting on a show. We're beyond lucky we can still see him perform, and I think most fans know what they're getting into when they buy tickets.

As a fan of the band I just donít see how anyone could pass up an opportunity to see Brian play. The music is amazing even when performed on a bad night, but Iíve never seen a bad show. Every time Iíve seen Brianís band, they have been phenomenal thru some bad nights on Brianís part, and some good nights too.

Everyone always goes on about the bad nights like this wasnít a guy who spent 3 years in bed due to mental illness. Seeing him when heís ďonĒ just makes that all the better. I saw him pull out a song they had performed just once in rehearsal. Shaky as hell, but really fun. Especially Brian yelling into his mic ďTURN MY PIANO UPĒ and then pounding at his keys to make sure he was loud and in at the front of the mix. Good times.

What always amazes me is people constantly connecting dots that arenít there. It doesnít make you smart to have a theory. Usually the simple truth is the actual truth.

I mean you go from having this amazing video put up, to arguing about it, to sadness about it leaving, to people just being angry at each other. Beach boys history is an ever ongoing cycle  LOL

Mike Leroy is very good at arranging and producing. It's impressive.

I have an acoustic guitar, a rhythm box and a Moog synthesizer. I could get my hands on a trumpet, mandolin or ukulele if needed.

Amazing cover indeed.

Rab's covers are always fantastic. This is no exception. I love anything with a chill vibe.
I'd also love a Heroes & Villains made in this style. For all its harmonic gorgeousness, I've found it a surprisingly good song to do with just one voice and acoustic guitar. "Cantina" version of course.

Which is ironic since as far as I know the main moderators over at PSF are left leaning, particularly Bubbly

Yeah, true..maybe Andersson too but I'm a bit confused at this point who everyone is but certainly the more vocal right leaning posters seem to be all there now.

All mods there are lefties. It's funny how that works.

Alright I'm better now....I think though I'm done ever voting for a major party.I also think I'm going to get involved directly and if not directly then as an advocate.  I've seen too many people struggle,  and try to get people divided because if we were to unite, too many people in power (the ones really running the show) would be running scared

Why would you say you'll never vote for a major party when you dont know who will be running for those parties? Bernie would have represented the Democrats had he won the nomination. If he wins it in 2020 you wouldnt vote for him?
18  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Pet Sounds Forum on: October 07, 2016, 11:40:53 PM
Agreed...my main issue was with Dirk (and Andrew, but he doesn't  count).  I think now both boards can move on from this ugliness.

There are 4 mods at PSF. Me, Bubbly Waves, Rob and Dudd.

If anyone of us is gonna start something, it'll be as a satirical swipe and the people who have made the whole community feel so extreme  Grin

And from the beginning weve all been pretty disinterested in discussing this place over there. People are welcome to do it, but I ask the people saying less kind things to just...please stop.

Aside from "Good Timin'" and the three Dennis songs, there's not much great about it.
I wish Dennis didn't write these songs. That would be jolly good. Emotional or not - who cares? "Good Timin'" doesn't sound like good timin'. It should be "good borin'", ha! 3D

It's sad what living in Chernobyl does to ones brain cells.

Because she doesn't like a song you do? Thanks for the tastlessness. Love it.
21  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Thread for arguments with or about moderation on: May 29, 2016, 01:00:59 AM
I not supposed to discuss it or I'd say wouldn't everyone who reshared the PMs be guilty regardless then.

Smiley Cam, I feel like we're going in circles.

22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike and Bruce Tour 2016 on: May 18, 2016, 06:19:29 AM
As a solo presentation from Mike Love it's so much more incredible than you could ever expect from Mike Love. As a beach boys show it doesn't deliver for me. I saw a show in HK a few months ago and I've been so conflicted on what to say about it, because parts of it delivered by Mike were so convincing and well, whereas other parts were completely bot the beach boys. I wish it was just Mike love touring under his own name or something similar to the band.
23  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson 2016 Tour Thread (Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour) on: May 16, 2016, 04:29:06 AM
And lastly, from the VIP package, a poster and a page of music. My daughter tried to give them instructions on where to sign and was shocked to find out she doesn't get to boss them around the way she does me. She was very perturbed that Blondie signed right across the music.

I'm done spamming now. If anyone has any particular questions about the program, I'll check back here.
Also, at the merchandise counter they had Help Me Rhonda baseball shirts.

Just looking at this again and noticed no mention of Tony Asher as a writer, only Brian's name.

That's not uncommon for sheet music since Brian wrote the music...tho there are some lyrics there
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike and Bruce Tour 2016 on: May 15, 2016, 08:47:38 AM
I find it remarkable that Mike is singing lead to Rhonda now.

At the show in Hong Kong I saw 2 months ago that was the strongest lead of the night by anyone...cept maybe Brian on YSBIM
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Thread for various insignificant questions that don't deserve their own thread! on: May 12, 2016, 07:35:27 AM
Does anyone know where a full unedited version of the Lei'd In Hawaii Heroes And Villains is? I'm curious about Brian's raunchy stage banter.

I've heard it....there's only the 'eating p*ssy' line in there if memory serves
