But there was no mention I know of of the fact that the show was going to be performed with a skeleton crew on stage. I guess Probyn Gregory has to sing the Theremin/Tannerin parts because there's nobody on stage to play them. It was cool when at one show Probyn apparently saved the day when there was a problem by singing the parts - but that's a far cry from doing it deliberately.
No matter how good the band members present were, they simply can't replicate the performances turned in when the whole band is present.
I really don't think it's the money for most people. I think they just felt they didn't get what they came to see, and then the money issue arises as they deal with the let down.
The "money back" offer is a red herring IMHO. Nobody (well, VERY few I suspect) is going to ask for their money back. That won't make their disappointment go away. It's like getting your money back after a bad restaurant meal - I'd really rather have not been let down by the experience.
Melinda's "offer" was inappropriate though, I agree. Now if she'd said that if the next time the band is on the east coast they'd play a show in that area and give a special deal of some sort (discount tickets, meet and greet, whatever the logistics would allow) to fans who were disappointed that would have been much better.
Some peope didin't enjoy the show, Well that's not Brian's fault, the man is 66 or 67 can't remmeber, and his is still pumping out great music and touring. Those people need to get over it, he's offering them a refund for fodas sake

Bigger than ever? The band that calls themselves The Beach Boys has been reduced in a large degree to playing county fairs and five hundred seat casinos. Not the beach boys touring band, that's not even the beach boys. I just mean the beach boys music is still as relevant and in your face as ever. And in my very humble opinion, there 70's music is only getting bigger and more appreciated

Wait, I diidn't really mean 'bigger than ever' like bigger than the 60's
I meant that since their terrible slump in the early 80's, and I guess there wasn't much going on in the 90's in the beach boys world.
It just seems thngs are really exciting in The Beach Boys camp at the moment.
Just how I feel

Man I have only been a beach boys fan for two years, and to be honest I don't know if I could of been a fan from the late 80's to around Carl's Death.
But from 2000 there has been a somewhat of a rejuvenation in the Beach Boys world, there bigger than ever that can't be denied, things seem to getting more and more exciting.

My copy arrived in Australia yesterday - only one week after postage and after Amazon advised me it would take 3 to 4 weeks - YIPPEEE!! Ironically I ordered Poco's The Last Round Up at the same time and it was shipped a week earlier and I am yet to receive it. Have been listening and what a wonderful experience, I'm especially loving Common and the Taylor Hawkin's Holy Man (he sounds soooooo much like Dennis). So much to listen to!! Wonderful packaging. ............ now if only the rest of Australia had the same chance to listen to it - unfortunately Sony Australia is dennying them that opportunity via retail.
Yes, what is Australia's problem? I'm in the same boat..... got my disc set from CD Pacific (just waiting the vinyl now!), but how could SonyBMG Australia miss this one? Australia is per capita one of the BB's biggest territories. Apart from laziness from the marketing department in wanting to be bothered, I can't understand why they haven't jumped all over this one! I guess now its pointless them jumping on it..... most of the sales they could have made from old fans have already disappeared offshore, making their marketing task even harder. Ha, it's beating coldplay Red Eye Records in Sydney have POB on import and it's their NUMBER BLOODY ONE selling album - #1 !!!!!! Link: http://www.redeye.com.au/iAsk.asp?reion=USAHa, it's beating coldplay

I'm very happy for Brian and will gladly buy the album as the songs sound wonderful. I'm probably in the minority here though, but quite frankly I'm still more excited about POB/Bambu than TLOS. Can't really post that on the Blueboard without getting crucified by the Brianistas but that's the way I feel.
Actually you're probably in the majority with that sentiment. As a non-Dennis fan, I've been feeling mighty lonely this spring/summer. I believe the sentiment on the Blueboard is one of fairly equal enthusiasm for both albums. Possibly the excitement is more skewed toward Brian because it's Brian's board, but with the exception of a couple of people, most people are giving POB high praise. Now, if Mike Love's album ever comes out... Mike Love mugs and pencils all around
