"All This Is That", Melbourne '78:
What happens when a vocal band sings poorly...a drunken Carl, uninspired Mike and Carl, and absent others. Ick. Is there any live footage of 'All This is That' where Carl ISN'T umm...'over refreshed'? I've only seen Melbourne '78, and another slightly earlier concert where he is slurring and also scowling at the camera!

Yes I agree that Carl was an excellent, Chuck Berry-style rock 'n' roll guitarist - at least the equal of, for example, George Harrison in the early years. The difference is, that Carl never really developed much beyond that style, unlike Harrison who certainly did, particularly with his stunning slide guitar playing in his solo years. But after the surf era, the Beach Boys were never really a 'guitar solo' band anyway, and Carl was never going to be the 'ego-driven' lead guitarist. My impression is that he never really took himself that seriously as a guitarist, which is a bit of a shame as he certainly had the ability.

This has always been one of my favourite early BB songs (and not just because as a child I thought they were singing my name...). Brian has recently featured the song in concert, but is there any evidence of the Beach Boys performing it live?
