Brian's in there but in the lower range, i don't think there's a disagreement with that thou..
Definitely hear him but he's not listed on list that c-man posted. Oddly, the original source on the higher part being Brian? Jack himself some years ago. SO who knows? Funny part is, I never heard Brian's lower part before this thread so that was found by accident me too Billy about Brian. That's why i love this investigation stuff after so many years of hearing!

one of my favorite things they have always done, wish the boys did more in this style. 5/5. Better than the 'freshman' in my opinion. how Brian worked these intricate things out at his age, still baffles and excites me. I'd love an 'accapella' BB/BW album!

i hear what Emily is saying, i think i understand what she means. it's like comparing 'surfin usa' to 'cabinessence'. which is better? surfin usa for it's simple catchy melody and great vocals, or cabinessence for its full luster of harmonies and vocal parts and intricate arrangements. your gonna get two sides to that, simple verses complex. these Beatles songs are difficult to throw out, cause they are so good!

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Understated instrumental breaks

Perhaps the archetypical less-is-more instrumental break is the one in "Don't Worry, Baby". There are more, of course. Take the wondrous break in Kim Weston's "Take me In Your Arms": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVkXrimUidAAll further suggestions welcome, even if it's a Beach Boys track (this division into BB and non-BB topics, although understandable, can be a little stifling at times). Don't Worry Baby! that solo could not have been any better, as minimal as it is. Love that tone of the guitar too, it shouldn't work, but it's an amazing change to the usual. A perfect song.

when was the last time Bruce strapped on a Bass Guitar?
If it's literally a case of only strapping one on as opposed to actually playing it, while he's probably done it even more recently for some TV appearance or another, there's this infamous 1998 Al-less Super Bowl gig: I think this question came up a long time ago, and I think the early-mid 80s was the last time Bruce was regularly actually playing the bass at all during shows, and even then it was usually only for a few numbers like "Barbara Ann." What caught my eye in that photo, is Bruce is playing a 'Squire' knockoff of a 'Fender' bass. They are a cheap instrument, not to say that they are all bad, but it just feels like they found a bass hanging around and said 'throw this on'.
