Not sure if you're familiar with my site ( www.beachboysarchives.com), but I've done an essay on the "Beach Boys Today!" outtakes to accompany an essay I did on the actual released album. Most of those outtakes have seen official release, but I've got an essay on the "Summer Days" outtakes which is almost done and ready to post. A couple of those outtakes are still firmly in the "unreleased" category. With my essays, I try to pull together all available information and post it, then add to it as people present more useful information. My intention is to evenually work my way through their entire (known) catalog (official and otherwise). My problem is, it takes a good few months for me to prepare each essay (I work on them as my other commitments allow). Is that kinda what you had in mind, or were you thinking something simpler, and devoted to JUST unreleased stuff? Greetings c-man! Thanks a lot for your input! I'm familiar with your essays, and I've enjoyed them a lot. I'm thinking of just listing the unreleased stuff that's circulating on bootlegs and collector's tapes/CDR's, but I'd love to include brief descriptions on various mixes (mono, stereo, remixes, etc.) of the officially released recordings. I put up a forum dedicated exclusively to this "project" over at http://bbguide.forumup.be/Feel free to register and comment, add information or just hang out!

I'm hijacking my own thread here, but I have a few questions:
* Does anyone know of a good resource for AFM session sheets? Preferably online, but book recommendations are also appreciated.
Er... It seems like I only had one question at the moment...

Andrew: As Homer Simpsons once said: "It's funny because it's true". EMI - the "Greatest Recording Organisation in the World" - and Abbey Road with their technicians in white lab coats and ties was a three-headed monster of paperwork and discipline. Once again, the Beatles fans are spoilt with, for the most part, 100% accurate tape sheets and documents.
I understand it's nigh on impossible finding this type of info when it comes to the Beach Boys, although I definitely feel it's worth a try.
It's a HUGE task cataloguing, organizing and analysing the Beach Boys unreleased recordings, but I'm up for it!
Now... Where do one start?!

I'm pretty young (16)..But its pretty cool to listen to the beach boys in my school.
You must be pretty young, having a user name like that! I'm "only" 25 and would never remember a name such as yours when signing in... God u need to hear that song 'do you like worms' it's amazing I've heard it a thousand times, but I still can't remember the exact lyrics.

official unreleased Beach Boys material That doesn't make sense. It does. All the bootlegs are released stuff, but they are not official.... No, bootlegs are unreleased material. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

is this the same cd that has oh lord, city blues demo, H&V, and a couple other numbers?
Yes, that's the one. It has the eight 'Cocaine Sessions' songs, plus 9 bonus tracks. Ah, thanks for the info, C-Man. By the way, "annoying fan" wasn't meant as something negative (in case Les Chan himself would read this thread).

So, what's the story behind this intriguing 12-minute recording (done at Brian's home, I presume) found on the 'Cocaine Sessions' CD? Are those fans visiting Brian? There are lots of interesting stuff being discussed...
Brian: Let me think... Songs on the new album... 'Sweetie' and 'Stevie'. And there's 'Be My Baby' and 'Calender Girl', but [Mike] put it on his album. 'City Blues', a song written by me, Dennis and a friend of his (Garvey-something?)
Annoying fan #1: What's your favorite album, Brian? Of the things you've recorded? Brian: 'Holland', and... 'Carl & The Passions - "So Tough"'. I like those two albums the best. Annoying fan #2: I've always wondered who sang the lead on 'This Whole World'? Brian: Carl. Annoying fan #1: Do you like the 'M.I.U.' album at all? Brian: No. I was in a bad frame of mind during that time. I wasn't in a good space... I didn't like the whole bag at all.
By the way, what version of 'Til I Die' (on the 'Hawthorne Hot Shots' bootleg EP) are they talking about?
