I think if you use the single mix of Rock N' Roll Music and It's Ok, and ditch Everyone's In Love With You/A Casual Look/Blueberry Hill and replace them with Sea Cruise/Ruby Baby/Mony Mony and FINALLY use the Dumb Angel bootleg alternate mixes for all the rest, you've got a pretty decent album. Not great, but so much better! Like Bean Bag mentioned, 15 BO/Love You/Adult-Child should really be considered like some kind of trilogy. Id' even compare it to Neil Young's 70s ditch trilogy.

To me, I compare it to liking/disliking modern art.
Some people say, "Stuff this, this isn't art!" but to others, art has to go somewhere else so the concept becomes the work.
This mix in particular reminds me a lot of Danger Mouse's The Grey Album.
If that music style isn't your bag, fine. IMO, this is art and therefore music.

One rock oriented "songs" album and one concept album (I would leave "Cuddle Up" and "Make It Good" off the album for a solo Dennis Wilson LP) Side 1 01 Sail On, Sailor 02 Here She Comes 03 All This Is That 04 Hard Times 05 Funky Pretty Side 2 06 You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone 07 We Got Love 08 Marcella 09 Hold On Dear Brother 10 Carry Me Home Side 3 11 The Trader 12 Steamboat 13 California Saga: Big Sur 14 California Saga: The Beaks Of Eagles 15 California Saga: California Side 4 16 Mt. Vernon and Fairway Theme 17 I'm The Pied Piper (instrumental) 18 Better Get Back In Bed 19 Magic Transistor Radio 20 I'm The Pied Piper 21 Radio King Dom pretty amazing double album!

Here's a nice version of SMiLE without GV that could have been released in 1972! (thanks to the Bellagio 10452 website!) Side A 01 Heroes And Villains (12-minute version) (Prayer/Hvpt1/Hvpt2/DYLW) 02 Barnyard 03 The Old Master Painter 04 You Are My Sunshine 05 Cabin Essence (incorporating Who Ran The Iron Horse) Side B 06 Vega-Tables 07 Wind Chimes 08 The ''Fire'' suite 09 I Love To Say Da Da (incorporating Cool, Cool Water) 10 Wonderful 11 Child Is Father To The Man 12 Surf's Up

Great mix, flows very well and I really dig your CFOTM but... to me it isn't SMiLE as it would have been back then.
For years, iv'e made mixes after mixes after mixes of how SMiLE should go and iv'e found that the best way it to look at it is through "songs" and not side long "suites". For me, GV is a much a part of SMiLE as Sloop John B was on Pet Sounds. In this era, you had to give the record company a "hit" single. Brian was still making "normal" 60s records (with separate tracks on albums) and did so for the rest of his career with the Beach Boys. So it always confuse me as to why he would have gone full progressive mode with this album and making side-long suite. IMO, it always has been 12-13 modular songs, with fades, similar to what he created with Good Vibrations. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thinking of the latter 70s songs (post Endless Summer), there's definitely some material that could have gone punk with the way their vocals were and the production value, songs like: Let Us Go On This Way Palisades Park Sea Cruise Friday Night Mona Almost Summer Shortnin Bread (of course!) Everybody Wants to Live Rollin up to Heaven What's Wrong She's Got Rhythm They're Marching Along He's a Bum Hey Little Tomboy (maybe it'd fit in better?) Roller Skating Child Under the Moonlight We Gotta Groove Ding Dang Match point of Our Love School Girl
Maybe these aren't the right type of tunes, I'm not a huge punk nut, but I was trying to hear these tunes in my head in a punk vibe...but in my opinion, these types of songs/lyrics would rock in a punk way.
You forgot the most punk song the BBs ever recorded : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS_uO7hVOn8
