I used to actually hate H.E.L.P Is On The Way, that is until I tried to play it on the piano. It's really fun to play and the chord progression is awesome! Classic in the same vein as Vegetables. Brian knew his stuff.

Happy Sunday everyone! Here's a little fanmix I did of the never-made 1974-75 BB LP featuring what is available AND not including Battle Hymn of the Republic.LOL Also, I tried to fit River Song into the mix but it's too damn epic and it doesn't fit the overall mood of the record.
Enjoy! Smiley

106  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Vintage Brian Wilson Smile-era edits/mixes? on: February 10, 2015, 09:03:31 PM
Isn't it a bit weird that, of all the songs created by Brian Wilson during the Smile era, 10 songs out of the 12 in the proposed December track list had partially made mixes (Heroes, Worms, Barnyard and The Old Master Painter, Cabin Essence, Wonderful, Child Is Father Of The Man, Surf's Up demo, Vegetables, Wind Chimes, The Elements: Fire), plus two unknown listed tracks that could have been opening at closing of the album (Prayer and You're Welcome). Good Vibrations was already in the can and Im' In Great Shape is still the big mystery! Call me crazy, but im' beginning to think that the 12 tracks memo make sense.

Okay folks, here's my version of Walk On By... it's 6:07 (couldn't stretch it to 10 min Tongue)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivlzhti5quwmk8c/WalkOnBy_1.mp3

It's weird, because at the same time iv'e been working on this, I just broke up with my girl after two years being with her.
Life goes on...  but I can't help but to identify with the lyrics and mood of that song at this precise moment in my life.

116  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Can't Wait Too Long (Much Too Long Version) on: August 10, 2014, 07:00:21 AM
Thanks a bunch for all the nice comments! Smiley

I'll see what I can do with "Walk On By" but im' not sure what I can do that hasn't already been done in seltaeb1012002's magical remix.

Unfortunately, the mix was mainly mp3 sourced so a .wav version would be pointless. Maybe if I can find all the rights lossless sources i'll do a second version.

To my ears, the Psychedelic Sounds very much like experiments going nowhere and personally, I think those would clash next to the production of the SMiLE tracks. Brian was trying everything during this period, but I don't think these skits would have fitted well. Well, maybe "George Fell Into His French Horn"! LOL
120  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Make It Good Appreciation Thread on: July 15, 2014, 02:42:47 PM
This track (and Cuddle Up) makes me really wish for a Dennis Wilson album circa 1972...

According to AGD's website, the "Poops/Hubba Hubba" really who have been something..imagine an album with all these:
It's a New Day/Wouldn't it Be Nice to Live Again/Cuddle Up/4th of July/Make It Good/Barbara Shocked
121  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Do you prefer SMiLE as a 3 movements piece or as 12-14 tracks? on: July 15, 2014, 02:38:54 PM
Am I crazy or do I hear the ending whistle of Heroes & Villains (intro) on one of the Cabin Essence acetate?
122  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Do you prefer SMiLE as a 3 movements piece or as 12-14 tracks? on: July 13, 2014, 06:11:49 AM
1. H&V (Cantina mix to distortion/Smiley "my children were raised/sunny down snuff"/Bridge to Indians+C&W theme/Flutter horn)
I've thought about this, but never tried it.  Seems like a good solution to removing the Fade from the Cantina mix and putting it back on OMP.

Thanks! To me that's the only way for me to listen to Heroes & Villains now. All my favorite bits from the H&V sessions are there. At 3:30, it doesn't feel overlong with pt 2 chants and it doesn't have sections repeat from the Bicycle Rider theme and Barnshire fade. Maybe it's not 1966-67 accurate, but to me it feels like an exciting follow-up single to Good Vibrations that would have been a nice start to the album.
123  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Do you prefer SMiLE as a 3 movements piece or as 12-14 tracks? on: July 12, 2014, 10:39:42 AM

3. The Old Master Painter (Barnyard/OMP/Sunshine/Barnshire)
4. Wonderful
5. CFOTM
6. Cabin Essence

Side B (19:31)
7. GV
8. Vegetables (Smile Sessions mix)
9. Im' In Great Shape (GS/I wanna be around/Friday night)
10. Wind Chimes (GV box mix)
11. The Elements (Fire SOT 17 mix with sfx/Dada pt 1(sounds really earthy with the percussions)/Dada pt2 with water sfx/Holidays whispering winds tag with wind sfx)
12. Surf's Up
