Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Analysis of the Live 50th Anniversary Tour CD

I posted in the vocal thread about "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" on the Live CD.
Am i 99% sure there is a female vocal in the mix, especially on the first "Why Do Fools Fall In Looooooooove" at the very beggining the female voice carried on for a split second longer than any other vocal. I know Jeff and Scott have a high range but it certainly sounds more like a females vocals.
I only saw the wembley concert so i'm not sure if a female was involved in any of the shows? Or am i just hearing things?

I'd never heard of him until recently, but I'm REALLY digging Todd Rundgren, especially 1973's "A Wizard/A True Star" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDcngFIy5nA"There is cause and effect, there's a reason I'm so erect." Sounds like a Dennis line. Ah, that was the first Rundgren album i heard, now I'm a huge fan. I would recommend getting the incredible double disk "Something/Anything", then maybe "Todd". I can't stop listening to Funkadelic at the moment. Cosmic Slop has been on repeat.

Something has been bugging me about the live album. Every time I listen to "Why Do Fool's Fall In Love?", in various places i can hear a woman's voice. Most prominently in the extended "Looooove" at the beginning.
Did a female guest with the band at any show where this was taken from? There is 100% a femal voice in the mix.

Am i the only one who didn't see him in the 70's?? I wasn't born so I have an excuse at least!
Well I think I will pick it up as everything he has done is worth a listen, much like the beach boys catalogue, some things might not be as strong as their best but still significantly better than most.
Wow, that is a Brian album I would love to have heard! Todd + Brian would be an amazing combination. Todd's cover of Good Vibrations is pretty much dead on.

I agree he had some great songs in the 80's. Love the DVD from one of his live 80's concerts, its fantastic. He certainly wasn't afraid of trying something new. The first song of his I ever heard was his version of the Lord Chancellors Nightmare Song on the radio, from then I was hooked. Deface The Music is like a better Rutles! (Though I do like the Rutles), quite a big prog fan so Utopia is my kind of thing, but prefer his solo efforts by far. He is one of those people I wish I had seen in his prime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_vlLBYRvoA - All of the parts of this are great. "Proffesor Todd Rundgren"

I see Todd Rundgren has a new album out "State" , has anyone heard it yet?
Saw him perform "A Wizard, A True Star" at the apollo in hammersmith which was incredible. Any fans?
I think some of his stuff is a bit "meh", but he has had more good albums. Something/Anything, Todd and A Wizard, A True Star are stand out albums.
Also a Utopia fan, having Kasim Sultan on bass helps.
I feel that Todd and Brian have quite a lot in common, both prolific producers and writers. I mean just listen to the first disk of Something/Anything, Todd played every instrument and did every vocal and produced it. Fantastic stuff.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, what a fantastic show. It's one of those rare comedies that makes me laugh out loud. The episode with the Night Man and Day Man song is a classic, I cried when I watched it.

Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys In Concert

One of my absolute favourite Beach Boys albums. Love everything about it, they sound great.
On the topic of Ricky Fataar, I have been a drummer for about 16 years now, played everything from orchestral work to session work. I think Ricky is an excellent drummer and has great feel to his playing. I listen to this album a lot and he has a great style to him, I sometimes slip in a fill he did off this album for fun into other work.

I don't think Adrian particularly enjoyed his time in the Beach Boys.
I was on the Beach Boys tour bus in Paris with him, David Marks, Bruce, Mike etc... They were handing out the tour itineracy for their next string of dates, i'll say that he was most unpleased about having to do so many shows. But an all round nice guy! Though I have heard some strange stories..............
