Looking forward seeing you and other board members as well. First round goes on me.  Drinking Buddies  Time to get my old Pacific Ocean Blue shirt out of the wardrobe, I guess.  Cool Guy

Got my tickets for Berlin and Mönchengladbach, second row, with Stuttgart (row 4) it's gonna be 3 Beach Boys concerts within 3 nights.  Cheesy

BTW With the Japan dates added I think the UK tour should be before and the Australian Tour after the European dates.
103  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What might the concerts sound like ... on: February 26, 2012, 11:46:39 PM
If the Beach Boys do California Saga, Mike is probably gonna sing lead, he sang it on the studio recording.

On the 1990 tour Al always took lead on that song.

Just posted by Bruce on the BBB board:

"Here is what is going on in our BB 50th touring world:
Our Beach Boys 50th starts in April and ends August 19 in Japan. There will not be any concerts with all of us together after 8/19 I am told. At the moment we are struggling with finding a large enough venue in England for a concert but the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Summer Olympics seem to be center stage 'over there' when we are available to tour. I'm hoping for at least Birmingham to work for us."

Why not just do the o2?

Maybe do one or two nights, I checked and it's free through July and August

That sure sounds like Mike & Bruce will continue as the Beach Boys to my ears.  Undecided

No 1080p Bluray with 7.1 surround sound?  Embarrassed

Even though it is a long ride for me I am thinking of attending all 3 german Beach Boys shows. And yeah, don't worry uk fellows, I am sure you get the best deal with at least half a dozen concerts and a superb set. I really hope for a Bluray release.

You should have said something! If anyone is attacking my Beach Boys there would be no mercy.  Cool Guy
110  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Stamos In Reunion on: January 13, 2012, 12:41:54 PM
Nothing against Stamos but I can't see his appearance is selling more tickets, it's not like he is Tom Cruise. He was one of the main actors of a cheesy 80s sitcom which I liked as a 5 year old and therefore is really more like a sitcom for children. As someone pointed out at Facebook: It's like the Stones touring with Hasselhoff. I liked John's version of "Forever", especially at Uncle Jesse's wedding but this just doesn't seem right. Do they really need him to sale tickets? This tour shouldn't really be about the money, it should be a celebration of the music.

And btw he performed outside of the US, Wembley 1993. I think they even recorded the SIP video there.
111  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is Bambu all that great?? on: January 05, 2012, 02:43:45 PM
I really do like "All Alone", it's got a dramatic feel to it and it sounds like a Surivivor song but I still dig it, though the sax really is annoying at points. I can't really say which album I prefer, I am just happy that I discovered such beautiful music, even though I needed a few listen to get into it and enjoy it that much.

Besides not finishing "Bambu", I think it's really sad that Dennis didn't tour for POB. Maybe then there would have been a better commercial success, which would have led to more Dennis Wilson albums or even better Beach Boys records.

BTW Did Dennis consider "Baby Blue" for Bambu or was it specifically written for LA, thus not beeing on the deluxe POB?
112  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: How to organize backstage access for Beach Boys Concert on: December 28, 2011, 12:41:29 PM
You could ask Scott Totten, he posts here and there on this board. As far as I know he arranged some kind of "meet and greets" and Mike and Bruce are quite open to something like that.
113  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 50th Anniversary Tour Dates (as they roll out) on: December 28, 2011, 06:57:59 AM
My Stuttgart tickets just arrived along with a used copy of Jon Stebbins' "The Real Beach Boy", what a day!  Afro  2012 is going to be a busy year with Beach Boys, Nazareth, Van Halen, KISS, Metallica & Johnny Clegg touring. Now the only thing missing is the Stones reuniting with Bill Wyman. (which they did at least for a jam session couple of weeks ago).

I would love to see Ricky & Blondie, even if it means there would be like 6 guitar players on stage.

So did I, managed to get 2 tickets for Stuttgart. I just hope they don't cancel the show. Happened to me once in Glasgow, after flights and accomodation were booked and paid.

I'm really happy for the fans. We are sacrificing our own personal careers to make it possible for the legions of fans all over the world who have been so patient and have waited so long for this thing to happen. The world can use some good vibrations! Congratulations to you all!

Wow, this to me seems so unreal. Since I got into the boys in 2005 I wanted a reunion that much and finally we get it and I can't find words or even realize that statement. Someone wake me up, this is a dream!
119  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Current Beach Boys set lists on: December 15, 2011, 07:07:53 AM
It's all good.  Wink

It is indeed all good! I was mainly just wondering whether the group is promoting their "current release" these days. It doesn't seem like it is.

Well, they hardly promoted new stuff since the mid 60ies at all.
120  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys FAQ book on: December 14, 2011, 01:23:06 PM
Thanks for pointing that out! In that case, I'll go with the expanded version of course!
121  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys FAQ book on: December 14, 2011, 12:43:16 PM
Great news Jon. Now if only that The Real Beach Boy reprint would see the light of day!

Should one wait for the reprint or spend 100 bucks for a used copy, if one can't wait? I'd rather see Jon getting my money for his work but with heavy rotations of Bambu and Pacific Ocean Blue in my player I am not sure if I am able to wait any longer.  Embarrassed
122  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Al...Beach Boys at the Grammys is On! on: December 14, 2011, 09:04:52 AM
Didn't Al lose his guitar belt in the "Here Comes The Night" promo too?

So, which one is worse?

124  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: So the reunion might be announced today? *fingers crossed* on: December 01, 2011, 10:37:21 AM
Some sources still say it's Van Halen and being a fan of both groups I'd rather see a Beach Boys reunion but I think a new Van Halen record has more potential to be successful. On the other side I don't know any artist that treats their fans as bad as Van Halen do and now pay them for a new CD/Blu ray? I am glad that there has been no reunion news, it would be even more disapointing if they would have announced something when it probably would be shelved anyway.

Short and really not essential but Mick Jagger mentioning the 1984 Olympics gig with the Beach Boys about 8:09.
