Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 50th Anniversary Tour Dates (as they roll out) (*UPDATED, Feb 15th*)

Just posted by Bruce on the BBB board:
"Here is what is going on in our BB 50th touring world: Our Beach Boys 50th starts in April and ends August 19 in Japan. There will not be any concerts with all of us together after 8/19 I am told. At the moment we are struggling with finding a large enough venue in England for a concert but the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Summer Olympics seem to be center stage 'over there' when we are available to tour. I'm hoping for at least Birmingham to work for us."
Why not just do the o2? Maybe do one or two nights, I checked and it's free through July and August That sure sounds like Mike & Bruce will continue as the Beach Boys to my ears.

Nothing against Stamos but I can't see his appearance is selling more tickets, it's not like he is Tom Cruise. He was one of the main actors of a cheesy 80s sitcom which I liked as a 5 year old and therefore is really more like a sitcom for children. As someone pointed out at Facebook: It's like the Stones touring with Hasselhoff. I liked John's version of "Forever", especially at Uncle Jesse's wedding but this just doesn't seem right. Do they really need him to sale tickets? This tour shouldn't really be about the money, it should be a celebration of the music.
And btw he performed outside of the US, Wembley 1993. I think they even recorded the SIP video there.

I really do like "All Alone", it's got a dramatic feel to it and it sounds like a Surivivor song but I still dig it, though the sax really is annoying at points. I can't really say which album I prefer, I am just happy that I discovered such beautiful music, even though I needed a few listen to get into it and enjoy it that much.
Besides not finishing "Bambu", I think it's really sad that Dennis didn't tour for POB. Maybe then there would have been a better commercial success, which would have led to more Dennis Wilson albums or even better Beach Boys records.
BTW Did Dennis consider "Baby Blue" for Bambu or was it specifically written for LA, thus not beeing on the deluxe POB?

My Stuttgart tickets just arrived along with a used copy of Jon Stebbins' "The Real Beach Boy", what a day! 2012 is going to be a busy year with Beach Boys, Nazareth, Van Halen, KISS, Metallica & Johnny Clegg touring. Now the only thing missing is the Stones reuniting with Bill Wyman. (which they did at least for a jam session couple of weeks ago).

Great news Jon. Now if only that The Real Beach Boy reprint would see the light of day!
Should one wait for the reprint or spend 100 bucks for a used copy, if one can't wait? I'd rather see Jon getting my money for his work but with heavy rotations of Bambu and Pacific Ocean Blue in my player I am not sure if I am able to wait any longer.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: So the reunion might be announced today? *fingers crossed*

Some sources still say it's Van Halen and being a fan of both groups I'd rather see a Beach Boys reunion but I think a new Van Halen record has more potential to be successful. On the other side I don't know any artist that treats their fans as bad as Van Halen do and now pay them for a new CD/Blu ray? I am glad that there has been no reunion news, it would be even more disapointing if they would have announced something when it probably would be shelved anyway.
