Or... a song with a spoken section.

Please Let Me Wonder?

"I love you."

Well, provided it's in stereo, I'm very excited for that partial vocal Good Vibrations. Ought to make for some smashing fan mixes. Otherwise, this does look like a bit of a redundant release with Pet Sounds Sessions already out.

I have enjoyed these last two contributions.

60  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: March 15, 2016, 12:21:20 PM

Tried out this one today, my first Shins album. For some reason I'm turned off by the guitar/vocal style on a lot of these songs... I can't really explain it, it's just a sound I've heard before and it doesn't excite me. The songs are probably good, I just need to get past my dumb prejudice. That said, an instant standout was "Red Rabbits." I looove that melody the synth is playing in the background the whole time.

Nice.  Grin

I attempted a FloriDada-inspired flash thingy about a month ago. Unfortunately what was supposed to be a mountainous landscape ended up looking like a pile of spaghetti, but still: http://tiredofthewaawaa.deviantart.com/art/Dip-yourself-into-583334700

Looks like a great read.

Also in regards to the 'secret', this inexplicably comes to mind...

"You know, I was at the piano this morning, kind of writing a song...I don't know why, but I got a hard-on. I had to go to the bathroom and masturbate."

Do you love me
64  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Ever get a sense of embarrassment when reading through your early posts? on: March 05, 2016, 02:44:55 PM
Always. Terrible articulation (including one or two cringeworthy attempts at snark) coupled with useless, self-important threads (I believe I made one for a shitty Smile mix I'd made about a week into joining the board) are more or less the hallmarks of my early posts. I also occasionally come across one of my old 'Rank the Tracks' lists and get a bit staggered at how much my opinions have changed.
And I'd also like to apologize for the arguments, Rei. Bad times. Sad

This one?

66  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Best of Brian Wilson - Solo Artist on: March 04, 2016, 11:06:15 AM
Nice! I'll try that myself. Easily the best part of the song.
67  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: The quintessential Brian Wilson picture on: March 04, 2016, 09:17:19 AM
Two favourites...

And there was a version of this one with a beautiful orange glow around it buuuut I can't find it anywhere:

Attempted a decidedly unadventurous single-disc compilation

1. Love & Mercy '88
2. Lay Down Burden (Live at the Roxy)
3. I'm Feeling Sad
4. Good Kind of Love
5. Nothing but Love
6. Don't Worry
7. Message Man
8. Proud Mary
9. Someone to Love
10. Being with the One You Love
11. Sail Away (OCA)
12. The Like in I Love You
13. This Isn't Love (piano demo)
14. Melt Away
15. Live Let Live
16. One Kind of Love
17. What Love Can Do
18. Meet Me in My Dreams Tonight
19. Good Vibrations (BWPS)
20. Midnight's Another Day
21. Southern California

There was about 5 minutes of space left and I couldn't decide whether to throw in How Could We Still Be Dancin' or just the "whoa-hey-yey" part of Rio Grande.

Then I guess just a pair of Trump/Sanders caricatures

Two very nice ones off the top of my head

(Admittedly the magic of this one has worn off having seen it so many times, but it just fits the music so well)
72  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Best Beach Boys / BW inspired song?? on: February 12, 2016, 11:19:31 PM
As for me, I keep coming back to Hideaway by The Olivia Tremor Control.  Obvious influence throughout, but especially the last half minute.

That's a great song!

"Bluish" by Animal Collective strikes me as eerily close to something Brian might have written in his prime. It's one of my all-time favourite songs.

This ought to make undercover-m happy.

(At least I think it's undercover-m who's the big Shins fan.)

Listening got that right. Thanks for posting this! Sounds sort of "dark and mysterious" for the Shins, but I like it.

---
Also, I'm fairly new to Animal Collective, although I really like the song FloriDada. How are people feeling about that song/new album?

How did you feel about Port of Morrow? It's not an album either my friends or I are a fan of.

I really like "Floridada," although I'm less enthused by "Lying in the Grass." It just sounds like Panda Bear's recent solo work.

I was disappointed by "Lying in the Grass" but it's grown on me a bit. Like much of the new Panda Bear album its charms are subtle, so I think (hope) it'll just turn out to have been an oddball choice for a single.
But "Floridada" is great.

Ooh perfect, I've wasted more than enough time making crudely photoshopped Beach Boys covers. They're so much fun to do! Haven't made any in a while though. Sad
