Will receive mine in 4-8 business days...

Not what I expected from a pre-order.

I can play them all here, beside - for some reason - Back Home in disc 1   Huh

Same here.
53  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / MiC on Spotify now on: August 23, 2013, 01:31:28 AM
The urge to listen to MiC right now is huge, but I rather wait for my copy to arrive.

Dilemma :D

Also, lots of tracks have 'remastered 2012/2013' in the tag. For example Sail on Sailor, Trader etc.

Isn't that the acapella version of the studio cut? Also found on the Hawthorne CA release?

Pitter Patter and My Diane are two gems.

Awesome guys. What's the delivery time for you?

Mine says it will be shipped Friday, which means I'll have it Saturday (if all goes well!)

Dutch retailer btw.

Ugh, I'm not too sure now. The website says 5-10 business days. I really hope my copy will ship in time. I didn't pre-order to receive it that much later Angry
57  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Only with You (1972) preview from MSN on: August 22, 2013, 02:04:14 AM
I love this version. A great song. Thanks for the link :D
58  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Should the Beach Boys have just broken up for good? If so, when? on: August 21, 2013, 12:49:02 PM
December 28, 1983.

I agree.

Price?

99 euros. That's about the cheapest I could find here in The Netherlands.

Carl's solo is okay, but it's Al who plays a wrong chord in the middle of the solo, which makes it sound bad.

I don't mind this error. It makes them human Wink

This reminds me of the Lost Concert when Al also makes a mistake during In My Room. The look on Carl and Brian's faces is priceless Grin

I'm surprised they never did a proper attempt at the song. I know there is an outtake doing the rounds, but I find it 'meh' in terms of production and vocals.
63  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 'Where is she?' just played on BBC radio 2! on: August 20, 2013, 08:02:39 AM
Is this a Friends outtake?

Thanks for sharing Smiley

During the Sunflower sessions. I agree, this track has so much potential - and it actually is quite good even as an unfinished demo. Contrary to other posts above me, I happen to think Brian sounds quite good.

Thanks! Didn't know that.

A small teaser.

Hehe, I noticed that too. Sound quality isn't the best. I wonder why?

Holy sh*t.

70  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What if follow up to ''Holland'' on: August 19, 2013, 07:54:14 AM
Revised tracklist! Pretty kickass album even if the sound quality is bad (but part of the charm imo!)  Cool Guy

Side A

River Song (early version)
We Got Love
Iv'e Got a Friend (live)
Ding Dang/Rollin' Up To Heaven

Side B

It's a New Day (all this is that boot)
Back Home (1970 version)
Hard Times (all this is that boot)
Out in the Country
Carry Me Home

I wish It's a New Day was on MiC. Isn't that Blondie's greatest vocal ever? I love it!
71  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Don't Worry Baby - BW Lead (5/3/81 - Pittsburg) on: August 19, 2013, 02:54:01 AM
Wow, those backing vocals sound really strong on this recording. Brian does a pretty good job, too!

Thanks for sharing Smiley

Surf's Up centre channel extraction:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY4gpi5tAwM

Where was this pulled from? Def not the stereo master..

So I guess it's safe to say Brian is doing the harmony on the last "Are you sleeping" in the 1st section. Nice!

The Endless Harmony DVD? It has some 5.1 mixes
73  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys in 1981 - What were they thinking? on: August 18, 2013, 03:09:13 PM
I love the way Dennis encourages Brian throughout Don't Worry Baby from that concert. Despite his problems, he would always support his older brother.
74  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: MIC Absentees on: August 18, 2013, 11:48:02 AM
Okay, without mentioning any unreleased/rare/etc. stuff.

1. Aren't You Glad
2. At My Window
3. Here She Comes - just to show the people who don't know the Beach Boys how radical their sound had changed at the time (also because I really dig this song, despite the rather odd mix. Live version would be even better!)
4. Roller Skating Child (!!!)
5. Pitter Patter (seriously, this is the best song on the album combined with My Diane)

A nice pic from the short time there were eight active Beach Boys (including Brian):

This is probably the era where they looked the coolest. Love the hairstyles and clothing from that period.
