Awesome!   I wonder what the next song was?  Their biggest song Mike says??

I do have this show (incomplete), which I found out yesterday, and he talks about I Get Around.

Can't wait!

(and silently hoping that Carnegie Hall 1972 is the next project Grin)

Wow, this is the first time I hear this version. Blows away the Sacramento one. Thanks!

Pretty much unrankable for me, because I never managed to listen to this album AND enjoying it.

I do like Getcha Back and California Calling, no matter how cheesy the latter is.

I always thought the organ solo on Leaving this Town live was Carli Munoz. I could be wrong. Just doesn't seem like Billy's style to me. Regardless, it's quite good.

There's even a website dedicated to this moment :D

Organ solo Leaving This Town - In Concert album.

One of the most impressive Hammond solos I have ever heard, to be honest.
232  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Gaumont Palace, Paris 1970 on: February 22, 2013, 02:20:53 AM
There's more footage of them sitting on a bed and being interviewed. Unfortunately all with a french voice over. Look at the Pro Shot Concerts list in my signature for the links.

This sure was a strange time. They sounded and played great but the whole thing had no real system imo. That thankfully changed when Jack Rieley came along

Love it that they started to experiment more, instead of leaning on their 'golden oldies'.

Denny's drumming was really solid in those days. Great footage.

Would love to see some 'rare' live songs:

Forever
Barbara
Lady
River Song
Pom Pom Play Girl
Wild Honey (with Blondie, full version)
Mess of Help
Cuddle Up
Hold On Dear Brother
Here She Comes
Big Sur
Beaks of Eagles (I heard it was performed once or twice?)
Don't Talk
I Know There's An Answer
A Day In The Life Of A Tree

In sum, pretty much the 1970-1974 period. Their best live years, in my opinion.

Love the steel guitar in Marcella and Steamboat. Played by Ricky, I guess?

Tony Martin.

Ah okay, cheers Smiley

First of all, what's up with that horrible drum sound? Reminds me a bit of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen, where the snare was completely taped.

Anyway, the album.

1. Goin' On
2. Livin' With A Heartache (one of Carl's best leads, in my opinion. His voice recovered really well)
3. Some Of Your Love
4. Keepin' The Summer Alive (love Mike's bass vocals)
5. When Girls Get Together
6. Sunshine
7. Endless Harmony
8. Oh Darlin'
9. School Days
10. Santa Ana Winds

Quite a disaster this album. Horrible cover as well.

Nice footage. Too bad about those 80s drum pads the percussionist is using.
239  Smiley Smile Stuff / 'Rank the Tracks' / Re: Rank the tracks #22: L.A. Album on: February 12, 2013, 06:14:22 AM
1. Good Timin'
2. Baby Blue
3. Lady Lynda
4. Angel Come Home
5. Shortenin' Bread (1977 version is so much better!)
6. Sumahama
7. Love Surrounds Me
8. Full Sail
9. Going South
10. Here Comes The Night (almost 11 minutes of utter shite! What the **** were they thinking?!)

I was listening to this amazing song on Spotify and then suddenly I heard something I didn't expect: the word f * c k at around 1:21. As if Al made a mistake, because I think it's him.

Is it just me or...?

What has been heard...

I think this picture is the biggest find from that article.

Seems legit.

Lady, definitely.

You Are So Beautiful from the 4th of July show (I think?) is just so sad to watch...
246  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Where is that %^&$@#&* MIC Box Set @#$%^&*(!!! on: February 05, 2013, 11:13:16 AM
:D
Yes, an uncut release please. Especially because they played songs like Mess of Help and Wild Honey.
247  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Where is that %^&$@#&* MIC Box Set @#$%^&*(!!! on: February 05, 2013, 02:29:04 AM
I wonder what happened to those Carnegie Hall 1972 tapes. Would be a stunning live release.
248  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: California Saga.... on: February 05, 2013, 02:27:07 AM
All three parts? That's cool Grin
249  Smiley Smile Stuff / 'Rank the Tracks' / Re: Rank the tracks #22: M.I.U. Album on: February 05, 2013, 02:25:16 AM
1. My Diane
2. Pitter Patter
3. She's Got Rhythm
4. Peggy Sue
5. Hey Little Tomboy
6. Kona Coast

The rest is laughable. Our Team should have been on it.
250  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Wild Honey is the hardest song to sing in the world. on: February 01, 2013, 10:15:15 AM
Blondie's version is unbearable to listen to in my opinion.

I wonder why Carl didn't sing it in those days. To spare his voice maybe? Wink

The London 1972 version is a bit shabby, but I heard another version which was pretty good.
