Is it because it's too much like Love You (of which I stand on the detractors' side). To those who like Love You do you also like MVAF?
I, for one, love Love You, and love Mount Vernon & Fairway. Those two have a lot in common, instrumentally and stylistically. Brian said in a few interviews that he really liked Switched-On Bach, and I think it shows in both.

I have only been able to watch the first part of the new video (stopped before the two early versions of Sunflower), but so far it is absolutely excellent and riddled with great anecdotes. The "re-mastered" songs are a treat and make me wish I had a Spatializer at home... I'm pretty sure there would be a market for new devices. Thanks a lot, Stephen and Mike!

L&M was released in France last Wednesday, I saw it today, and have nothing but praise for it. Apart from a few very technical details that don't get in the way of the story (such as: the car Brian bought was a brown Seville, not a blue Fleetwood), everything is amazingly detailed and precise. Very good actors, even for second roles. The soundtrack is of course excellent, and the songs were obviously carefully chosen for each scene, it really shows.
I'm watching it again tomorrow.
...and just a note about Carl's role in getting Landy away from Brian: some have said in this thread that Carl's efforts had not been accurately represented, but I have to disagree. Melinda keeps calling him, and the few paragraphs at the end of the movie make it clear that Carl, along with Melinda, had a key role in the process.

Almost everything I could have said about this song has already been mentioned in this thread. Best song of the album as far as I'm concerned, probably because it has all the elements of a classic Brian song - unusual chords, interesting stuff going on with the arrangement (especially the strings) and surprising changes throughout.
You know how Brian always refers to Bach as being his favorite classical composer? Go to the wordless section of One Kind of Love (2:35 on the album): the influence is obvious, and works brilliantly.
Another thing in favor of that song is the fact that (and see how I'm avoiding that word here) Brian's voice sounds very natural. There's nothing to distract me from enjoying this song, both the backing track and the vocals are perfectly recorded and mixed.

I used songs from TWGMTR and NPP only, though songs from TLOS could have fit in there. No "guests" apart from other Beach Boys. Not really sure this can be referred to as a personal "Life Suite" as I'm pretty sure some of the songs in this list weren't meant to be part of that suite, but the following order works fine for me:
1. Think About The Days 2. This Beautiful Day 3. Whatever Happened 4. Sail Away 5. Strange World 6. From There To Back Again 7. Pacific Coast Highway 8. Summer's Gone 9. The Last Song (optional)
Time: approx. 26:50
TWGMTR / NPP
I couldn't separate the last 4 tracks from TWGMTR, because they're linked together production-wise, and because I'm so used to listening to them in that order. Not sure about "The Last Song": "Summer's Gone" is already a great closer. But I feel "The Last Song" could add a more "personal" statement from Brian, and it works as an "encore" for the suite.

I don't know if it's autotune, "Pro-Tools" (remember how everybody on this board used to complain about "Pro-Tools" on every song? Autotune is the new Pro-Tools), vocal gloss, reverb, vocal stacking, Kacey Musgraves sniffing helium, rats eating studio wiring or whatever, but there's something VERY WRONG with the vocals.
Sure, it could be due to the fact that this is a low-quality stream, I've heard that explanation a hundred times, and guess what: each time, that annoying effect could still be heard on the CD, less obvious but still easily noticeable.
