Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Off-topic junk from "Those who post nonsense, threads that are one or two posts only, etc..." thread

A thought: equally annoying as these threads are the threads with "vague" titles, such as: "Whoa, look at that!" "What if?" "Interesting video." or, and these are authentic, recent examples: "Grande Coincidence?" "and now, to entertain you tonight" "Suggestions?" "Umm What?" "Here is a mystery..." "cool" "Um..." (as you can see, my first three imaginary examples were far from being exaggerated) More often than not, threads with these titles are the kind of pointless threads you'll be monitoring more closely from now on. But sometimes a genuinely interesting thread might be hidden behind such a stupid name. So, wouldn't it be nice if everyone tried to come up with titles that describe what one can expect to find in the thread?

...no doubt Dennis held that title. What about the other guys, apart from Al Jardine's broken leg courtesy of Brian, what other accidents have happened to them during their career ?
I remember reading that, while in Holland, Brian crashed his Mercedes into a tree and came out of it as if nothing had happened.

June 17th
1946, Born on this day, Barry Manilow, (born Barry Alan Pincus) US singer, songwriter, (1975 US No.1 & UK No.11 single 'Mandy', also wrote 'Could It Be Magic', and 'Copacabana.' Has scored over 25 US Top 40 singles selling over 75 million records worldwide. Had the 2006 US No.1 album ‘The Greatest Songs of the Fifties.’
I'm afraid Barry Manilow's the only one I know. I deleted the others.

Are Wirestone and I the only ones to be bothered by the sped-up "chipmunk" Mike in one of this song's last choruses? It's just a copy-paste of one of the previous choruses, but the pitch has been digitally altered. AWFUL. The worst part of the album as far as I'm concerned.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Dennis Writes To Murry
|

This letter is so revealing into the bizarre psychology of the Wilson family at the time... despite that Dennis was a 23-year old rich, famous (though at the time of dwindling fame), and independent adult/rock star, he still had to write a promissory type note to his dad for borrowing the camera. I’ll bet this was written at Murry’s insistence to Dennis (the Menace). [...] Totally something that might be expected at age 13, but just a bit unthinkable and seemingly a bit demeaning of someone who’s an adult, let alone a famous adult celebrity. Obviously to Murry, Dennis was still just Dennis the screwup kid, and that is probably all he’d ever be [...]
This. It's just... Weird. And I guess Dennis could have bought his dad a new camera in the blink of an eye.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The inclusion of Don't fight the sea' would make a much better album

I agree.
1. The album could use a little more life. 2. I think Al should've been represented with a self-penned song. 3. I don't think it would've hurt the album lengthwise to include a 13th song. 4. It would've gotten Carl's voice on the album (but I have a feeling "they" didn't want that) 5. I love the song!
My thoughts exactly. For all these reasons, and also because I feel the new album doesn't have enough Al lead vocals, it would have been great to include "Don't Fight the Sea". But production-wise it would have sounded even more out of place on the album than "Daybreak"...

DAMN IT, I had a seat in the B3 block, row 3, and it took me too much time to find my f*cking confirmation code for my credit card The one that's on the back ? I'm not THAT stupid No, when my bank issued my card they gave me a spread sheet with 9 columns and 9 rows, and each cell contains a code. When you do certain purchases on the internet, Mastercard asks for the code in a specific cell ("D2" for instance) and you have to put that code in... It's a security device. Not very practical, to say the least.

I had other seat opprtunities but they were all "not-that-good" ones. I've been told that past B3 block you just can't see anything. Still hoping a good seat becomes available... If I knew for a fact that they wouldn't come to France, I would settle for a not-that-good seat...

I'm poor so I usually end up drinking Simpler Times Lager (Trader Joes), PBR, Yuengling Lager Drafts, or High Life tallboys. I'll occasionally spend the $10 and get a Delirium Nocturnum. That's more of twice a year treat, though.
There ain't nothing wrong with high life imo, but I'm a drunk so what do I know. I just don't understand beer of food elitism. Sometimes a high life or Taco Bell can be more satisfying than their more complex counterparts. Different strokes for different folks. Sometimes a Katy Perry tune can be more satisfying than a Bach tune.
