Vice City probably remains the best of the series in terms of initial impact and general playability.
I had all the GTA games but lost interest after San Andreas. Things became more complex, darker. GTA IV was a far more serious game, not only in terms of "environment"/"style" (less "private jokes", etc) but also in the way vehicles handled, and so on. It just became too serious to be entertaining as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. It's not like there hasn't been things wrong with prior Beach Boys' releases. The wrong take of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" was used on Made In The U.S.A.
To be fair, I think the "correct" WIBN master had momentarily gone missing, and they were forced to use this alternate version.

It's on my set as well, and it does bother me. For a product that expensive, you'd think they'd pay attention to stuff like this.
I mean, I *could* fix it with the appropriate software, but it would take me a lot of time to do it right, and it doesn't mean it's a "normal issue". If a manufacturer sold me an expensive car but I had to re-program the transmission computer unit myself so it shifts when it's supposed to, I'd be pissed.
And I am a bit pissed about disc 3.

Smiley Smile Stuff / 1990's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Summer In Paradise

I was on the beach today with my mp3 player and, for some reason, decided to listen to SIP in full. And I had an epiphany.
Something about the lack of wind, something about the lack of clouds, something about the warmth, the sun, the blue skies and waters made the album work. Mike wanted to make the quintessential summer album, and while it falls short of that goal, it certainly isn't unlistenable (that, I already knew), and, as I found out today, it can even be enjoyable in the right context. Lay down on the sand, close your eyes, put on SIP and take it easy.
Apparently I had already given it a 2/5 vote, and that still seems fair. 2/5 from a Beach Boys album is still better than a 5/5 from Ke$ha.

I first got a message saying " ERROR - Code already used or has reached its limit" (uh, considering it's the personal code I received by email, I find it strange) and now " Please allow your download to finish before requesting again"... And now I'm getting the first message again... But I haven't been able to download anything Any help by PM would be greatly appreciated!

Chances are I will purchase it from a foreign website since prices are usually more attractive, so it will take one or two weeks to get here. In the meantime I am sure I will find a way to download it from the internet (and why the hell not, since I am buying the thing anyway), and once you have access to all the different, separate tracks on your computer, I guess it is much harder to resist going straight for the juicy bits.
So I suppose that is what I will do, go straight to the rare/unreleased tracks. I will probably start with "You're Still a Mystery".

I wonder what the usual hidden tracks at the end of some discs will be. It'd be a nice opportunity to slip in a short track. "Thank Him" would be a great choice but I'm not holding my breath.
I suspect none - TSS's "hidden" tracks were flagged up in the pre-release track listings whereas there's nowt here. But I'm in the "deliriously happy to be getting what we're getting" camp, and don't mind! Count me in that camp as well ! But squeezing the extra song or two from the vaults would make me even happier I think TSS was the first major BB release to have its bonus (not really "hidden"...) tracks announced in the track listings, so maybe it will remain an exception. ...And the H&V Baldwin overdub at the end of one of the discs remained hidden

I'm really, really excited. This set contains tracks I've been wanting for what feels like forever (the '94-'96 recordings, WIBNTLA, California Feelin', well, all of those and more). Obviously this doesn't - and can't - have all the tracks I'd have liked, but maybe these aren't here because of technical limitations, or because the tracks are lost, or because they're keeping material for future archival releases. I'm laughing at people who complain about some previously released tracks not being on this set. "Rock and Roll to the Rescue" ? Buy "Made in USA". "Still I Dream of It" ? Buy the GV30 boxset and "IJWMFTT". Etc.

I once received a couple of messages from Ian which contained pretty harsh words, apparently just because he disagreed with my opinion. I didn't reply, and I won't be more specific here. But from what I had read about him in the past and what I'm reading in this thread, I'm not surprised it ended with teh banhammer.

Depardieu: "People more illustrious than me have gone into [tax] exile. Of all those that have left none have been insulted as I have."
Well, isn't it obvious? You're a famous actor, dude! You're not like some evil rich guy, banker or nothing. People actually like you. For someone of your persuasion to demonstrate freedom and turn their back on Politicians and Government and ...gasp Socialism... that's just not good for their image. And it's hard to get elected again when your image is bad. Did you ever think of that?
Actually, Yannick Noah, former tennisman and currently a singer, has been France's #1 favorite celebrity for many consecutive years, and he lives in the US. No one's bashed him the way the media and some ministers shat on Depardieu. Probably because Noah supports the current government, and Depardieu is known for his mostly right-wing views. Hell, Noah even sang at the party thrown for the current president's election. A guy who evaded taxes shook the president's hand, and the latter called him "a friend". So, yeah.
