1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Saw Al Saturday night - great time! on: April 08, 2024, 06:35:21 PM
Saw Al at Anna Maria Island here in Florida.
His voice is still amazing, everybody had a blast.
Bobby Figueroa and Probyn Gregory in the band.  I can't remember the bass player's or the wonderful woman drummer's names  Angry

Love all your YouTube content, Adam - this one included!
It was fun on this latest one to hear the background music as each song was discussed - just enough notes changed to keep it legal!  Cheesy
Looking forward to your next one.

Hi Adam - quick question...
On part 1 you flashed a pic of the Live in Sacramento album cover, mentioning it contained the unaltered (truly live) versions of the "In Concert" tracks.
Do I have that right?  I see that download out there on Amazon and would love to hear the "warts and all" versions.  So no post-production on Live in Sacramento?
I've totally enjoyed your Pet Squares videos - great job!!!

I've had that poster hanging in my garage for years.  It's a really bad photoshop job - especially his hand that's on the guitar neck.

I am a huge fan of Joe Thomas productions (ducks!).  Imagination is one of my all-time favorite albums - period.  TWGMTR is another.  For Cripes sakes, in the early days Brian didn't have auto-tune but he triple-tracked every voice.  Nothing wrong with making things sound lush and perfect.  I think JT's productions are wonderful.  I think Richard Carpenter is in the same vein and he seems to get more credit these days than does JT.

A band consisting of Sean Lennon, James McCartney, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey might be interesting, but would you want that billed as "The Beatles"?

Would this be Al on bass?  Or did Carl take bass duties on this one?

I was watching and listening to "The Lost Concert", and during "Long Tall Texan" Brian keeps turning to Carl and Al every time Mike says the titular lyric and appears to make fun of him (or the Long Tall Texan character). You can't really make out what he's saying, except at 4:30 I think he says "He likes his job", which I think is a very funny line compared to the punny humor they usually showcase.

This link should start the video at the start of the song:

Anyway, this got me thinking about the possibility of other genuinely funny jokes the boys have made. If you know any, please share.
I hate to poop on your thread, but I think the 3:35-3:55 laughing is because Carl and Al had been distracted and Brian snipped at them for it and then Brian messed up the lyric - "He rides in Texas on a..." instead of "He rides in Texas with a..."
The 4:30 part I'm pretty sure Brian says that Mike is sharp.

Long time lurker stepping out of the shadows for sec...  Cool
I think when Mike sings "to enforce the law", Brian says "Mike's a cop".
Ok, back into darkness I go...
