Another thing to ponder is if Dave never quit would Bruce have ever been a Beach Boy? Was any of the other guys able to play the organ live in 1967?
I would think Carl would be the most likely candidate, since he was playing some keys live in the 70s. I can't say whether or not he'd be proficient enough to cover the organ parts at that point, though. Would Dennis be the only other member that could have possibly done any of the keyboard work at that point in time? I'm sure he wouldn't have really been considered for that role, being the drummer and all, just thinking out loud.

The Totten/Kirsch/Bonhomme/Cowsill/Christian Love setup was probably the tightest that the Mike and Bruce band ever was.
I disagree -- I think Jeff is a major improvement over Christian, who often seemed bored. The replacement of Randell by Brian Eichenberger seems a less obvious improvement though, but he's not noticeably *less* good than Randell either. So the 2014 and 2015 shows I've seen were by far the best musically. I have to say that I agree with this 100%. I think the Kirsch/Christian lineup is very close, and I always greatly enjoyed those shows, but having Jeff back along with Ike just adds something extra for me. The show I saw this past summer was easily my favorite Mike & Bruce show that I've ever seen, both performance and song selection-wise. Honestly, it probably ties with the one C50 show that I saw for my favorite Beach Boys-related concert ever. Incredible.

Interesting. Same key as usual, and doesn't sound too strained. He'd still sound less strained in a lower key of course.
Still don't think the song especially suits his voice, but this was about as good as I could have guessed it would sound.
Agreed. It honestly sounded better than I was expecting. I'm still curious to know why Mike took a turn with it.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / The Landy/Surf Nazi videotapes

I'm re-reading the Wilson Project right now and it reminded of the few videos I've seen that were taped during the Landy years. From memory, I recall seeing the Tower Records video for the release of BW88, the filming of the In My Car video and the hotel video w/ Stamos and Bruce and Foskett. I can only assume these were filmed by Kevin Leslie and others in the Landy circle, and it got me thinking. How many of those recordings have seen the light of day and who might have leaked them?

There is a pic of the merch in the Mike & Bruce 2015 Tour thread that will give you some idea. From what I can remember from last night, there were 3 men's shirts, 1 girl's shirt that said California Girl on it, a hooded sweatshirt, 2 different baseball hats, flip flops, a program and the 1966 tour hardcover book (forget the exact title.) I may be missing a thing or two but that was most of it. I don't remember seeing a shirt with the Brothers logo on it. One of the crew had a cool Beach Boys in concert shirt w/ the logo on it that I would have loved, but I think that was from last year's tour.

I was at Chautauqua last night too. All I can add is great show (51 songs!!), and aside from the C50 show I saw, the best BB show I've ever seen (including every other one they've played at Chautauqua since 2000). I was really surprised by all the deep cuts, some I'd never heard in concert before. I sent Mike a request for All I Wanna Do on his Facebook page, and I don't know if it made any difference or not, but I was ecstatic that they played it. I like to think it was played for me I was lucky enough to grab a pic with Mike & Bruce before the show and had a chance to say hello to Jeff Foskett. Bruce was chatty and very cool. Mike didn't say much but we shook hands and said hello. Jeff was cool too, I wish I would have been able to talk to him more but I didn't want to bother him too much. I picked up a tour program which is very nice, and a hat, but I was a little disappointed with the shirt selection. I'll be seeing Brian & Al in October and they definitely have their work cut out for them. I have no doubt it will be a great show, but the bar was really raised last night for me. All I can say is it's a gift that ANY of the Beach Boys are still out there performing, and that they're playing such long and varied and deep sets takes it to another level. Regardless of what you may think about the touring band, you really owe it to yourself to see them if you can.
