Hey John, I can't really help with your question. I do know that BEAM was released on another label (RPM) and it might be there are contractual issues?. I do know the cd goes for astronomical amounts on places like ebay and that's the only way to get the album!. I agree, it would be cool for such a great album to be more available to listener's ears. Hopefully that will be rectified next year with the forthcoming 'best of', which really can't be complete without tracks from BEAM. L&M Polly

Hey John, that's cool, can you remind me where your Peter Lacey thread is?.. Keep Beamin' And my apologies go to you Jim, it's a while since I posted here, you are right the message should have gone to the general section. My mistake. Btw, Peter has been in the musical sphere of Wilsonia for longer than most, well worth checking out.. L&M Polly

Thank you Loaf.
Poetry and Science ... Wherefore I seek a poetry of facts. Even as The profound kinship of all living substance Is made clear by the chemical route. Without some chemistry one is bound to remain Forever a dumbfounded savage In the face of vital reactions. The beautiful relations Shown only by biochemistry Replace a stupefied sense of wonder With something more wonderful Because natural and understandable. Nature is more wonderful When it is at least partly understood. Such an understanding dawns On the lay reader when he becomes Acquainted with the biochemistry of the glands In their relation to diseases such as goitre And their effects on growth, sex, and reproduction. He will begin to comprehend a little The subtlety and beauty of the action Of enzymes, viruses, and bacteriophages, These substances which are on the borderland Between the living and the non-living. He will understand why the biochemist Can speculate on the possibility Of the synthesis of life without feeling That thereby he is shallow or blasphemous. He will understand that, on the contrary, He finds all the more Because he seeks for the endless ---'Even our deepest emotions May be conditioned by traces Of a derivative of phenanthrene!'

Here's a review from Domenic Priore.. hot off the press!... ---------------------------------- "To me in this era of Corporate Rock, Occupy Wall Street and all kinds of Alternative music being a buzz and non-buzz word for about 25 years now (even if Sam Goody invented the phrase), listening to the actual new recordings of The Beach Boys has been, as Orson Welles may have said, "very unrewarding." Do I have time for Mannheim-Steamroller-like backing tracks, and cliche-to-eleven lyrics (even if the voices now sound good)? Certainly not. However, it is artists like Peter Lacey, who are able to make references to the poetic nature of The Beach Boys when Van Dyke Parks had been a budding lyricist for the band. Smile. A time for peace, I swear it's not too late, and The Beach Boys recording "Surf's Up" joined the cause to try and help stop the war in Vietnam through resistance of the young. It's gotten a long way from that kind of mindset within The Beach Boys when it comes to poetics anymore. However, can't stop the music. An artist such as Peter Lacey consistently delivers on all levels, at least in terms of actual sound best exemplified by The Beach Boys in their ethereal mid-'60s prime. Your best bet is here, with such an artist." ----------------------------- Domenic Priore. Author and documentary filmmaker has focused his considerable energy on documenting the heyday of the Sunset Strip music scene and Beach Boys hagiography resulting in books like "Smile: The Story of Brian Wilson's Lost Masterpiece," which can be considered an adjunct to the documentary on Brian Wilson called "Beautiful Dreamer," and his book "Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock 'n' Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood 1965/1966.

A lovely reply to Peter Reum's piece on GRiNMACE by from Frank Holmes~ "After reading this extraordinary review from Peter Reum, I am reminded of a story my daughter Betsy Holmes related to me some time ago. She was born in 1979 when Smile was still underground. I had the orignal Smile Slick framed and on my wall. As my young daughter began to put two and two together she imagined that the two people in the store front windows were actually her mother and father. She used her young mind to interpret what she understood to be her reality. All art is communication through the senses and relies on the individual to interpret the visual. The same idea applies to the music, audio and poetic effects of GRiNMACE and "What happened to the couple in the Smile Shop Windows?" Yes, the couple has aged, but the Shop goes on. Thank you so much for the CD Peter. It is a beautiful demonstration of your natural creativity. " Frank Holmes http://www.pinkhedgehog.com/peterhome.htm
