Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Al Jardine on Touring with Brian Wilson: We're not done yet!

Nice to hear Al is singing lead on the album. Sounds like it might be a Brian Wilson album in name only, this is the next Beach Boys album. Now, some might argue with that saying Mike needs to sing on it in order for it to be a Beach Boys album but my point is that while Mike and Bruce have drifted to tour on their own, it seems Brian, Al, and Dave have never ceased to be a band since the reunion ended. It's not the reunion ended so Brian went back to his solo career, the reunion never ended, it's just that a couple of guys backed out of it. This album is THE follow-up to That's Why God Made the Radio and I couldn't be more excited.
I would argue that without 4 of the most recognizable Beach Boys it ain't The Beach Boys. What about Summer In Paradise? No Brian or Dennis. Their two most recognizable members. Not a Beach Boys album to me. How about you Nicko?? Um... asking Dennis to play on SIP was always going to be tricky. I can understand why they didn't. Um... note that I was referring to how Nicko argued that without 4 of the most recognizable member's of the group, Brian's current project couldn't be The Beach Boys. Which is obvious. The current's a Brian Wilson solo album with Al Jardine, David Marks, and Blondie Chaplin pitching in amongst others. But by using Nicko's rationale about the most recognizable members not being there, I asked if he thought should count as a Beach Boys album even though it's two most recognizable members (Brian and Dennis, regardless of the circumstances for why they weren't there). Whatever though, it's understandable that you wouldn't get it. Dry English humor not your strong suit, I see. Nor yours, it would appear.

But the track - the instrumental track - is mono.
The core elements are mono but they're drenched in stereo reverb. The Beach Boys version, on the other hand, isn't mono at all - there's a guitar part during the intro that's panned hard left and is absent from Brian's version. There's also stereo reverb all over the track but not the same as on GIOMH. So it's a different mix, like Rocky Racoon said.

Who was responsible for the sloppy ass autotune job on Brian's vocal on "You're Still A Mystery"?? Probably the same person who thought it'd be a good idea to drop shouty 2004 Brian into the bridge of Soul Searchin'. Yikes, yeah I heard that. Why?? Not sure if it's Brian though, is it? Sounded like it might be Paley. The phrasing of "out of my mind" made me think it was Brian from GIOMH. You might be right though; it's certainly not very distinct.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike on Mick...Jealous? Because I sing better? Get more chicks?”

Mike Love genuinely acted gay throughout much of his performing career, particularly in 1976. Kind of uncomfortable to watch him go limp-wristed, hand-on-hip in his ass-huggingly tight pants. Not sure what he was thinking. Mick never gave off gay vibes, despite his mincing stage presence.
So it's a bad thing to give off gay vibes? It makes you "uncomfortable"? Mick is better because he has never given off gay vibes? Is this in any way an appropriate comment? Not anything wrong with giving off gay vibes at all. Mike's stage presence is/was cringe-worthy because he's always spouting off how he's been with so many chicks, and (from what I've read about him before transcendental meditation) was a violent guy always trying to prove how tough he is. It comes off as awkward and not very self-aware. Mick seemed confident in his stage presence. Please don't read things into my comment that aren't there, thank you. I admit I phrased myself poorly. I should have just said Mike looked creepy as hell. How's that? Now you're equating "gayness" with creepiness. Wanna give it one more go?

Amazing to think that after Bruce and Dave singing leads on the C50 we now have 7...yes seven, official Beach Boys on live albums plus Blondie. Otherwise known as eight.

Well that settles it, then. No more touring for Brian -- and Mike can ascend to his rightful place in the hierarchy as the only touring BB. Whew. Thank God our long national nightmare of seeing Brian play life-changing concerts is over.
Surely other people are entitled to an opinion. Who's claiming otherwise?

Al was in good voice, but I think he forgot lyrics here and there. I found him glancing to Jeff a few times for help. Dave sang well, and his guitar was finally up in the mix. What hold does Jeff have over Al? He's so controlling. I'm worried. Bacon bacon.

I'm a completest - I've got to have everything. I cannot wait to fork out my hard-earned cash for MIC.
However - I really resented paying money for C50 Live Album. What a monumental f***-up!
Does anyone know... who was behind the decision to release the album like this?
Someone who knew he or she could rely on people like you.
