who sings what part of Good Vibrations? Here's my guess:
Carl sings the lead (i like the colorful clothes she wears, softly smile i know she must be kind etc) Mike sings "I'm picking up good vibrations, she's giving me excitations". Brian sings "good good good good vibrations" and the "na na na na na na na na" Al sings "I don't know where but she sends me there" and "got to keep those loving good vibrations a happenin' with her" Carl Dennis Al and Bruce all do the "mmm bop bop" Bruce says the "ah my what elations"

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / if their older selves went back to 1964, what would they say

to themselves? (and since Denny and Carl are dead I'll say their 15 Big Ones selves) . Would it be like "Back To The Future 2" where they don't say they are their older selves but rather "a distant relative". Like Biff in BTTF2, do they come with an almanac of sorts (the equivalent here being the words to all the good songs written by other groups) to make it so all their music tops the charts?

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / most generic sounding BB song?

By that I mean something that sounds almost like a parody of themselves and something you'd see on This Is Spinal Tap? IMO, I think In The Parking Lot sounds as generic as you can get. The layered harmonies at the beginning and end, the fast music and Chuck Berry-like guitar in the middle and the "do-ron de ron" harmonies to accompany Mike is almost like a recipe on how to right an (old) Beach Boys song.

I honestly find Carl & The Passions as a whole overrated. I love "Here She Comes" and "All This is That", but that's really it. The rest range from decent (YNAMOHTSA) to bizarre and laughable (He Come Down, Denny's schaltz-fests).
Part of what puts it off for me is the length of the tracks. Nearly every song is over 3 and a half minutes, with two of the worst (Cuddle Up and Hold On, Dear Brother) dragging on for over five minutes.
Also, I never liked "Do it Again". It sounded like the bland reunion song TWGMTR could have turned out to be (and thankfully, didn't).
haha that's like my favorite album. ITs them basically experimenting with different sounds. Make It Good and Cuddle Up sort of sound like precursors to stuff in POB. "Hold On Dear Brother" is them trying to sound like Neil Young.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / after Holland, did it seem like they gave up?

In the "An American Family" miniseries, I found it interesting that it ended with them touring and playing their oldies as a "high note" to end on. Was the mentality sort of "This is as good as its gonna get so lets ride this for what its worth"? I think people blame Mike too much for destroying the group's creativity, but Carl and Dennis, despite being seen as more musically progressive, were equally as guilty.
