Hi everyone, I'd like to review the Paris show at Salle Pleyel -
I found it strange that Brian's autobiography wasn't for sale as part of the tour merchandise - fortunately there is Amazon!
Blondie Chaplin walked in the waiting room, it was great to see him, he shook his hand with someone who bent in reverence.
When we entered the concert hall, classical arrangements of Beach Boys songs were playing in the background.
Eventually the concert started - Brian and the band completely nailed the first part! The sound at the first balcony in Pleyel wasn't great though.
Matt seemed to have some difficulties hitting the highest notes, maybe some kind of voice extinction (eg the beginning of Don't Worry Baby), but he has such a great voice anyway. Blondie brings so much energy to the show, even if his guitar solos are "special" ahah. I loved his set of songs. They played "You're so Good To me", people at the front didn't calp except for one person which Al noticed ! "Glad you like it"... Well most of the people at this concert (including me) waited years before seeing Brian live. Somehow they were a public of listeners so I can understand why they didn't clap that much at the front.
I was so looking forward to hearing Pet Sounds! Overall I wasn't disappointed.  Their live version of the instrumental "Pet Sounds" has to be my favorite version of the song, maybe my highlight of the show. The way Brian ended "I know there's an answer" was tremendous. His way of singing "I Just Wasn't made for these times" now was remarkable. Al sung the "I guess HE just wasn't made for these times"! Unfortunately, Brian's singing of "I'm Waiting for the day" wasn't great, he coughed during the first verse. Matt was a bit low in the mix, maybe because of the issue with his voice extinction (I'm unsure). Darian sung Darlin', I'm so glad he could make it to the show, Darian is such an important part of Brian's recent history. Al's Wake the World was great. Brian nailed Love & Mercy. 
At the end of the show, Al stayed a little while and shook hands with people at the front of the public. I should have bought a seat there :-)

I just went through the Box Set and I love the package. It makes me want to start a collection of books/music. Imagine the same kind of box set for Friends, Sunflower, Surf's Up, Holland or Love You (with 5 discs of content (highlights from sessions, live, backing tracks, a capella, alternates mixes...) for each album, I'm sure there is enough material) ! It would look so great on a shelf !

Add Some Music. Even though it is catchy it lacks some... Y'know ? Something "grandiose" which have, for me At My Window, Cool water, Forever, Our Sweet Love and of course All I Wanna do.

I kinda prefer Feet to Long Promised Road. But this tune never misses any of my alternate Surf's Up tracklists. Sorry TALOYF.

I have to give my vote for this album. I'll do my best to protect At My Window, Brian's French is so memorable ! The weakest remaining track is for me

I read you every day but I don't post very often. I just wanted to tell you that I've done an Element Suite from SMiLE. I don't know if it has been done before but here is the description of the track :

I tried to do this suite as final part to SMiLE. I used several sound effects of nature (wind, rain, stream, thunderbolt). It starts with the tag to Wind Chimes as "The Elements:Air" with a wind sound surrounding the multi-piano track. Then the wind gets stronger and we can hear the sound of a forest fire, "The Elements:Fire" starts. By the end of "Fire" it starts to rain, "Fire" fades out and "Cool, Cool Water" from the GV box set comes. A thunderbolt is the introduction to the vocal intro to "I Love To Say Dada". "Cool Water" and this represents "The Elements:Water". Then comes "Dada".

I used my favorite stereo bootleg for "Fire" and "Dada", the SMiLE Sessions for "Wind" and the GV box set for "Cool Water".

I'm planning to do my own SMiLE with my previous work (the long version of H&V, but I think that instead of expanding the track H&V I'll use the H&V sections as transitions to the tracks). I've also done a "Surf's Up" / "George Fell Into His French Horn" mix and a "Wonderful" mix with the intro of CIFOTM as an intro to "Wonderful" and the "Rock With Me Henry" tag.
