Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Al Jardine Not Interested In A One-Off Beach Boys Reunion

Scott and Darian would be fine but I would go for a outsider if a new album was proposed. Someone familiar with the target demographic (realistically 40 plus) and not necessarily a fan of their early 60s material, as certain group members would be tempted to stick with the formula and mimic.
Throw caution to the wind and go for a non-fan with no intention of reverting to numbers and willing to challenge group members with new, for them, concepts and methods.

I now think after reading Al's comments that a reunion other than another PR roof-top style deal is unlikely. Lets see, Al wants a year, Mike hints at a one-off, Bruce dito, Brian nada. Dave I think would be fine with any agreed set up.
What is needed is a personality who can pull something together and mediate amongst the members and shut down the egos and control the thing. That type of person has not been involved with the Beach Boys for over 40 years and sure as hell wouldn't be welcome now.

Ol Brian and his 'handlers' may also have the last laugh. Being the one who holds out the longest can demand the most money. No Brian, no interest (limited anyway) in a Beach Boys reunion. And to think some here mock Brians management.

I think a lot of Brians comments may also relate to the business side of things. If he makes it clear that a reunion ain't going to happen then promoters and punters are more likely to view his shows as the only option to see him. The day he states he is up for a reunion for a album or onstage, the demand for Brian Wilson as a solo artist would dry up.

I kind of like the obscure that only those in the know would understand. A thread came up awhile back for a car number plate and some good ones came up there.
My weird idea would be 'Sounds', as in your Pet 'Sounds'.
I think Pawthorne has the board vote though.

That game sucks anyway!
So if a game was made that was based solely on the Beach Boys you wouldn't buy it or even play it? Make it interesting and I would try it. The music with the added sex, drugs, heroes and villains, Landy, Manson, lawsuits etc would be quite a challenge.

I know this was discussed awhile back. For you completists? $1400! http://www.genesis-publications.com/lucky/index.htmlPublicity gig in London. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=1038083&c=1Brian Wilson brings Sun to London 10:58 | Friday July 3, 2009 By Ben Cardew Brian Wilson last night played a secret gig at a London private members club to mark the release of a new book of illustrations based around his recent album That Lucky Old Sun. The former Beach Boy played an eight-song acoustic set backed by three members of his band, which included Beach Boys classics and tracks from the new album. The book, published by Genesis Publications, is billed as a collaboration between Wilson and renowned British artist Sir Peter Blake. It comprises a series of original collages draw their inspiration from That Lucky Old Sun. The cloth-bound, hand-numbered book is signed by both Wilson and Blake and also includes a historical essay and interview with Wilson by music journalist and author Harvey Kubernik, in which he speaks about the inspirations for the album. Also featured in the portfolio are Wilson’s hand-written sheet music and lyrics to the track Midnight’s Another Day reproduced in facsimile, an original laminate VIP pass from the live performance of That Lucky Old Sun and a CD pressing of the album. The event took place at 1 Alfred Place in central London, where pictures from the book were on display.

Just a mention. The page has a section for posts. One caught my eye.
From Suzy Cincinnatti
Many years later, Shawn became ill, and needed some of Mike’s DNA (bone marrow??— maybe..??). Anyway, Mike refused, and she died
It's a old unknown re the was he/ was he not the father question, but did the above happen or just a anti Mike myth?
