Good guesses, RangeRover! Thanks Amanda! What are you waiting for, go buy one! EgoHanger, I'm always waiting for somebody to recognize my Brian Sandbox shirt, and a coworker who's very hip and musical finally did, and it made me happy. But that's the only one so far. (and I'm honored that my shirt is being discussed at parties!!!) Now I'll keep waiting for somebody to recognize the Radiant Radish shirt. I might die waiting. Soooo... whoever did buy this, I want you to wear this to a Brian show, especially if you're going to do a meet & greet. And then just wait for Brian to say "what the hey, where did you get that shirt?!?" Of course, the other outcome is Brian has no memory of ever owning a health food and vitamin store

I pretty much love this album. Played it a ton last summer, still play it occasionally. I think FTTBA is a legit all-time "melancholy" Beach Boys classic, and Isn't It Time is allllmost a legit all-time "fun" Beach Boys classic. I'm always surprised by the hate that Bill & Sue get, I realize the verse lyrics are kinda cheesy, and the verses themselves aren't super exciting, but man, that chorus is so much fun, so many voices, so great to sing along to, and perfectly fine lyrically. (I also think it's some kind of awesome that there's a new Beach Boys song from 2012 that's about reality TV and namechecks Jersey Shore (well, maybe the place more than the show, but still)) And and and I know two people named Bill and Sue who are a real life couple, so that's fun. When i first got the album I made my own mix of it, removing Daybreak and Beaches in Mind, and adding Don't Fight the Sea. But you know what, eventually I started to miss Daybreak and Beaches. I'd be lying if I said I haven't woken up in the morning humming those songs to myself more than once. They do get pretty catchy after a few listens. I also like that you can sorta make two EPs out of this if you want, one of more respectable, mature, melancholy Beach Boys, and one of cheesier, funner Beach Boys. No autotune complaints really, no production issues, I think Al sounds great on FTTBA, and I can hear the Harpsichord in Shelter just fine I think this album is a minor miracle, all things considering, and pretty darn good, not considering any things.

Other observations:
Brian sounds really nice on All This Is That. His "two waves and I..." part especially. I guess Jeff is probably doubling him, but I totally hear Brian.
Also, Brian's opening lines of California Saga sound really good too, but also sounds like late 80s Brian when he gets to "on my way to spend another sunny day." You know, when his voice was a little bit strange, when he was still trying to sing kinda high, but shouty.
Thoughts?

Man you guys are harsh!! I consider myself a hardcore fan, but I guess I'm not since most of this live album sounds pretty good to me. Mike doesn't sound too strong, but then again, he hasn't sounded too strong lately, so that was expected. The only thing that's been making me groan so far are Jeff's falsetto parts. They made me actually wince during "Hawaii", but in the other songs they're merely meh, and not entirely offensive. But man, why is it that his falsetto just... doesn't... quite.... work? (altho it sounds pretty good and Brian-like on Getcha Back and I Get Around) I don't have a single issue with autotune anywhere. I listen to lots of "modern" music so I guess I'm used to it, but I really can't even pick it up (ok, maybe when Brian sings "the magic of that summer in loOooOOove"). I don't think anyone here sounds like a robot. Not even half man half machine all Jardine. As for sounding dead, sterile, free of energy... I dunno, I've been tapping my foot for a good hour now. As for it not sounding live, I dunno, it sure sounds sloppy enough to be live Other thoughts.... -Bruce sounds surprisingly good on Disney Girls. -Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnn..... -The audience seems to be eating up Mike's jokes. -What does Mike say after the "electricity" line in California Saga? "It's nice to have..."? -Brian sounds good on All This is That Anyhoo, just wanted to chime in, because participating is good! cheers!

Thanks for bringing this topic up again. I'm a newer member of the board. This is one of those threads where we're discussing several themes, but going back to the 2 Corbis pics posted by Bean Bag, would those pics have been taken in the mid 1980s? I"m not so well-versed on Brian's appearance during that decade. I didn't realize Brian lost that much weight. It was downright scary to look at.
I wonder what a slideshow would look like if it had pics of Brian say every couple of months from the mid '70s through the '80s. Pretty jarring probably.
Why I'm happy you asked! It would look just like this! (well, if it were a slideshow of his whole adult life) http://dellydel.com/brianwilson/brianwilson.html

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / David Bowie and old people rocking.

I'm wondering if you guys have heard Bowie's new single, The Stars (are out tonight)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH7dMBcg-gEand what your thoughts are? One of the biggest complaints about TWGMTR was the lack of really "rocking" songs. While some people would say the Beach Boys never really rocked that hard, I would beg to differ. They just rocked in their own BB way. But while I personally loved TWGMTR, it could have indeed rocked harder. So what do you guys think, is Bowie at 66 years of age rocking sufficiently hard? Should be Beach Boys at 70 be rocking harder?

Thanks guys! Now what the heck do I do with this thing? I'd like to send it to Brian for his next birthday or something, but how do I do that? I wonder if I can just post it on his Facebook page and people will actually see it? But I guess I gotta finish tweaking it first. Thanks tho, someday it will indeed be the coolest thing on the internet!!

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Why haven't the band's total sales been properly audited?

I've heard the BBs sometimes referred to as "America's biggest selling rock band of all time." But it's hard to confirm, because that's only true from a certain point of view... the BBs are a singles band much more than an albums band, so it's not the type of list that counts big albums, but big songs. Or something. So, does anyone know if THAT is true, so I can keep saying it to whoever will hear it?

Thanks ya'll! Here's the link to t-shirts/prints for whoever is interested... http://society6.com/dellydel/Brians-Sandbox_Print...and let me say, I have not bought this shirt yet for myself so I can't vouch for how awesome it comes out... if you're interested but want to wait until you see a real one, I'll post a photo of mine when it arrives. But for what it's worth, I've ordered from Society6 before and their stuff is always fine... And hey SMiLE Brian, that's a good idea, but I'm probably too lazy for that. What I MIGHT do is make a pet sounds version of this design, dress Brian accordingly, and have a goat dancing on top of the piano in the classic style of Snoopy dancing
