Does any Elvis C fan know if he worked with Zapp frontman Roger Troutman on the 'Otherside of Summer' song?. It says so on Wikipedia, but I don't hear Roger on Talkbox, but when listening to the song, it does sound like a Roger type production.
I looked all through the credits on the cd version of "Mighty Like A Rose ' and don't see his name anywhere.

One I've been listening to lately, Watertown by Frank Sinatra. It still gets a few bad reviews but most of the reviews I see today range from "criminally underrated" to "one of his best". I find it to be one of his best, though I do understand why some don't like it. That is one of the few albums in my collection that envelops me and stays with me for a few days. I rarely listen but I must always listen to the full album...and then that mood lingers.

Finally saw the documentary(extended version, 90 minutes or so). I enjoyed it very much although it didn't tell me much I didn't already know. I did enjoy seeing EC revisit some of the places from his youth and seeing clips of his father. Maybe a newbie would get much more from the documentary than me, but if I were going to recommend something to a newcomer, I'd tell them to watch the music video dvd collection "The Right Spectacle".
I do agree about "Extreme Honey" and I think "Pomp and Pout" is a good collection of his even later period

Yes, apparently Bruce wrote a book of "fictional" characters and used EC as a villain and that was the final straw for at least a few years. EC wrote "How To Be Dumb" in response. Later, Bruce rejoined the band for the Brutal Youth and All This Useless Beauty albums and tours but the bad blood returned and proved to be too much. I do remember they all were at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction and EC acknowledged the feud and I think they may have performed that night without Bruce but I remember the speech more than the performance.

I will see the documentary tonight and perhaps write about it tomorrow(or later tonight). I have been a fan since Mighty Like A Rose, which was the first album of his that I heard. I was born in 1970 and somehow missed what for most people was his "best" era. The only knowledge I had of him was that he was this odd looking guy with the glasses who always looked angry. I saw footage of his appearance on Saturday Night Live and so I judged him based on these things and not his songs or ability. When Mighty Like A Rose was released, there was a review in our local newspaper and I read the review and it made me interested to give it a shot. At that time I was 21 and had a little disposable income and took a chance and bought the cassette of the album and loved it. I then found a cheap Columbia greatest hits cd and bought that and loved it. I ended up buying his catalog on cd and then reissues and whatever I could find. I dearly love the Rhino reissues as each has a bonus disc with wonderful extras. In a few cases the bonus discs redeem the originally released album....I appreciate Goodbye Cruel World so much more now. I guess North is the release I have enjoyed the least. I went into it with high expectations after dearly loving the albums preceding it, but it just didn't get into it at all. In fact I've only listened once so maybe now that a few years have passed, I'd "get it". I don't have a particular favorite album. I find myself not listening to complete albums like I once did, but instead listen to the compilations of his work that I have made. He is one of the few artists for me that I can play the music over and over and still discover new things. He is also the only artist in my huge music collection who has forced me to go to a dictionary to find the meaning of a word.

certainly there are unauthorized Russian CD's of nearly all of these albums)
100% correct. I'm about to travel there for the fourth time and I'm always amazed to see what is available in the music shops. The last time I was there I saw hundreds of data-cd compilations that contained entire discographies of hundreds of bands in mp3 form.

Funny, I was just visiting the blog of our member soniclovenoize and thinking how I'd like for him to assemble the original running order of the "Secret Messages" album. Of course I think all but one of the songs has been officially released whether on box sets or as bonus tracks on the cd reissue of that album. I think "Beatles Forever" is the only track to never have an official release and the best copy I heard was on a youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmyoDizxXdM Not one of his best songs, but I'd still like it to be released. All in all I guess "Time" is my favorite album of theirs. It came out when I was 11, so I only later found their earlier wonderful body of work. By the way, I love their side of the Xanadu soundtrack as well. I still have a 45 with the B-side "Drum Dreams", which I guess hasn't been issued on cd?

I just saw 35 minutes of the televised "Campfire" segments from 1989. I somehow hadn't seen that before and was blown away by how good it was and how funny and nice everyone seemed towards each other during what I imagine was just one of many turbulent times for the band. I wasn't able to find a full discussion about the segments(have a headache and need sleep, so maybe I missed something staring me directly in the face) so I was wondering if someone could kindly direct me to a discussion on that topic or perhaps discuss it here. Also, were any of the members in later interviews asked to give their reflections about this part of their story? Maybe some people who were at the taped segments have told some interesting stories? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZylusEw-68 Campfire segment starts at 1:05:46
