Maybe... but Capital certainly did.
4  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Adventures In Duophonic on: June 13, 2013, 06:03:49 PM
My best friend had almost that exact Magnavox in his bedroom and we whomped the walls with those first three or four BB albums, and that's exactly how the Duophonic discs sounded. BIG, LOUD and totally BALANCED.

I think we played those albums so much you could hear both sides at once.

So yeah, finally a really good thread that hasn't been raped by the Mike Love bashers and the Nose-in-the-air BB snobs that keep a dark cloud over this board.

Mr. Moto says 'The  Beach Boys' turned left when Dave Marks turned right. Or was it really the other way around? No matter, Bra, the wahinis didn't care either way.
6  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Moon Dawg - Venet - Weaver - Carl - DOE - TOBLER on: February 15, 2013, 08:23:35 PM
So when does the current author step up and explain why he says that Weaver is Nik Venet ?

Does he also think that Murry Wilson was Murry the K ?

...and Brian's behavior, of course, has always been impeccable. Brian's faultless life serves as an exemplary model that makes one wonder how Mike could fail to notice and emulate. Shame on Mike for being a big fat lazy mental case.

Al was the greatest, because he eats desert before the main meal.

and he looked better in a A-fuel Dragster than Michael Dukakis looked in an army tank.  police

If Denny was still with us, he'd sock all of you in the solar-plexus.  LOL (or kick you in the nuts.)

Actually scratch that, Capitol LOST the master tape while working on Stack O' Tracks.

 The story is well-known

No, it's not. Trust me.

12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I actually really like the disco version of \ on: September 16, 2012, 12:01:03 AM
I agree. It's quite good, for what it is.

And, IMO it's the best Disco song ever recorded. After all, it IS The Beach Boys.
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: opinion of \ on: September 15, 2012, 11:57:53 PM
Mike is rather excellent on this song. Carl sucks, which ruins it for me.
The whole song is contrived, self-serving, trivial poop. But it's about Brian Wilson, so it needs to be enshrined.
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Thread For VIP Experiences on: September 15, 2012, 11:53:38 PM
Come to think of it, there was 'one' VIP item that is actually useful. It's a plastic strip about 1.5" wide and maybe 6" long. It's a fakey complimentary ticket replica.

It's worthless, but I use it as a bookmark while reading all the absurdly worshipful, factually inaccurate, profit-driven Brian Wilson Books written by all the absurdly worshipful, factually vacuous, name-dropping authors who dream them up.

Why do I bother reading them?

Amusement.

NO
16  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: When Mitt Romney becomes president.... on: September 10, 2012, 10:52:02 PM
After reading all this (mostly) leftist counter-culture tripe, I wonder why any of you even love the Beach Boys.

Oh, that's right. You don't.
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Thread For VIP Experiences on: September 10, 2012, 10:39:58 PM
I purposefully did NOT spring for the meet and greet. Why shell out an additional $125 to be hearded thru like cattle by some VIP hosts, who wouldn't know The Beach Boys from Iron Butterfly, to have a cookie cutter snapshot taken on an assembly line basis by a machine like crew?

At the show, they promised to send the T-shirt in the mail due to not having any at the show. Ok...fine.
Thing is, when the T-shirt arrived it was of the wimpiest fruit-of-the-loom wieght; so thin you can see thru it. Dopey '15 Big Ones' era graphics. YUK. Stingy short sleeves. Just crap.

The tote-bag? Gimme a break. What a totally useless product. Who needs it? Ugly black.......awful and useless.

The poster? Ho 'freakin' Hum. A poster. Paper and ink molecules. Dopey '15 Big Ones' style graphics.

What did I get that was worth the VIP cost? Not much.

Got to stand in line in the sun for 90 minutes waiting, and then finally herded like cattle into the so-called 'Sound check' which was a really poor excuse for a quality experience, mostly due to being scolded and warned about all the stuff you couldn't do.

The sound check lasted about 25 minutes and was not really a sound-check at all, since they failed to solve any of the P.A. issues that plagued the band most of the night. Mostly just a moment of frivolity by the hamster himself....Bruce Johnston.

I'm glad the rest of you relished that kind of treatment. They say you get the government you deserve (so true) and evidently the same thing applies to VIP and the Beach Boys.

I still love Mike Love and The Beach Boys, and Brian Wilson too, even though he sleep-walked thru most of the show.
VIP can go screw.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Why does Brian like the number five? on: August 25, 2012, 08:34:52 PM
Brian and Dave Clark had a meeting at Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
Dave Clark blindfolded Brian and said "I'm holding my hand up. How many fingers?"

22  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Moon Dawg - Venet - Weaver - Carl - DOE - TOBLER on: August 14, 2012, 10:29:23 AM
I seem to recall hearing many years ago that Venet claimed he used Weaver's name as an alias after Weaver died so that his family could receive some royalities (or something like that). Then it turned out that Weaver was still alive, and a lot of Venet's stories unraveled as being not-so-true (like the one that had Brian singing lead on the Basil Swift version of "Farmer's Daughter"; we know now it's Danny Hutton).

Thank you. Good to see that somebody is willing to step up to the plate.

Which is more than can be said for 'the author' who shall remain nameless (AGD). LOL Smokin

Yet, even this information doesn't explain 'the authors' vague and evasive stance.
