My first concert was back in 2012 in Berlin, with many guys from this board tagging along... I was very excited, a bit drunk (not too much) and just a tad worried I might be disappointed, as it was the most anticipated concert for me like, ever. But when Do It Again began and the guys took the stage, all my worries went out the door: these guys are pro, they know what they are doing and they are doing. Screw all the Brian/Mike-squabbles, it's the songs and the music that matter, and in that respect these guys always deliver, no matter what the configuration. Of course, there are better nights and not-so-great nights, but it's never going to be total sh*t.

Haven't bought the CD but listened to the outtakes on Spotify. Dammit, them Boys blew me away once again! Such revelatory, beautiful pieces... Heartwarming to hear Brian so into it. Of course, the proof has been in the pudding all these years, but hearing him guide the guys and sounding so enthused really makes me feel good, even though I've known for ages that the "he went to bed after Smile" was just a myth. Great stuff. Can't wait to get my own copy.
My only gripe is we don't have full Hawaii concerts... Oh well. A download-only live album would satisfy my soul. Please?

Well, I was in Pori, and I loved every minute of. Especially the minutes when Brian performed. It was cold and raining most of the time, but as Brian said, "a little downpour won't hurt ya" (or something like that).
They played one 1,5 hour long set, first deepish cuts, then PS and finishing with some sweet rockin' hits. On a positive note, the band was MUCH more together than the last time I saw Brian (London, May 2016). I mean, playing and singing were out of this world. Al was amazing, Darian did great on Darlin', you know the score... Some people were a bit baffled by Blondie's contributions, like "who is this guy and what is he doing to these songs". Personally, I found his slot refreshing. His guitar playing injected a hefty dose of avant garde noise shredding to Wild Honey, I'd say it was the closest to Captain Beefheart I've heard in any Beach Boys related concert. Blondie's a great guy, not out to please but to kick ass and terrorize bourgeoisie!
As for Brian himself, he was more into it and engaged than I've ever seen him. I especially loved his introduction to Pet Sounds title track: "On the guitar, Nicky Wonder... On the drums... The drums are GREAT!" But I have to admit, his singing has gone downhill quite a bit. When he sang harmony he was spot on, but when he took leads, his phrasing was rather breathless and gruff, long notes cut short and rhytmically all over the place... But then again, it was a jazz festival, and in a way he just jazzified it. It made singing along quite difficult, with rhytmic curveballs coming all the time. I didn't mind, though!
And hey: you COULD hear Brian's piano and Al's guitar loud and clear, and they both really know what they're doing. Especially Al... What a rhytm guitarist! He was perfectly in the pocket all the time, and he really added to the sound. My hero.

Endless Harmony -version. i don't know why, maybe because it sounded so fresh when I first heard it after hearing the two released versions so many times. RondaRhonda has never been among my favourites, but EH version helped me realize how great song it is, after all.

Shut Down 2 starting with FFF and DWB. And All Summer Long with IGA and ASL. In mean, those always bring this stupid smile to my face, like "yeah, two alltime immortal classic Travis back to back, yeah that's one way to start an album"... Not to meantion they were their lord knows how manyeth albums within what, about two years? The year of everything.

Great Album. WAY better than 1985, and keeps you awake better than L.A. Right up there with Carl and the Passions in my books.
Great songs:
Some of Your Love (classic Beach Boys, what's not to love here?) School Day (great song, spirited performance, I happen to like rock music!) Goin' On (one of my all time BB-faves, nothing guilty in this pleasure.)
Good songs:
When Girls Get Together (odd, but beautiful. Opened my mind to realize how women think, thanks boys!) Santa Ana Winds (Al doing what he does best.) Endless Harmony (epic, the great American story put to music, where it belongs.)
Less good songs:
Okay, both Carl songs on this one are quite bland. Semi-catchy at best.
sh*t:
Sunshine (but hey, it adds value, I mean this is THE only BB song I really, really don't like. Thatä's some achievement.)

The more the merrier, embrace all, there is no grave, bring back the good times. Although I wouldn't say this place is dying... It's been quiet lately, but there haven't really been any new developements. I wouldn't mind some more activity, especially about music.

Some drugs just lower the treshold, and you might come up with and explore wacky new ideas more easily. But it's still coming from the creative person, not from the drugs. They're merely a tool, a shortcut. For a sensitive guy like Brian, I'd say they were ultimately a villain.
