Chorus of "Hawaii" and 2nd verse:

Go to Hawaii, Hawaii
(Hawaii, Hawaii)
Straight to Hawaii
(Hawaii, Hawaii)
Or do you wanna come along with me?
(Honolulu, Waikiki)
(Do you wanna come along with me?)

Now, I don't know what town you're from
But don't tell me that they got bigger waves
'Cause everyone that goes
Comes back with nothing but raves

Gotcha, what new evidence came out? I have "family" that live in rural Penn, worst examples of the human race that I have ever met.

I live in rural Pennsylvania.   LOL
Your a cool poster.  angel These family members I am talking about would be slime no matter where they live due to their white trash behavior.

I hear ya.  I'm surrounded by the type.  Those of us who can appreciate the irony call our part of central Penn "Pennsyltucky".

Found this write-up (not sure of historical accuracy, but it's a nice tribute) on patheos:  http://www.patheos.com/blogs/feastofeden/2013/01/the-psychodramas-and-the-traumas-gone-the-songs-are-left-unsung-tandyn-almer-1942-2013/

Maher has used this line at least once before (in November).

I think they profit from material that's in the public domain by now.

Go to: http://www.notnowmusic.co.uk/ for a glance.

Am I right in saying that there was a change in copyright law in the UK as regards sound recordings to extend from 50 to 70 years?  I'm not sure how this "Surfin' Safari" is legal under the new law.  Did it originate elsewhere?  Or do I not understand the law?

"Flick Of The Switch" by AC/DC

My favorite AC/DC album by far.  It's nearly perfect.  Yet, it may be their least known album.
108  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What is your top 3 most listened to BB songs as of now? on: December 03, 2012, 07:28:44 PM
1.  Good Vibrations
2.  California Girls
3.  Wouldn't It Be Nice
109  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson - Songwriter: 1969 - 1982 [DVD] coming September 17. on: November 04, 2012, 02:56:59 PM
Highlights for me: - Professor Lambert speaking about and demonstrating "This Whole World."  That one really should have been the lead off single for Sunflower.

- The American Spring segment.

- Some insightful stuff on the Brian's Back era.

- Stephen Desper, Peter Ames Carlin, Professor Lambert, Domenic Priore were all outstanding.  (Barney Hoskyns was interesting, but very quick to side against Mike unnecessarily.  Bruce Johnston's stuff seemed to be hold-overs from the first DVD production.)

Complaint (Mild one):  The ending was a cold stop and felt rushed.  Somehow 1978-1982 and beyond were encapsulated in like 5 minutes (KTSA was not mentioned at all).

Thanks!  That "Windows of Time" got a fair amount of indy press when it was released, as I recall.  Or at least enough to cause me to purchase it, listen to it twice, then ultimately, ignore.
111  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Mike Pinder on: November 03, 2012, 07:24:20 AM
The Patrick situation was quite messy. Around 1986 or so, the band hired Bias Boshell on keyboards to back up Patrick, who had made it a point to randomly no-show at gigs. By 1990, three tracks into the Keys of the Kingdom sessions, Patrick quit and then sued the band, claiming years of unpaid back royalties and live fees, and also that the band had allegedly promised him the status of a full member. The band countered with the fact that Patrick had signed paperwork with the band in 1981 that listed him as a paid musician and that he would be paid on a gig by gig basis. He sued the band for something like $5 million and won, but only $125,000. Highlights from the trial were actually aired on Court TV in the United States - it's required listening. Patrick basically made a complete fool of himself, which probably contributed to the judge giving him a paltry fee.

Patrick remarked years later that Justin Hayward "would cut his mother's throat if it meant he'd get ahead."

Thanks!  That's more than I've ever heard/seen before.  It does, however, remind me of stories surrounding him as it relates to his previous bands (Yes, Refugee, Mainhorse) as well.  He seems to be a difficult guy with whom to work.
Our own Erik H. on this board met him and its quite the story. LOL

Yes, that is a much cherished, much hilarious incident Smiley

If you posted it before, point me in the right direction.  Or might you care to share again?  I am intrigued!

Understandable situation by the remaining members, thought Mike should have had some input IMO. Justin and John are great keepers of the legacy at this point after ditching Tony Visconti and Patrick Moraz. I get mad at the way Ray was treated as a sideman in the 1980s by record company.

What happened with Moraz at the end?  I felt that he played a pretty integral role in the 80s and then he was gone.  I've not found much info detailing that period.

I've got a great love for 'Let It Shine' but I love Jeff Lynne's work as well.  So, the Brian/Jeff combo works for me.  A few days ago, this article showed up in which Jeff talked about his favorite albums.  He discusses 'Let It Shine' briefly.

115  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What *Beach Boys* Are You Listening To Right Now? on: October 10, 2012, 08:58:28 PM
Heavy Rotation Right Now:

1.  "In Concert"  (Solid collection, though I prefer boots from that era.)
2.  "Summer Love Songs"  (I really enjoy this mix of songs an the sound is pretty sharp too.)
3.  "Concert/Live in London 69" 2-fer  ("Concert" is energetic enough, but I much prefer "London 69")
4.  "Made in U.S.A."  (Just picked up my first copy of this one to get R&R to the Rescue.  Decent collection.)
5.  "Isn't It Time"  (the iTunes single.  Really like SOS and California Girls.  I'm less keen on DIA- way too much post-production.)
116  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys In Concert on: October 01, 2012, 05:06:44 PM
Absolutely pick up the 2000 remaster. It sounds better and has better transitions from song to song. It also has the full intro to Wouldn't It Be Nice.

Thanks so much!  I was having a tough time finding info on differences between the two.
117  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys In Concert on: October 01, 2012, 05:01:27 PM
I just picked this one up and am enjoying it immensely.  I bought the 1991 Epic CD and am now wondering if I should pick up the 2000 Capitol remaster?  Can anyone advise as to whether or not the 2000 release is an improvement on the prior one in any way?
118  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is anybody going to one of the Mike&Bruce gigs? on: September 30, 2012, 06:07:40 PM
To answer the thread question, I'd consider going but I was really hoping the New Year would bring better news.

Still no reason it can't -- if the full band do a summer tour like this year, that would probably start late April/early May again, or maybe later. And this year Mike & Bruce were performing as late as late March.

Excellent point, and to be fair to the M+B team, I was most positively surprised by John Cowsill and Scott Totten having never seen them before.  So, I'd definitely consider the M+B show if life allows.

And, Andrew, I am very much looking forward to your second book in the Beach Boys on CD series!

Just got this in email from Ticketmaster:  On sale 10/1 at 10am.  It would appear that they are booking dates at least as far out as April of next year.

120  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: THE ENDLESS SUMMER WILL CONTINUE AFTER THE BEACH BOYS 50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR WRAP on: September 21, 2012, 12:42:45 PM
Part of the issue to me is the timing.  He is going to go on tour with a different band in a few weeks.  I would think it could be a problem if they are on shows to promote the new "Isn't It Time," and then the band performing in concert is completely different..... or maybe no one outside of Beach Boys Nerdum cares, or maybe they won't promote the single at all.

I wonder if the M+B band will play TWGMTR or Isn't It Time in their shows?

122  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: ISN'T IT TIME SINGLE VERSION (BBC Radio 2) LISTEN NOW on: September 03, 2012, 10:43:32 AM
I think it is a nice improvement on the album version.  It has a "live" feel and I like the changes with the possible exception of the Mike bridge.  I didn't love the Jeff bridge, but wonder how it might have sounded if Bruce had sung the "Jeff bridge" on this version.  Then, it would have clearly featured the 4 primary vocalists.

124  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Isn't It Time is next single on: August 27, 2012, 09:48:26 AM

This is probably the first known live recording of the actual single version:

http://youtu.be/r_XGVJmXEWM

Note the different (Al's) and the very different bridge.
Also note that is different both from the album version AND the "updated" live version they used to play towards the end of the US tour.

Bruce sounds great on this one.  I can't pick him out on the album version.
