One time, Murry asked the three boys if they wanted to take a ride in the car. They all said, "Sure!" They took a spin over to Murry's local bank branch. He said to the boys, "I'm just going to be a few minutes. Brian, why don't you sit behind the wheel and take charge of the music. I know how you're 'into' that kind of thing." The boys hung out in the car and waited. Several minutes later, Murry came running out of the bank with large sacks with dollar signs on them. One morning, Murry woke the boys up at a staggeringly early 4AM. "We're going fishing!" he said. "We need an early start." The boys got showered and got dressed and marched downstairs with their fishing poles. Just as they were about to go, Murry looked in the fridge and said, "Oh, sorry, I forgot I just got some fish yesterday. Go back to bed."

Everytime the family were out, Murry would make the boys stop and watch whenever they encountered an old man eating a sandwich.

At Brian's birthday party, Murry tried to impress Brian's friends by showing them how he could literally cough up a lung.

Murry once filled a boot with horse manure and forced Dennis to hold it and go door-to-door asking if it belonged to anyone.

Once Murry tried to get Brian to mould for him an ashtray using nothing but his ass and some mud.

Murry convinced Carl that he was Mexican and then made him wear a fake moustache.

The stories are endless, really.

Every week, The Wilsons would sit down to watch The Twilight Zone together. No matter what the episode was about Murry would yell, "Actually, they're STILL on Planet Earth!" every three minutes. This wasn't necessarily a punishment but it was really annoying.

Such behaviour is of course not acceptable!

To me it's not about money though, I just want to enjoy great BB songs. The better the production, the better the song. That's why I want BB to hire a better producer.

Taking that argument to its logical extension, should they also hire better musicians, songwriters and singers?

You can't compare a tin can on wheels – a car, a consumer good – to a collection of music – artistic statements/products/etc.

Of course you can, a product is as product. There are different types of products out there, they come in all forms and shapes. When it all comes down to dust products are produced to appeal to us and we buy them to make our lives better. A car can make your life better and so can a BB album. If we feel the product was not worth the money we spent on it we complain.

To me it's not about money though, I just want to enjoy great BB songs. The better the production, the better the song. That's why I want BB to hire a better producer.

To that end, you need to qualify your statement "Benny Andersson is a lot better producer than Wilson/Thomas combined" by adding "in my opinion". Benny might well have shifted more units than Brian, but then so has Kraft Dairylea.

Guy from ABBA.  No slouch on the production front, and clearly fond of doing the odd Beach Boys pastiche.  But anyone who thinks he's a good match for the actual Boys should probably listen to Mike Love's cover of Bjorn and Benny's "On And On And On" from "Looking Back With Love" -- that'll cure you fairly quick...

Logical fallacy 101.

If you want to determine if Benny's a good producer, then why not listen to songs he has produced. Not to songs he has not produced.

OK, I stand corrected. Not.

Benny Andersson has sold at least 4 times as many records as Brian Wilson. Brian was a genius -  Benny still is. He keeps writing and producing marvelous songs without the need of a "best friend" (like BW:s Usher, Norberg, Asher, VDP, Love, Paley, Thomas and Bennett). Sure, Björn Ulvaeus is providing him lyrics, but that's it.

Benny's latest album (Spotify link: http://open.spotify.com/album/4MiR2wGXLHwWYgQBQ9fJKv) is as good as anything he has written. The production is stellar and the vocals are not butchered by different digital effects. Please, let him produce the next BB album.

Your post is ridiculous, I do not know why I even reply to it, must be due to my level of intoxication. Of course everyone is entitled to:

1) ...their own opinions on any matter (Beach Boys albums included)
2) ...expressing their own opinions in public

Let's say you buy a car. Should you as a customer STFU just because you bought it? What if it is not as good as you wanted (expected) it to be, would it be wrong of you to criticize certain aspects of the car? Sure, you did not make the car, but does that fact take away your right to criticize how the car is made and/or how it performs?

The production of TWGMTR is not as good as it could have been. I am not afraid to say out loud Benny Andersson is a lot better producer than Wilson/Thomas combined. Why? Because I want to enjoy this (and the next) album as much as possible. The better it is, the more I enjoy it.

Why is this important? Goods and services we enjoy make our lives better. A good BB album makes our lives better, a bad BB album does not.

It's a no brainer.

Although I wouldn't switch any of the songs on That's Why God Made The Radio for "Waves of Love", I would like to hear The Beach Boys version, because it does have potential, and is one of the best things that Al has written.

Strangely enough, the album version of "Waves" sounds like the Beach Boys. You've got the lead vocal on the chorus sung by Carl, the "dit dit, dit-dit" backgrounds sound a *lot* like Bruce, and I could swear the big, deep "Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaah" at the start of the sax solo is Mike.

The intro of Waves of Love sounds like California Girls.

It's well worth noting The Beach Boys had no Amazon number ones in the sixties. Reason enough to have a drink!

Digged that Love You was there, but I think basically it was made by some LA hipsters who dig the beach boys and submitted to Capitol much like the competition one for H&V. Capitol prob went 'ye this is good, shows young ppl interested, doesnt cost us anything as album is out already, why not?'

I still prefer the fan one, but where di it go? I cant find it now   it had lots of clips from concerts back in the 70's and stuff

The synth (?) in Strange World around 2:37 is very similar to the "...and I know she loves me" line in Island Girl.

It's passable but not as great as my ideas for a TWGMTR video are.
