but nothing is 'free'. and what and who you love is Losing.....
I see where you're coming from, nevertheless, is an artist really losing after multiple downloads? It seems to me they only win, because it's in & popular today & helps get their name (esp. obscure ones) to the masses in record time, it's called "smart marketing" (or do I mix it up with sth. else? Correction where necessary, I think HeyJude knows the answer being an expert in all this showbiz stuff).

Also, I highly recommend the movie 'Don't Look Back' and 'No Direction Home' to get a better understanding of Bob Dylan.
PS, I guarantee you that without Bob Dylan there would be no Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, White Album, Rubber Soul as we know them. Dylan turned The Beatles onto marijuana, and marijuana helped shape the road the Beatles traveled down (much like it took Brian Wilson's songwriting to another level). Dylan also influenced the lyrical writing of The Beatles. Timothy White does a great job connecting the influences of The Beach Boys, Byrds, Bob Dylan, Beatles in his book 'The Nearest Faraway Place'.
I still don't get why people find his voice grating (but I respect your opinion), regardless, his lyrics, the music itself, and Dylan's effect on music since is nothing matched by any single artist since.
In turn, I don't get why you need to upgrade Dylan in hopes to convert the non-fans to his singing/songwriting. He's not the be-all, end-all of his era, there are lots of possible better songs & artists to explore. All musicians in a circular way get influence from each other - so what? Does it mean we should thank them for that & always repeat how an album X would be no way creative w/o an artist Z? And believe me, there are lots of people that find his voice "grating", so at this point no one should be surprised by it. Still, I respect your opinion too. Will check those movies, you never know, I might turn up once a big Dylan fan.

what you suggest is the reason why the music (and movie) industry is stuffed.....
everyone keeps downloading everything for free, how the ^uck does anyone get paid for their work???
it's ok to say just 'download it for free on xxx', but that's killing music/movie industry.
But you can't escape the reality of the 21st century, the only thing you're left to do is deal with it. If someone posted a song on YT, would you rather go buy it or conveniently download it without cash-grabbing? You may be a muso, but also a listener of other works. Lots of famous & non artists actually don't mind it; I receive lots of E-mails from NoiseTrade offering me the latest EP by Sufjan Stevens (just a few days ago) or whoever.

"Feel Flows" is a very strong composition & he played just about everything there! As a fan, I like to find out when/if the band did the backing track on it's own. Carl had beautiful voice, no doubt, however, during the 70s it became a wee lazy & incoherent. He was great all along the 60s, even the early years. My favorite Carl lead is "How She Boogalooed It", so groovy & fun, big evidence he wasn't a quiet one & could easily overshadow his "angelic" side if it required so. Conversely, "GOK" remains to be his best 3 minutes.
Should be noted too, he's been known to utter zingers, no less funny than Brianism.

Seeing as English isn't your first language, allow me to explain: of the MANY women I've spoken to who knew Dennis, ALL of them agreed his charm was irresistible. That's all of the women I spoke to, not all of the women in the world. Hope that makes things clear.
You underestimate my English - I understood every word of that post initially. But you said earlier: We're talking Dennis Wilson here, in the sixties and seventies... I doubt there was a woman who would say no, and I can imagine quite a few men who wouldn't either.
Surely, "I doubt there was a woman" can be read as "all women in the world", amirite? Then, you weirdly post the above sentence about speaking with many women. Hence my "Many" doesn't equal "all", right? I'd give a hunch by many you mean 20 or so women, which isn't even the whole street, if we're talking from the geographic point of view. Next time before telling me I'm wrong, make sure to check your memory, deal? No kinship to anyone here.

I know nothing about lawsuits & I really don't give a fig about who stole the riff/ borrowed this or that. Yaaawnsville. Instead, let me turn it back to Spirit. This is a good band. Their song "Fresh Garbage" was featured in one of those numerous psychedelic comps. The lead singer has fantastic voice; lots of echo, but it's not enough psych, more like progressive rock. I hear Indian, also African influences, the tribal call & such. Solid song.

Pet Sounds has lyrics as good as any Beatles song
Beatles had their share of dumb lyrics as well, for instance, "Obladi Oblada" (silly Jamaican gibberish), "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" (just a boring repetition of the title), Wild Honey Pie (though I love it musically & vocally), "Savoy Truffle" (same), "Octopus's Garden" (same), "What's the New, Mary Jane?" (plain awful, musically too), "I Am the Walrus" (chain of disconnected words) etc. etc.

Though I must admit I kinda prefer winter over summer.
And I'd probably go crazy if I lived in Africa lol.
Me too! Indian summer is my choice, not the actual. I agree, poor Africans, they have to deal with the heat on a daily basis. Least they have a very interesting culture. I like the sound of tom-toms, tribe stories, legends, what they live for & stuff. And you? Is Africa fascinates you in any way other than the weather? Say yes.

My favorite dessert is a chocolate (any variation that doesn't contain amaretto/liquor, pistachio/peanut). However, I'd seriously consider home-made marzipan cake a close tie. Little basket of honey-cakes sounds good too.

Winter without snow is not winter. I don't envy Australians, can't stand the rains & that drip-drop sound.
Yes, Africa is THE hottest, but Australia is definitely "one of", like I said. Would you like to get black in Africa or rather leave alone your marble skin?
On topic, maybe bgas was right saying the OP moved up in the world. Scrooge McDuck of the Smiley Board - that kinda thing.

After 5 years here I had no idea you could change the skin of the board. It looks so much better red
Too boring. Lemme offer you sth. better: open your account, choose an option "Look and Layout Preferences", click "Change" on "Current Theme" & pick whatever design you like. I checked everything & still stick to dark gray. Orange (Bricks) would've been good if not for the white color domination. All's orange - now we're talking. Took me a year to figure out what "Preview" is for, then started to use it, it's very convenient for those who want to make sure the picture is shown, all the quotes are right & just to check every tool above the reply box for self-education.

I love your Cat drawings!!I want to be a Cat too. A happy fat cat like the Croz. The Rei Cat looks like the Manticore lion/tiger thingy, don't know what he's bitching about. Pink is just another color in the paint box. I love the colors you used on Jess' Cat, as yellow-green is my favorite color. And the orange goes well with that. Hal's is great too. Really Good Job Marianne! I enjoy your sense of humor & actually, you made me like the Rei cat even more, I didn't even think about the manticore when drawing him, he does indeed resemble that mythical animal, now you said it. Relatedly, I know who I'm going to draw as the best cat.

It's all subjective, but I like the MIC live version over any other. It has the blues arrangement of the In Concert version (which I prefer over the pop version, which is still great in it's own right), and I simply much prefer Dennis's vocals on this over Al's.
Gotcha, but you still shouldn't call it " definitive", that's what I had issue with. It's a fact that Al's version skyrocketed the charts & it's the song that people identify him with, his "curse" if you will. Having differing taste is fine, but give the guy credit where it's due, without blindly going for Dennis.
