I will really appreciate it if you stayed on topic and began sharing your stories - both new posters and old fans who recently attended BW show and maybe had a chance to go backstage and talk/sign an album. I bumped this thread in hopes to read new stories.

Mr. Mott, did you ever meet Brian? Share your encounter.

Huh? If that's the reason why they think it's funny then literally ANYthing is funny. OK, what about "fum"...sorry, "FUM"?
4079  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Forever is about murder on: April 23, 2016, 06:40:05 AM
So nobody knows what they laugh at? I'm sure I asked simple question. I am not native speaker maybe it's the u.s. thing? I want to know what it means.

Thanks! It's too late now but I know what I'm going to buy tomorrow. 3D

That's some story in the OP. I will say, tho, that it seems very easy to get to Brian, you just lie to security guy "Yes, he waits us" and you're in. I mean it's very nice they got to meet him but still. I don't believe there are many artists who  invite their fans to the house. or let them be invited. Anyway, good topic, if somebody has story to share - post them.

Beach music band Catalinas - Summertime's callin' me.
The Young Rascals - Groovin'. For some reason, I used to think it's sung by a black singer.
4083  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: The What Are You Reading? Thread on: April 23, 2016, 03:56:09 AM
Had plans to revisit Neil Gaiman's "Coraline". I like it as I do animated film, tho at 1st I was slightly disappointed that the characters didn't look as I imagined them. Then again, the visuals are bound to be diff. People read the same book and picture the events, people in thousand ways. One of those could align with the screen adaptation. Mine usually don't.

Well that's certainly a *very* special day. How could I forget it?..

RR, do you know this one, also from way back?

Thanks, this is new to me. I checked several other songs and they're very nice.
4086  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: So what did we all do today? on: April 22, 2016, 11:35:06 PM
Well, it's the 20th day of the 4th month.
Is it special day? I am not sure what's about it.

These look pretty typical (and pretty mouthwateringly scrumptious):

All the way from Amsterdamee!
Actually you said "croissants" but I was meaning to ask about chocolate later. Fantastic collection!

2NOLA BB Fan: well you're lucky then. Could be worse.

And I wonder what's so remotely cool or funny about that phrase. Once in a while smb. brings it up and I don't for the life of me get it. If you ask me, it reads like speech coming from dumb high school kid. Not to mention there's no word mourdorous. Can you explain it? Oh, and the rest of the post is booooorrrring.
4089  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Lifetime ban on AGD on: April 21, 2016, 11:04:31 AM
I agree with guitarfool (Post No. 269) And Mr. Dempsey, instead of leaving you could improve this place by posting what you know. Seems like Mr. Doe is mother who left the house and everybody is kids who can't take responsibility on their shoulders. C'mon, folks.

But you can read the locked threads.
4091  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carol Kaye interview for AGD on: April 21, 2016, 01:44:49 AM
She has to be bi-polar or something. She seems to have terrible mood swings. Not to mention bad luck. Her first husband and fiance died in the same week? I guess that'd make me a bit bitter towards the world.
one of her daughters too. Have to admit, I am biased toward female guitarists, so I like Carol. It's very difficult instrument.
4092  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Bruce Johnston Reimagines Gershwin on: April 21, 2016, 01:11:52 AM
I like Bruce's ante-BBs stuff. He did rather good version of "Green onions" as well.
4093  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Lifetime ban on AGD on: April 20, 2016, 09:55:42 AM
2drbeachboy: I usually agree with you but not in this case. Secretly telling bad stuff about someone while being all nice in public is cowardly imo.
4094  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: So what did we all do today? on: April 19, 2016, 05:50:07 AM
forgot to ask you, john - you mentioned devouring chocolate - what are the famous Dutch chocolates/ candy? maybe wiki link?
4095  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: So what did we all do today? on: April 19, 2016, 05:21:37 AM
2john k: thanks for the wiki link. Looks good. Though tbh, I don't know what either bacon or ginger tastes like. But I like meat so I think it'll be right up my alley.

2NOLA BB Fan: we call summer houses "dacha". Not sure why the hostess laughed, it's a common word. They aren't supposed to have inside plumbing; people take manure in special cabin outside and wash hands under water dispenser. Cook on an iron stove and it serves like heating - you toss the wood inside and light it. Bathe in a barrel. That said, the rich can afford modern conveniences in their dachas. While there is special pancake holiday Shrovetide, they can be made anytime. We never did them in summer though. We ate cowberry, blueberry and mushrooms. sometimes granny would boil black pudding. It's as much special dish as black caviar.

2feelsflow: you will not get to 1000 posts in the Sandbox. It is place for off-topic, the post count stays the same.
4096  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Specific Beach Boys Musical Moment That Is Kicking Your Ass Right Now on: April 18, 2016, 11:36:23 AM
I too like "It's trying to say". I was at the time quite fond of Adult child album but it's been long time since I last listened to it. if I play them now, mentally, my favorite still is "Life is for the living" & "Still I dream of it" is still nothing special for me.
4097  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Lifetime ban on AGD on: April 18, 2016, 10:34:58 AM
Point taken though it's tough to tell from "wow"; it can mean different things. From the context I thought it was disapproving of his ban.
4098  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Lifetime ban on AGD on: April 18, 2016, 10:16:16 AM
You do realize that rules are for everyone, right? BBs historian or not. Let me tell you sth. - I've got the same message about Melinda RIGHT after I said positive nice things about her in some thread. Among other things, he said she might marry Brian for money. Is that OK? Of course, I didn't believe it and stood behind my words. And - lo and behold - I was right! Ray Lawlor came into picture and confirmed in detailed post that she's good and every bashing towards her was unfair. Mr. Doe had to admit his being wrong in public but it turns out he continued spreading desinformation after that? pm'ing newbies and stuff. Do you approve it? Add to it calling people names and being rude, labeling such as beep*weasels, *beep*wits etc. I thought an author should be above it, be objective and not poke his nose and mind his business about what little arguments, even non-BBs arguments posters delve into. Just correct the dates and stuff, sth. like that.

Sunshine all day over here. Went to a pancake restaurant in the woods with the entire family----a birthday tradition----where one of my presents was...Love and Mercy! I can hold my head up high from now on.  Cool Guy
Pancake restaurant? Cool! We have a holiday annually that lasts 7 days during which people cook pancakes & serve it in the streets for free. I'm a big fan. What kind of pancake you ate - with jam or meat fillings? or maybe sour milk? Any is yummy! 3D
Best wishes & Happy birthday!

Peppermint Trolley Company - Trust. It's interesting that the 1st chorus is played & the 2nd chorus is sung & played. I like the harpsichord intro/riff.

Besides, guitarfool mentioned in old thread Whistling Jack Smith "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman"; it made me curious, go to youtube & love it! I'm a big fan of whistling in songs! 3D
