101  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the \ on: January 17, 2020, 05:57:15 PM
Today (17 January) is Chris Montez's birthday.
He was wondering which direction to go, musically . Herb Alpert suggested that he go the "soft pop" route. Thus came some hits including The More I See You.
Haha really? Wow, looks like I miraculously listened to his song today at his cakeday. Ha, who knew. So...won't you tell you like it (TMISY) or not, Nola? Am curious about it.
102  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: January 17, 2020, 02:36:34 PM
It made me curious what people think about specific CM song I namechecked, not about which CM song *you* like or if you like him *generally*. I like to mention titles & see if people recognize it & if yes what they think about it. I like to compare views about *single* song. Kinda like picking album to discuss, just instead of album, it's song.

To JK - will you please quit mentioning EH here at Smiley? Let's not bring up different boards. You read EH, things I post there etc. That's fine & dandy. But I've zero idea why you must mention it here. Please don't. Thanks.

& talk about misunderstanding *completely* the point I made, instead I'm painted in the worst possible light ("playing victim". Leni aired similar grievances, somehow she never been told "stop playing victim"...different standards perhaps...). It simply is beyond comprehension why when I post songs or albums, people *rarely* - & I mean *rarely* - reply to it, join discussion etc. I wish people quit paying attention who reply is written by & focused instead *what's* written. I like to talk with people & as everybody, I like attention, it's very nice when smb. cares what you say, especially nice & cool when people chime in to discuss things with ME! It's ultimate coolness, makes me think I'm interesting conversationalist. It brings enthusiasm. I believe it's totally fine thing to be frustrated when nobody replies to things you say (face it, many of you get frustrated about same thing too). I know perfectly what precisely I talk about. /mini-rant
If smb.'s going to reply to this with the kinda patronizing belittling reply jk did - save it.

Ha. I must be extremely terrible poster in the Internet that nobody even cares about things I say. Zero wonder enthusiasm to write anything dwindled. Welp. This next song is very beautiful & relaxing - it's Chris Montez "The More I See You" *youtube link*.

Austrian band Joy "Magic Eyes" (youtube is everybody's friend). Its smash (including in USSR 80s youth) TBT (ditto "Valerie")  is dullfest. I like positivity in "...Eyes", despite the typically flamboyant to the 1000th degree 80s arrangement.

As I understand it, Brian and Marilyn were only in the house for about 2.5 years, but it's the site of Brian's peak creativity... where all of the Pet Sounds/Good Vibrations/Smile songs were written.  For that reason, it should be really ought to be afforded historical-landmark status.   Seriously.    Like Mozart's homes in Salzburg.  I'm not kidding.
Yes, you ain't kidding, I believe it as I shall agree. Brilliant idea which could easily get to fruition.

You coulda just edited it instead of bringing up again & again.

The gutenberg link is the Internet mistake. Empty link.
Soviet 1979 film translates "Three Men In Boat (Discounting The Dog)".
6000 pages per 2$ - wow, cool deal.

I'll also drop out of the book discussion so that RR can chime in again. (I had no idea that the K stood for Klapka!)
I 200% knew it since school. We read Jerome Klapka Jerome in 8th grade. His entire full name been written in literature book. It didn't say Jerome K. Jerome, as foolishly stated in the Internet. Thus, I'd written in Sandbox thread the full name. Glad to see Nola repeated the pattern next.

Re: Cats, I stated in *December* that they don't accept donations towards Lugansk pets case, the date is specific: to donate till *mid-December*. Thus, shared the news back then that they now been buying items, diapers, medicine, everything that poor pets need & when they buy everything listed in "1st aid list", they send it by car to Lugansk. Looks like you didn't read update about it.

Nice book, "...Pilgrimage". Would like to read his famous "3 Men In Boat Without Dog" or whichever's the title (I know it's "Three..." but I like adhering to my individual style writing digits as digits. Thus, "3..."). I hear it's humorous & adventurous = good blend.

A friend had recommended a book as a "pick me up, " so I'm reading it . It's A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen. Bowen, a street performer in the UK, befriended Bob. And as usually the case, adopted stray cats are the best. Bowen has written later books about Bob.
Did mention it b4, ditto film adaptation in Film Thread. Looks like you didn't catch it. Well? New book by good writer - Jerome Klapka Jerome "Diary Of Pilgrimage". To start, travel book = jolly good, interesting. Next, few chapters reading but can tell it's good choice.

Pic which displays best what cats mean to human beings. People say casually "It's just pet". INACCURATE. Cat is family. Dawn, the lady who hugs Rocky, is beautiful inside & out. Amazing cat parent & well, she's pretty as picture too. Look at Rocky - he's blessed to be covered in blankie & be supported by his humama (he is special needs cat):

118  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: What are you watching now?/Favourite Movie of the Moment on: January 01, 2020, 06:14:00 AM
It will interest poster Gettin Hungry: since you like Peter Sellers, yesterday seen 1970s film ''Alice In Wonderland'', Peter plays Mad Hatter. It's the best AIW, with classic Disney cartoon & the b&w 1933 film. Check out it.

Diff. news - seen ''Dragonwyck'' (1946) ft. Gene Tierney, young Vincent Price, young Jessica Tandy, Walter ''distinct speaking voice'' Huston, sweet Spring Biington. Frankly, disappointed at young Vincent, he'll get better in classic cult horrors. Gene's very talented actress but, like everybody who's too beautiful, rarely did anybody in Hollywood see it. It's dark film but wouldn't designate it ''horror''. 6/10.

Ta. BTW, given ''it was driving'' you ''crazy'', you too glad that the song been ID'ed, Nola. Then it's been found for *you* too. Tongue

Can't you tell friends, sisters about the link with song? Maybe they know what song it's? I must get the title, to download it for free.
& check Josephine's blog. It's very interesting.
122  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Cats on: December 28, 2019, 08:07:53 PM
Hm. If you can't tell which song it's, nobody will.
It's been general information regarding World Together charity, i.e. dollars you give away towards julia Paypal address will be used to different pet-in-peril cases. It's reliable.
Recently read blog about interesting cat Josephine who is diagnosed with FHS. In it you can see which issues Josephine & human deal with. She's difficult cat, they visit behaviorist due to FHS/OCD & trim nails due to Josephine being polidactyl. Many advised the lady who adopted Josephine she should bring back her to euthanize but, she doesn't give up when there's times when Josephine behaves usual good-natured cat, even lets lady to pet her without biting. There's blog post "Week" in which lady states with glee there's been single whole week when Josephine didn't try attacks, didn't gaze crazily about to attack. It's rare when she's nice, yet she can be really nice thus human didn't get to the point to give the cat back. Really happy about it, each cat must get chance to live, esp. since Josephine technically healthy & young (zero issues with vitals, she can walk legs, neck flexible, good vision).
Check blog, read few back posts to get picture about Josephine's behaviors, it's educational & helpful blog: https://josephinethequirkycat.com
(NB: looking at main Josephine pic, you wouldn't tell she's difficult to deal with cat - beautiful sweet-looking, with unique green hue eyes (kiwi/lime))

Song puzzle - classical (aria? arietta?)/ hip-hop mash-up. Which title is song the lady sings in beginning (& which language?)? It's familiar.

The World Together charity, case: "Lugansk cats/dogs" doesn't accept donations. Each supply is bought, it's being sent now. If smb. sends belatedly donations to shared julia Paypal email, it'll be going towards different "severely ill pet, with multiple diagnoses" case to help to pay medical bills (which in Moscovite veterinarian establishments is, to put this mildly, expensive. It's generally very expensive city).
I speak to you, Nola, & each & everybody who is sending donations belatedly, in past few days. I.e. the money you send will be still useful. The Paypal address is single address used in World Together payments (esp. international, money given by the other countries' citizens, like U.S. People living in Russia pay thru SMS &  various charity bank accounts depending who moderates/ coordinates/ courier in each case).

Wish Everybody Jolly Christmas Eve (it ain't Christmas, 25th, yet in U.S. & elsewhere save here)! Enjoy The Day Before Christmas, eat turkey today, then next day at Christmas you will eat the remaining food in fridge. 3D
Get clad in Christmas colors!

2 Nola - I shall agree that Russians cook up best "Nutcracker". I played American redos - meh.

2 Sbonilla - Interesting info. Can't stand Kim but thanks to tell the business sides in music industry. It fascinates, generally.
