The intermission they've put back in totally boggles my mind. It's not even close to being a 50/50 Set 1 vs. Set 2 balance. It worries me a bit that they feel the need for an intermission that only leaves 8 songs...makes me think it's needed for health concerns or something similar.
"This Whole World" is hands down my favorite Beach Boys song, but I kind of don't want to hear it. They surprised me with it on C50 when I saw them and Brian did a really great job singing it. I just don't need to hear someone else sing it, while Brian sits there...not singing it. I dunno.
Glad to see "Girl Don't Tell Me" and "She Knows Me..." back in there, as well as "Marcella"!

Mike and Bruce are coming to Baltimore just three days before my 21st birthday! They'll be at The Lyric Opera House downtown, a twenty-minute (TOPS!) drive for me! My girlfriend and I got second row tix in the presale today, general sale tomorrow...looking forward to seeing a theatre show in the winter...hoping that means a deeper setlist! Would love to meet Mike and Bruce with my GF as she's never met them and with my birthday nearby and all! Super cool, very nice venue definitely gonna go. The next night they play in Hagerstown, Md at another theater. Probably gonna go to that too because back to back theater shows are bound to produce some rare deep cuts I haven't heard live I can't do both nights...but luckily I can make the 17th work....my birthday is the 20th...haven't found anything on that date yet!

Heading out to the Brian benifit show tonight in Virginia, went for the VIP $500 package, always wanted to do it figured now was a good time since the money goes to charity. Not sure what to expect but I'm definitely excited. Hope Darian is back and we get This Whole World, at least during sound check. Paul Dano is supposed to be there maybe he'll sing You Still Believe In Me again. Never heard that song and it would be a treat to hear it. I'll post a report and review as soon as I can very excited and luck to be seeing my third Brian gig this year!
Enjoy! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Has anyone seen Mike & Bruce dates for 2016? Nothing on the official site, but tickets are on sale via ticketmaster for the following dates:
1/27 - Napa, CA 2/13 - Collingsword, NJ 2/27 - Hollywood, FL 3/1 - Daytona Beach, FL
Some others in CA in January...some others in Jersey in February...and *you guess it* some others in Florida in February/March.

Definitely worthy of the criticism. The video is labeled "Still Tourin'" and is based largely on clips from a lineup and tour that was far greater in quality of music and quantity of seats per venue than what is actually on the road "still tourin'" right now. Despicable.
So... the guy who put it together is despicable ? Bit harsh, isn't it ? Oh, wait...you're thinking this is official BRI product. How amusing. It was the adjective that came to me! It's certainly my own fault for not further checking the sources, but that didn't seem necessary as it was so incredibly convincing. Not to mention, Mike plugging it on FB.....

To KDS---- I have not seen the Dennis film of Do You Wanna Dance...but can assure you it is highly unlikely to be from Ready, Steady, Go. They never performed it on RSG. Most likely clip is from Shindig or Hullabaloo
YES!! You're right it's Shindig. Not sure why I thought RSG. Thanks. I wish Mike and Bruce would come near my neck of the woods in December. I know in December, they typically perform a big chunk of the Beach Boys Christmas Album. That's the first BB album I ever owned, and I was into that looooong before I really embraced The Beach Boys. So, it would be cool to hear that stuff live. Totally agree. No way we'll get them this year either. They've got quite a lot of dates for Jan/Feb/Mar already...and quite ea few in Jersey in February. Maybe they'll drift our way then?

One other thing that was new to me. After they did God Only Knows, synced with the audio/video of Carl singing lead, I was waiting for them to do Forever. Instead, they did Do You Wanna Dance, with a Dennis lead and some black and white video of him singing. I also forgot to mention that some guy came onstage in the second half who Mike said was named Paul. I didn't catch his last name, but Paul sang the lead on Help Me Rhonda for some reason. After that, he hung around onstage for the remainder of the show, sometimes playing tambourine, sometimes taking over the keyboard duties, including playing a not-so-great organ solo on—I think—Surfin' USA. Earlier, Mike had mentioned that the producer of the Pisces Brothers track was in the audience. Does anyone know if that song was produced by someone named Paul? Otherwise, I have no idea who this guy was or why he got to sing lead on Rhonda.
That's bizarre...ya got me. I've read of them doing "Do You Wanna Dance" but have yet to witness it. I don't think it's very regular. Actually, I think Do You Wanna Dance with the Ready Steady Go Dennis footage has been the regular Dennis tribute the last two years. I know it's been used, but it's been far less regular than "God Only Knows" for Carl. Both concerts I attended this summer and last summer had Carl's tribute but not Dennis's. The year before ('13) I saw M&B three times...the first was in July and Bruce was still singing "God Only Knows". I heard them soundchecking "Forever" and Scott Totten told me they were working up the tributes used on C50. The other two concerts I attended that year were back to back in September and featured Carl on "God Only Knows" but no mention of Dennis whatsoever.

BW with Al, Blondie, Billy H, and others in his band is certainly a more authentic BB experience these days.
I went to go see Mike, Bruce, and David last year, and while I really enjoyed it, I gotta say, I agree with you. I won't get to see this show until November however, I can compare what I saw on the Beck tour in '13 with what I saw this summer in Lancaster (Mike, Bruce, and David) and I think it depends on what you're looking for when defining an "authentic" experience. If the number of originals on stage is all it takes, then there's a lot of fluctuation as to who is more "authentic" from year to year. But I'd have to say that if you're looking for a rocking evening of nostalgia and ALL the hits, The Beach Boys touring band is the way to go. However, for the vast majority of us here, I think we get something much greater out of seeing and hearing Brian Wilson with his immense band. Personally, I think there's a lot of missed potential in that band right now. They focus on too many hits, but not really enough to call it a greatest hits gig. I wish they would just go for the deep stuff and offer a second experience to the Beach Boys live scene, instead of attempting to offer an alternative.

They should drop a lot of the Mike Love lead vocal tracks, since Al & Brian have other songs that are good. Mike sings Mikes leads in concert, yet Brian sings Mikes too...I can hear the original voice with The Beach Boys. I want to hear Brian sing Brians leads!
I feel the same way with a couple of exceptions, Al does an amazing job on the car songs I must say. The other Mike leads especially Do It Again, Brian just doesn't seem to have it, I love him and I'm sorry but that's how I feel haha. Even Funx3 Cal Girls and Surfin' USA could go or have Al sing them but I don't think either one of those things will ever happen. Agreed with both for the most part. Brian's concerts don't need any of the songs in the encore (except Help Me Rhonda, if he has Al!) or the car songs, or Do it Again.....California Girls is the only one I think fits in nicely and Brian delivers it at a consistently great level, plus the band blows it away. Hopefully the second set grows as the tour does too.

Al's appearance at Strawberry Fields today to film him with the crowd singing "Imagine" as part of the Yoko-approved, UN-sponsored peace effort was nothing short of a hero's welcome.
After two takes, one of the thousand guitarists at the mosaic launched into "Little Deuce Coupe" and although he tried hard, Al couldn't resist and soon singing lead. Another guy handed him a guitar and Al started "Wake The World" -- then declared it was "too esoteric" and dove into into "Help Me, Rhonda." Hearing all of Strawberry Fields (hundreds of people) singing a Brian Wilson tune on Lennon's 75th birthday was a total mind f***.
Then (because he wanted to end on a serious note) -- for the first time ever -- Al Jardine, standing on the "Imagine" mosaic sang an acoustic rendition of "God Only Knows."
MAJOR.
Start looking for it on YouTube, because EVERYONE was filming it.
Wish I could have been there...incredibly tasteful, and full of nothing but honor. The pictures on Al's Facebook say it all.

I also hadn't thought about it, it may not be particularly likely, but I'm curious if Brian might sing a Lennon-related song of some sort tonight. Al was involved in the deal in New York yesterday. I don't know how much I need to see Brian sing a Lennon song, but someone has to un-do the 1983 BB tour performances of "Imagine." I doubt he'll sing any of Lennon's material, but mentioning the birthday wouldn't be too much of a surprise...although if I could pick a Lennon solo numbe for this band to do.....I'd go with "Cold Turkey". I can hear Blondie ripping on it already!

this might sound a bit harsh, but Brian really seems to push the Paul McCartney thing way more than Paul does whenever the two end up in the same place...
Because as we know, fans like you are more qualified to cast doubt on this kind of thing than the actual musicians involved, who share a friendship, are to mention it in conversations. Makes perfect sense. Or maybe you know more about Brian and Paul's personal interactions than anyone else, if so please fill us in. Just making a social observation. Never claimed to be right, but thanks for the usual snarky response...right on schedule.

Maybe it's just me as a Beatles fan seeing this, but why does it seem the Beach Boys are always trying to make-up 60's friendships with the Beatles that never really happened to the degree they describe? Mike & George Harrison lately...now Al & John Lennon and this might sound a bit harsh, but Brian really seems to push the Paul McCartney thing way more than Paul does whenever the two end up in the same place...and jamming with the boys on the 4th of July meant so much to Ringo that he got drunk and has said multiple times he has no recollection whatsoever of the entire day......
