If they were truly selling the show to new markets, I would buy this line of thinking but frankly...they aren't. On the financial side of things, this is no different than how Mike and Bruce operate. Albeit, these Pet Sounds shows are vastly more expressive, artistic, and frankly...more musical. It's less of a party, and more of a celebration.
Regardless, let's celebrate some of the OTHER musical successes in Brian's career.....
I'm really not interested in seeing this show a third time in 2018, I know I'm in the minority. But Brian was perfection at The Strathmore in 2016 and I'd rather remember that, because he certainly was NOT in Baltimore just a month prior. In the same breath, I'm not interested in seeing Mike and Bruce. I had a fantastic front row seat this summer...had a great interaction with Mike singing his autobiography and chatting with many band members, but Bruce Johnston treated me like sh*t. I'm not putting more money in his pocket (from tickets at least).
On the otherhand, I am VERY excited for Al Jardine's storyteller outing...I REALLY hope this becomes a larger scale run than the current two venues.

Al was a delight both times I met him. The first on the C50 VIP experience, and the second was after Brian's show at Montgomery College in 2015. He gladly signed my photo so long as I would walk to the bus with him and not stop to allow a crowd to form...which was already happening anyway with the 20 people or so that were waiting.

So with my day off, I've taken a little time to listen to this thing on YouTube...needless to say, I won't be spending money on it.
Since there is so much bad to be said, I'll focus on the good...
Getcha Back actually sounds pretty great. I've liked what they do with this live and that's pretty much what this is. The new lyrics are nice and honestly a little more interesting than the original.
Too Cruel isn't a bad tune. This would go over well in the live show.
Cool Head, Warm Heart is a highlight...since nothing has changed to it.
If Mike's name weren't Mike Love, Unleash The Love wouldn't be so bad.
As for the remakes....Warmth of the Sun with Aambha is nice (she did a great job on it with the NSO live). And WILD HONEY! I'd actually like to own this track. I may just download this track beacuse John Cowsill, that's why.

My problem is not with these songs appearing in the touring setlist. BUT I have a serious problem with THE BEACH BOYS serving as the promotional band at a listening party for a new MIKE LOVE record. Solo and side-project tracks have popped up in The Beach Boys' setlist all the way back to the 70's...usually the tunes fit right in. My problem is that an event that is solely to promote MIKE LOVE's release, was led by The Beach Boys. That has never happened before and should never happen....even if Bruce stays home and the rest of the band comes and he calls it Mike Love and Band, that is FINE. But not a "The Beach Boys" event solely for promotion of this album.
I wish I could've heard "Aren't You Glad" in Hagerstown last week, but I don't regret not going. This bullshit would've killed it AGAIN for me.

Just in case you haven't seen it and are interested, our member The Real Barnyard just posted the following in the Pro-Shot-Concert-List thread. Mike & Bruce two days ago, professionally filmed. And they play "Unleash the love" near the end. Maybe more, but I haven't watched it Amazing sound and performance? It's a kick ass band, that's about the only nice thing I have to say. Weak vocals from Mike, "Unleash The Love" is embarrassing, and Bruce looks bad. Did it ever come out as to why he was off the road for awhile? It looks like he's aged ten years since he bitched me out in August.

Let the man rest.
I hope he does. I don't know what markets they would have left to do this in unless it was truly just one concert in LA or NYC that could be filmed. I'd be down with that. But he doesn't need anymore stress on the road this year. Considering Christmas Tours are usually announced during the summer months, I'd be pretty surprised if a 2017 Christmas Tour materializes. But, if it's on the table for 2018, I'm there. On re-reading the email from the agent, it is for November-December of 2018, not 2017. Sorry for my over exuberance. Thank for clarifying. That's still great news!!! I hope it materializes. However, that leads me to believe there would not be many other performances in 2018, if they are still concerned about which markets Pet Sounds hit. That seems like a silly thing to be concerned with anyway, considering that at least 50% of this show will be new material since Pet Sounds will be dropped and the Christmas album will be added in.

I would avoid Bruce at all costs regardless of sex. He's a loose canon and has no problem chewing out hardcore fans for no legitimate reason.
What pray tell, is a "loose canon"? Is that something like the BBs' post-Holland discography or BW's solo discography? Forgive my missing "n"...thanks for coming to the rescue to make a meaningless correction on something everyone around here knows damn well to be true. I'm also failing to find the humor in your statement regarding the discography as both the BB's post-Holland as well as BW's solo works have had deserving success as well as deserving flops and everywhere in between.

Hmm...not necessarily a recording console. That could be at one of their houses for all we know...
Actually you can see faders to next to Brian's left arm. So yeah, in the studio. By the way, am I losing it or doesn't anybody else remember something about how Brian and Mark were working on some kinda material for The Beach Boys in like 2012 or so? Oh wow! What a dumbass am I. So my memory was right after all, my eyes just failed me!

I think you'd more likely see Nelson Bragg join Mike's band than Bruce joining Brian's. For numerous reasons.
Has Bruce's role in the late 90's ever been explored or explained? Was it ever a thought for him to NOT continue with Mike? Obviously it behooves Mike to have him (and at the time David) to up the "official member" tally, but I can't picture Bruce doing anything else in the genre, like attempting to have his own outfit like Alan. If he were to hang it up then, I think he'd have gone in a totally different direction again...maybe classical composition, modern record production (again), or just simply surfing. What a strange, strange asshole he is.

The Imagination DVD actually gives a decent idea of the approach Joe presumably had in mind. Footage from the 1998 St. Charles show features a very AC approach -- along with Bruce and Christopher Cross auditioning for the Jeff Foslett role ...
I have no idea what you're talking about (not doubting it, just confused)...are you referring to Bruce as in Bruce Johnston? As in, Bruce Johnston showed interest in being with Brian Wilson over Mike Love?
