It's definitely 'modal' as they say.
The opening chord of Caroline, No is a pretty good root for the key of the song. But I've seen it written as Em7 / G and G6 which are both obviously the same chord. As always with Brian, it's all about the bass notes.

Today's music, when it's about dance grooves, R&B type music like Beyonce etc, it's mostly in minor.
Believe it or not, but Caroline, No is the first minor key song Brian put on record. Here Today, Good Vibrations and Wind Chimes start also in minor key. Of all songs, it's only 1% minor key?
Caroline, No isn't in a minor key though.

Anybody who complains about the setlist is a fool.
I think that whenever I go to a concert, I have the right to have an opinion about the setlist, don't I? Of course you do, but it makes more sense to talk about what you did hear rather than speculate on what you didn't. Everyone onstage was obviously having a ball and, aside from Kokomo, every song in the set was fantastic. I've stayed clear of watching crappy youtube clips so I can experience this reunion myself. The performances and the harmonies were much better than I could have dreamed of. My standouts were Do It Again, You're So Good To Me, Don't Back Down, Heroes and Villains (wow!!!) and Rock and Roll Music (a great great version). Brian's vocals sounded really good too. I think it was a brilliant festival all round.

I don't think RangeRoverA1 is polluting the board at all. Let's remember that the Beach Boys love all girls and wish they all could be...well, you know the rest! If RR's avatar is actually her own picture, then we should all be a lot nicer!! And if it's not--RR: "Girl Don't Tell Me".... Also, please keep this kind of stuff out of here, it's just creepy. I've noticed that whenever we have a girl posting here, people can't control themselves and things get carried away to the point of melodrama. I know, it's novel that there's a girl posting here, super awesome, but if want to flirt, take it to private messages or something. I'm glad somebody pointed this out. I agree, very creepy.

The change over time at a festival like this won't be more than 30 mins so that's at least a 1hr 45 minute set, which I'm more than happy with. Austrailian Pink Floyd are more than just a cover band though, they're probably the most famous cover band in the world. Their shows are pretty spectacular. It's gonna be a weird way to come off a BB high!

Main act of the night (set time 21.30 - 23.45) and followed by the Austrailian Pink Floyd (!?!). Tickets at €35. Anyone else going? You'll see me at the front! PS on the site-map TOOG means Bar

I would love an album helmed by a Rick Rubin type where the guys write and sing uninhibited about their real lives and not the Beach BOys fantasy. An album made without thinking of commercial interests (possibly wishful thinking).
TWGMTR is as close as we will get to a finale of the Beach Boys dream. I would happily take a raw and spontaneous acoustic appendix to it. Love You meets Friends.
I hope the touring stops as planned, I personally don't want Brian to feel obliged to tour after this year.
Possibly wishful thinking? Try having no conception of reality. BW works with people he likes and is comfortable with. His decision. And he's the one who wants to keep touring with the band through next summer. Sure, but reality went out the window when the BBs got back together for a world tour and a new album in 2012.

Anyone in UK / Ireland who hasn't bought tickets yet, consider this: I just bought a ticket for the BB day at the Lokerse festival in Belgium on 7 August for......€35. Yes Thirty-Five Euro. Return flights to Brussels from Dublin £103. No camping but apparently anyone can 'sleep over' in the night bar (according to the website). They are head-lining that day (not on last but allocated the longest slot 21.30 - 23.45). Austrailian Pink Floyd are playing too (!!!) It is an outdoor festival so you can STAND as close as you can get to the stage. They have lots of beer and horse meat. http://www.lokersefeesten.be/en/€35 for a ticket. I am shitting myself with excitment.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Pacific Coast Highway Overrated ?

'Pacific Coast Highway' sounds like Brian channelling Dennis. I love it.
Listen to how the piano comes in as the 'oohs' resolve. Then put on 'Cuddle Up' and listen to instrumental string section at the start of the last verse.
To me these songs could be musical companions.
PCH does more in 1:47 than most songs do in twice that.
It's a beautiful song, certainly not over-rated.
