1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Petition to Get Still Cruisin and Summer In Paradise Reissued! on: August 25, 2022, 04:23:54 AM
If you're not looking for Smile II, have an open mind and just want to have a fun listen, Looking Back With Love can be just that. I'd buy it just for Paradise Found, the duet with Joanie Sommers. I wasn't a George Michael fan, but I thought Listen Without Prejudice was a great title. BTW, I thought Brian's My Solution was great. You gotta love stuff for what it is and not worry that someone will think you're not cool. I got over that mentality years ago.

Looking Back With Love is still not available on CD. Also, Problem Child. I'd buy those.

Thanks, I'll check it out. There are some great musicians on those records.

Does anyone know what musicians Quincey Jones used in his 1960's pop productions, such as Lesley Gore? Those guys were really good.

In the latest ESQ, there is mention of an attempted "takeover by bad people" of The Beach Boys in the early 80's. Anybody know anything about that?

When I read that in ESQ I thought Landy

Exactly what I thought...

I've got a promo copy of "The Fastest Gun Alive." That was a great movie with Roy Orbison.

Who is Bob & Bobby? Twelve o Four and Baby What You Want Me To Do? Great record.

Yes, I have wishful thinking. As for The Honeys, it's so unfortunate that they never put out more music with Brian. I know it was circumstances, but it's still too bad.
10  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What songs did Brian play drums / percussion on? on: October 01, 2021, 09:22:08 AM
I don't think he played drums much, but that's a great question!
11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / 60th Anniversary Tour on: October 01, 2021, 09:07:53 AM
If the Beach Boys have a 60th Anniversary tour, what are the chances of getting The Honeys involved?
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Adam Jardine on: March 16, 2021, 08:31:29 AM
Thanks for the reply. I hope he comes back. One of my all time favorite albums is "Al Jardine Family and Friends Live In Las Vegas." It's pure joy from beginning to end!
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Adam Jardine on: March 15, 2021, 03:30:05 PM
Whatever happened to Adam Jardine? Has he given up music? He was a good singer.
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What if the Wilsons had had a neighbor that played drums in 1961? on: February 24, 2021, 08:11:41 AM
Actually, I don't think Dennis would have been in the group either. It was just a crazy "what if" deal. Recently read "Becoming The Beach Boys" and all that early stuff was on my mind. One thing's for sure, Mike and Dennis up front  would have made The Kinks look like rookies.
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / What if the Wilsons had had a neighbor that played drums in 1961? on: February 23, 2021, 03:54:31 PM
They get him and Marks as the neighbor guys. This time when Audrey forces Dennis in, it would be as a singer. He would be freed up from drumming and could sing lead and harmony as he had done since the first album (in the studio.) The live harmony would be huge with an extra voice on each song. Sorta on a different note, isn't it strange that on most of The Beach Boys albums, Dennis doesn't drum a whole lot, but he sings lead and harmony on every album. Then on stage, he mostly drummed and didn't sing a whole lot. How I miss Dennis Wilson!!!!!

Guilty pleasure might not be a bad way to describe it. I just want it on CD before my tape messes up.
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Problem Child on CD on: February 05, 2021, 02:23:47 PM
I've still got my cassette version of "Problem Child" but cannot find it on CD to save my life. Does anyone know where this song is available on CD? BTW, I saw the cassette version on Ebay for 50 bucks.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: How many hours of film would it take to tell the entire Beach Boys story? on: December 31, 2020, 01:35:52 PM
It may not happen (because of Covid), but if the boys do a 50th year "reunion" tour, they could use footage of them playing live to end the movie. Freeze frame them at the right moment (while playing the right song) and then do the voiceover such as "The Beach Boys continue to play concerts, Brian Wilson is still releasing albums, etc. Just a thought, we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. BTW, did I accidentally steal this from another BB movie?

Those are some great quotes. Jack's statement is the brutal truth. The BB's are huge still today despite it all but just think how big they would be if they hadn't blown it so many times.

Thanks for the reply. We'll just have to wait and see what else comes out. BTW, I noticed your Lester Bangs quote. Creem magazine was the best rock mag there ever was and it was always HILARIOUS! LB was the man for sure.
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / How many hours of film would it take to tell the entire Beach Boys story? on: December 29, 2020, 04:10:55 PM
There's been several movies made, but time constraints works against them every time. I've read a ton of music biographies, but nothing touches the BB story. As for book form, it would have to be a four or five volume set. So many stories and so many details.

12. Lonely Days - Alternate Version (Sunshine Tomorrow)
13. Our New Home (Wake the World)
14. Walk on By (I Can Hear Music)

To krabklaw; I think Meant For You was intended as an invocation of sorts...

That's the beauty of CD's and computers. You can make your favorite album, too. "Tis all good. Smiley
