Sweet moment when Mike and Glen Campbell exchange acknowledgments near the beginning.

The entire Brian Wilson/Jodie Foster SNL episode is available for streaming.
http://www.hulu.com/watch/159671/saturday-night-live-jodie-foster-and-brian-wilson#s-p3-n2-so-i0

Say what you will, I think he sounded awesome on Good Vibrations and Back Home considering some of his other performances at the time.

He does however look awkward in the sketch they put him in, though it is a funny sketch.  It is an overall good episode, better than Saturday Night Live has been recently.

Loop de loop.
2454  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 50th anniversary T-shirts on: February 12, 2012, 11:14:57 AM
I'm not too big on that shirt myself.  I would like to get one of those blue Smile shirts that goes along with one of the combos but it doesn't look like they're offering it unless you get the CDs along with it which I already have.
2455  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Any hope for Wilson/Asher collaborations on the new album? on: February 12, 2012, 07:58:08 AM
If not, it would be nice to hear some properly recorded versions of Everything I Need and This Isn't Love.
2456  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? on: February 11, 2012, 08:18:03 AM
No need for an opening act, the 50th anniversary demands a full evening of Beach Boys music !  Smiley
No need is right!  It would be too painful to wait!

Unless, it was Chicago!  Wink
Only if they brought Peter Cetera with them.
2457  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Who would you like to see open for the Beach Boys on tour? on: February 11, 2012, 06:53:33 AM
They probably won't have an opening act but I love when I can see two concerts on the same bill.

I think The Shins or St. Vincent would be great openers.

I just listened to California Girls and yes, that's it!  Thanks.

2461  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Vocal Snippet that opens the Endless Harmony documentary? on: February 09, 2012, 09:02:52 PM
At the very beginning of Endless Harmony, there's a snippet of the boys singing some "ooh aahs" and it sounds very pretty but I can't figure out what song it comes from.

The only way to save this performance is if it ends with Mike Love getting kicked in the groin.  Otherwise I won't be satisfied.
2464  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Who else is looking forward to the Beach Boys reunion performance this weekend? on: February 08, 2012, 06:17:50 AM
Taylor Mills should be there as well.

This girl made her boyfriend a handmade Brian Wilson doll out of felt.  It's pretty damn adorable.

In that order.
2467  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: So Sad About BB's Career After \ on: February 06, 2012, 11:16:19 PM
While I don't agree that the Beach Boys "lost it" after Smile, I do agree that there was a decline.  The Beatles and Zeppelin were more consistent than the Beach Boys throughout their respective careers.  The Beatles never had one bad album and Zeppelin too until Bonham's death.  I think Friends, Wild Honey, Sunflower, and so on are pretty great albums but I don't think they reach any of the standards set by Pet Sounds or Smile or even the Today! album.  I would certainly argue that the Boys had lost it creatively by 1978.  Pink Floyd lost it after Roger Waters left.

Perfect way to close a Brian Wilson concert.
Which this pretty much is.  Brian is the focus of the tour whether it's promoted that way or not.  It has to be, otherwise I doubt he would go along with it.  After all, it's pretty much the five surviving Beach Boys backed by the Brian Wilson band.  None of those guys like Foskett or the Wondermints would do this without Brian.  And they outnumber the Boys altogether.  And personally, if Brian weren't involved in the tour and it were just Mike, Al, Bruce, and David; I would frankly have no interest in seeing that show.  And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on that.
2469  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: WOTS and ASL must be the concluding songs of the reunioun tour and Barbara Ann u on: February 06, 2012, 09:54:40 PM
It's been posted on the Bloo by a close source that L&M won't feature on the reunion shows, which leads me to believe that no solo material will feature at all.
That's the way Brian's been doing it for years, I doubt he'd want to change that.  I certainly hope he doesn't, I always thought that it's a perfect way to close.

They should close with a post-encore Love and Mercy like Brian usually does.

Others can do it better, but let me give the semi-abridged version
Well you did it better than any of the responses before you so thank you for clearing that up!  Smiley
2472  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: The Beach Boys and Ronald Reagan??? on: February 05, 2012, 09:14:18 PM
BTW Ronald Reagan was the best president in history.
I don't mind people saying he was decent but best in history?  Seriously?  That's just ridiculous.  I can name plenty of Presidents more politically significant than Ronald Reagan.  Lincoln, Roosevelt, Adams, Kennedy, Truman... I can keep going.  Ronald Reagan was a snitch (McCarthy trials anyone?), cut taxes for the rich while raising taxes for the middle class, tripled our debt, funded terrorists, refused to acknowledge the AIDS epidemic... the guy was just as bad as Bush.
2473  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: The Beach Boys and Ronald Reagan??? on: February 05, 2012, 09:02:09 PM
Actually all it does is make it more baffling to me as Reagan had banned the Beach Boys from performing in Washington.
2474  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: The Beach Boys and Ronald Reagan??? on: February 05, 2012, 09:00:30 PM
What's the history of this relationship?  I thought their friendships with John Stamos or the Captain and Tennille were cringeworthy enough but the Reagans???  The Beach Boys as right-wingers just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not judging anyone for their political views but these weren't just views.  It would seem like these guys were completely open about their respect for Reagan (just like the worst of the Republicans) and performed for him multiple times.  How did they get involved with Reagan?  Was it just a publicity stunt?  Can we just blame Mike Love (which is always the easiest way out)?
Its called Google...

Nothing in there answers my question.
