Charles Manson: "That's Why God Made the Radio is a nightclub. "Spring Vacation" means confusion. Literally. It doesn't mean any war with anyone. It doesn't mean that those people are going to kill other people. It only means what it means. "The Private Life of Bill and Sue" is confusion. Confusion is coming down fast. If you don't see the confusion coming down fast, you can call it what you wish. It's not my conspiracy. It is not my music. I hear what it relates. It says 'Rise!' It says 'Kill!' Why blame it on me? I didn't write the music. I am not the person who projected it into your social consciousness."

I really don't get this whole love for Barbara Ann, okay it's fun and a huge success, but come on.
The Beatles equivalent would be You Know My Name (Look Up the Number) which was the B-side of Let It Be. Just a silly jam with funny voices. The fact that it was one of their biggest hits is mind boggling. I can even understand Kokomo being a hit and still not understand Barbara Ann. Like I said, the song itself is pretty good but the Beach Boys version is just not very appealing to me. It was never even meant to be a single, Little Girl I Once Knew clearly should have been the bigger success.

"Barbara Ann" > "Surfin' USA" ... Got it.
...and we wonder why it is always in the setlist; Beach Boys' and Brian's (solo). Can't argue too much with the remaining nine, though. Actually I don't think the list justifies Barbara Ann as much as it says that the setlist should include Surf's Up. I've always really liked Barbara Ann as a live staple of the band's shows but the Beach Boys studio version is so rough and half-assed with all the laughter and Ba-Ba Black Sheeps that I really don't understand the success it had as a single and it annoys me that it's always featured in compilations as that version rather than say the Live in London version which I like a lot.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / "Isn't It Time" and "Beaches in Mind," way too similar?

They're both decent songs (and nothing more than that really) but lyrically and thematically, I find them way too similar and I feel they should have just picked one to put on the album. Once I hear "Isn't it Time" and later on I hear "Beaches in Mind," I can't help but feel some deja vu and I just want to say "Okay guys, I get it, you're back together, it's been too long..." Anybody else agree?

Dennis and Carl have been gone a long time now. Perhaps they're just moving on. You can only dedicate to a person's memory so many times. After a while, it could start to lose meaning. I think we all know by now that they were a huge part of Brian and his life but he's moved through it and this album is all about the present and the future.

Hey did you guys know that Paul McCartney told Brian that God Only Knows is his favorite song? Crazy! Who would have guessed?
I got a lot of love for McCartney but I couldnt care less what he thinks about GOK as he never wrote anything as good as it. Wish the Beach Boys realised that. While I don't necessarily agree with you, I was joking as Brian seems to make sure to mention that in every single interview he gives.
