Someone I know claims to have heard a version of "wreck of the edmund fitzgerald" by the beach boys. I have never heard of them covering that song and can't find any links to a BB cover. Did the BB or any faction of the BB ever cover this song? AGD?

As I recall, the end of the BW AJ touring came at the Mountain Winery Show in Saratoga, CA. I was not there, but recall that Brian had some kind of panic attack/fainting spell in the middle of Sloop John B and Al was quite concerned if Brian was alright. It was right after that show that Al bowed out of further touring including a tour in Europe he had promised to be on (gave away free CDs to those who had bought tickets).

Wasn't there an earlier, inconclusive discussion here on whether or not his slurred speech and various tics was due to tardive dyskinesia due to side effects from psychiatric medications past or present, Landy-sourced or otherwise?
Yes, I do remember such a thread. I also remember a post from somebody (I don't remember their name, though) who had some background or knowledge about the medication that Landy prescribed for Brian. This poster stated that the powerful drugs could've caused slurring WHILE Brian was on the medication, but the drugs could not have long-lasting or permanent effects once Brian stopped taking the medication. That's not me talking, just recounting a post I remember. I believe it was Peter Reum.

Here's two ideas for the conspiracy theorists: (1) Al is finally "getting back" at Brian by dropping out of a tour (the way Brian did to Al and the others back in late '64/early '65), and perhaps planned it this way all along (2) Al has visa problems and CAN'T go to Europe (which explains why he played "Pet Sounds" shows with Brian in the STATES last November, but skipped the show at the Adelphi in London)...he hoped to have them straightened out in time for this trip, and held out until virtually the last minute, but finally had to give up and admit it wasn't going to happen. Of course, I don't really believe either of these.... Here's one I like: Al - "You know, Brian, this has been fun but wouldn't be fun to get back together with Mike's band and tour as the Beach Boys?" Brian " "Sure, Al, whatever you say" Brain's Handlers - "oh, HELL no!" Brian - "Uh, Al, maybe you should just go back and work on your album while I go to do the tour in Europ. My wife and manager thinks that's a good idea" Dave

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the input and I will try the aiff format and see if it works better.
I am burning them (CD-RW) straight from Adobe Audition 1.5 using the CD project section to import the list of finished tracks for burn. I have been importing them into the project as either mp3 or wma files which is how I generally export them from the program.
My choices in Audition for saving the music tracks to export files include:
.dbl .sa. .wav .iff .svx .aif .snd .voc .vox .dwd .au .snd .smp .wma .pcm .raw
the aif is listed as apple AIFF as is the .snd option.

Hi Luther,
Once I complete the burn, all of the songs show up on the CD on my computer as .cda format (I burn MP3 or WMA) and they play fine. When I put that same CD in a standard CD player stereo, it reads 00 on tracks and won't play. I am sure it probably has to do with the player's capability, and I am going to try one on both my DVD player and other CD players (including my car) to see if any will play it. My portable will not read the CD.
I noticed I can't burn a .cda format (it's not a choice using Audition) but that is the file extension all CDs show on my computer.
Just thought maybe I was burning in the wrong format.

Hi All,
Question that has been driving me nuts for a few weeks and wonder if anyone here can help.
Does anyone know a standard file format for music files that I can burn to CD or DVD that will actually play on a standard CD player? I've tried several including the standard MP3 and WMA but most CD players won't read that. Is there any particluar file extension that I should be formatting these songs in so that a standard CD player can read and play them??

Right -- and in many of those predictions (including mine), the rationale was the legal side. .
Good point and I took some heat for bringing this up on the CalSaga board quite a few months ago (from someone known as HighSurf). This is mostly Al's doing, he was very pointed when he was here in Gilroy last summer that he wanted to put the BB surviving members back together. He did a subsequent interview (perhaps actually done before the Gilroy show) where he talked at length about getting Brian to come out of hiding and be a BB again. It was right after that (I think in October) that Al dropped any remaining litigation against BRI. Paving the way for a more peaceful resolution. The Mike action is not directed at Smile or Brian per se, although many casual fans still believe it is. Has the case been resolved yet? I got the hint from Brian's messages on BW.com that he was heading in this direction as well. Obviously a lot of talk and negotiations have been going on behind the scenes for many months now. I know I would love to see all four together again, even if it sounds terrible. Just one last chance. perhaps that is how they see it as well. Dave
