101  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Looking back at Brian's Disney album on: March 07, 2014, 01:43:34 PM
I reckon with all those kids Brian has probably seen all the toy story films many times over. In the key of disney is pure enjoyment from start to finish imo.

What kind of Beck album is it?
103  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Underated albums on: February 01, 2014, 01:27:01 PM
And finally RICHARD THOMPSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't anyone realise that this man is the greatest guitarist on the planet, a great song-writer and has made more good albums than almost anyone who started off in the 60's - he's certainly the only one still making really good albums almost every year.

Yes, yes, yes... I agree on every point! How could I forget RT?

I saw him live again a few months ago, and he's still the greatest guitarist on the planet.
Absolutely, probably the most criminally underated/ignored musician on the planet. His albums are never less than superb. His latest is probably a career high point. Probably the best album released last year. The guitar playing and songwriting is out of this world.

The new David Crosby album was realeased last monday and is way better than I expected. I highly recomend croz, the voice and songwriting are still excellent.

Blinking lights and hombre lobo are easily as good as the electro shock/daisies period. Phenomenal songwriter, producer and artist. Love 'em!

Love from London by Robyn Hitchcock, Electric by Richard Thompson, Tooth and Nail by Billy Bragg. Psychedelic Pill by Neil Young. Its not been a bad year but New by McCartney was a dissapointment to me.

Cabblegeddon, your outrage seems to be based on a complete lack of facts, you are jumping to huge conclusions. No, I don't know the facts either so I won't make any comments regarding this matter.
111  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Your Favorite Lou Reed Songs/Moments on: November 03, 2013, 02:25:52 PM
The Blue Mask, New York, Magic and Loss, Set the twighlight Reeling, Ecstasy. Any and all moments from those albums.
112  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: R.I.P. Lou Reed on: November 03, 2013, 02:20:23 PM
I've been playing Magic and Loss all week. Aside from being a personal favourite it seems appropriate.  Boy, Lou knew how to record guitars! I'm missing him.
113  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Who are your favourite female singers? on: October 31, 2013, 02:15:36 PM

114  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Paul McCartney's NEW Album on: October 26, 2013, 02:49:45 PM
Press to play, london town and run devil run i enjoy and play often. For my money Flowers, off the ground, russian album, paul is live, tripping the live fantastic and unplugged are the worst. Maybe add red rose speedway and pipes of peace to that list. However there is always something great on every album, the guys a hell of a talent. I'm finding it hard to assimilate the new album, at first i was completely underwhelmed but i'm playing it obsessively so I've no idea what to make of it yet. Its different to previous albums which is good.
115  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Kinks Discussion and Appreciation Thread on: October 19, 2013, 02:58:43 PM
Damned phone posted before i was done. Rays solo albums are also great but the masterpieces are the villiage green preservation society, Arthur and Musswell Hillbillies. Great, great music.
116  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Kinks Discussion and Appreciation Thread on: October 19, 2013, 02:55:52 PM
Everything from face to face to preservation act 1 is mindblowing (ok percy is less essential but gods children is beautiful). After that schoolboys, misfits and give the people what they want are great. To the bone is none too shaby b
117  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: In praise of Friends on: October 19, 2013, 02:39:32 PM
I've listened to Friends more often than any other BB's album, which is therefore literally hundreds of listens. I love it more every time I play it. Friends just ticks every box for me.
118  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Anyone else not sure about seing Brian this time? on: September 27, 2013, 11:20:11 AM
I would never pass up the chance to see the most creative musician of our times. I've never missed a Scottish show and venture south of the border as required. Cant wait to read the reviews. Hope they play the UK again.
119  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: In Your Opinion the most Overrated and most Underrated Beatles album on: September 15, 2013, 12:23:13 PM
MMT is generally not regarded as a bona fide album rather than being undervalued. It was a double EP in the UK and was not constructed as a coherent album just the EP plus other stuff recordedd around that time. It is brilliant though.
120  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Who: Tommy (Super Deluxe Edition) on: September 12, 2013, 02:14:14 PM
I've bought Tommy six times. The only album i've bought more editions of is pet sounds. This looks good but I'm unsure if I'll splash any more cash on that album.

This evening so soon is phenomenal. So much good stuff on there that i've not yet managed to absorb it all.

The deluxe set should be arriving tomorrow. All the bootleg series have been great so far. Really looking forward to this one.
123  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: ZAPPA! on: August 16, 2013, 10:51:05 AM

Or weld and dreaming man. I prefer those wonderful solo performances of the harvest moon songs.
